I ran this RP on another site and it was super fun so I decided to try again.
Here's the basic premise: A prince(ss) has been betrothed to the prince(ss) of the neighboring country and these royal children absolutely despise each other. Unfortunately, their parents need this alliance and they are forced to get married and then honeymoon (are forced to get along together) in a secluded country manor. Things do not go well from there.

She looks great! Do you want to start, or should I?
Elowan was in a pretty shitty mood. Her parents had invited her absolute least favorite noble over to Elowan's birthday gala and had been hinting to her that she should try to strike up a conversation for at least 30 minutes. It was stupid and a terrible idea and at this point she just kind of wanted to punch a wall (or her parents) because she wasn't going to talk to anyone, least of all Crystal.
"Darling?" Elowan scowled at the sound of her mother's voice. She could practically feel the pout forming on the woman's face as Elowan refused to answer. It was petty, but Elowan couldn't rebel in many other ways. She was stuck in this castle at this disgusting gala in a truly heinous dress. "Darling." Her mother's voice took a more serious tone so Elowan finally faced her, an angry scowl on her face.
"What is it, mother?" She sighed, pulling on her skirt in irritation. She hated this dress. It was itchy and restricting and she felt like she couldn't even breath. She wanted to rip off her stupid corset and run outside into the yard.
"Your father is bringing Crystal over for some polite conversation and you will be kind," Her mother slapped Elowan's hands off her skirt and brushed a strand of hair off her shoulder. Elowan groaned, stopping abruptly when her mother gave her a sharp pinch to the arm. She rubbed her stinging skin and stood, steeling herself for the conversation.
Crystal was happily talking with some other nobles, her long midnight blue dress sweeping across the floor. Her indigo eyes were bright and happy as she laughed with them. It seemed as if she didn't have a care in the world. She smiled and laughed, but if you looked closely, her fingers tapped against her waist as she waited. She felt tense. She had been invited to this birthday Gala, and she was pretty sure that her hostess hated her. That was an understatements. Crystal was loathed by the other. She could never understand why, but whatever. All of a sudden, Elowan's father walks up to her. "Sire." She says politely, curtsying. She takes a deep breath when he smiles in greeting, and explained he wanted her to come and chat with Elowan. Taking a deep breath, she nods and puts on a smile, following after him.

Elowan took a deep breath, doing her best to remain composed. She forced herself to smile, which was only half successful. A quick look in the mirror showed that she was grimacing more than she was grinning. Her father led Crystal up to Elowan with a cheery smile of warning. It was the smile that said 'So help me god play nice with this girl or I'll whip you bloody'.
"Princess Crystal," She said, managing to sound like she didn't hate the person standing before her. Crystal was going to be her ball and chain. Elowan had heard the rumors. Whispers of an arranged marriage between the Swayze and Bowcatcher lines. "It is a pleasure to be speaking with you."
Crystal smiled faintly, noticing the grimace smile on Elowan's face. Her indigo eyes flash ever so slightly in the light, making them appear a softer blue. Her thin but somewhat plump lips form a little smile. "Princess Elowan. It's a pleasure to see you after such a long time. I hope you've been well." She says kindly. She knew of the rumors, she knew of the arranged marraige. She looks at the other princess, noticing her tense stance. Everything radiating off Elowan was hostile and she knew it was because of her.
Elowan took a deep breath, steeling herself for a useless half hour of stifling conversation. "Things could be better, but with you here things are looking up." She hated telling lies, but it wasn't like she could tell the truth. She couldn't say 'No, actually I really wish you would just disappear and leave me the fuck alone' or even say 'I've been feeling quite unwell lately'. Nt without immediate retribution from her father.
Speaking of her father, the man stepped forward, noticing his daughter's anger and hesitance to speak with Crystal. "Well girls, we have a surprise for both of you. Elowan, Your mother is about to announce something very exciting. Crystal, I think you should sit down for this." He all but shoved Crystal onto the love seat Elowan was enjoying, forcing Crystal to stay pressed up against her.
Crystal bites her lip. She never did understand the hostility she felt from the other female. She had never done anything, if she could recall. She nods. "I'm glad to hear that." She replies, offering her best smile. It was obvious that there was some hurt behind it, but she didn't let her pride falter. She could see right through the white lie. She looks towards Elowan with glittering eyes, seeming to scan the female in front of her. She started when Elowan's father pushed her into the chair, which made her feel very uncomfortable to be sitting next to the woman who had always shown her hostility. She folded her hands neatly across her lap, faking her interest, something she had to do time to time. "Oh, really? Please, do tell your Majesty." She says kindly, smiling a little despite her discomfort.
Elowan scooted cautiously away from Crystal with a barely concealed grimace on her face. Elowan's father gestured towards her mother, signaling for her to make the announcement. The woman cleared her voice, making the nobility quiet down and began to speak. "It pleases me greatly to announce the marriage between my Daughter, Elowan Isoballa Swayze, and Crystal Helene Bowcatcher."
Although it wasn't truly a surprise, Elowan still felt shocked. Up until now, this had been a distant nightmare. Some horrifying future event that she could thwart or escape from. Now it was terrifyingly, crushingly real. A sea drowning her in the realization that she'd be forever connected to Crystal as long as she lived.
Crystal felt the other try and move away from her and she sighed quietly. She takes a deep breath. The moment of truth. When the marriage was announced, she looked down and shook her head in silent dismay. She would be with Elowan, a person who did not care for her in the slightest, for the rest of her life. Why was life so harsh towards her. She takes a breath and looks at Elowan. She could see the other was mortified. She stood slowly and bowed to Elowans parents. "I am pleased to be marrying your daughter and I hope that the peace that has lived through our countries bonds will continue to reign." She smiles, looking up.
Elowan plastered on a smile and did her best to play the happy new bride. That facade failed when her mother announced that they were to be married in two hours. TWO HOURS?? She only had two more hours of freedom before she was launched into a relationship with someone she barely knew? She could've cried.
In fact, she probably would've cried, had her mother not sent maids to carry herself and Crystal to separate rooms to prepare them for the ceremony. Elowan felt numb as she was powdered and prodded and smoothed into a beautiful young bride. She didn't even get to choose her wedding dress.
Deep down, Elowan had always harbored a fantasy of marriage to someone she loved. Of being able to plan her wedding. Of feeling in love as her father led her down the aisle. Of giving herself to someone who would cherish her. Those hopes had been dashed to shards on the hard stone of reality.
Crystal's eyes widen. She was the only living heir of her family, and now she was being married off in less than two hours to a person who despised her. She bites her lip as she's whisked away, trying her hardest not to cry. Her emotions overwhelmed her. The maids simply thought she was crying of happiness. She was placed into a huge gown that made her barely manage to breathe. Her hair is only brushed, since it was so short to do anything about, her face powdered and primped up. She hated the make up. She takes a deep breath. She had seen her brother married off to the man of his dreams, and she had wanted that so desperately for herself. Seeing her brother dead and lowered into the ground destroyed what little hope she had left in herself. And now any dream she possibly had was going down the drain.
Elowan was placed in front of a mirror so she could see herself, and she hated how lovely she looked. Her bronze skin was practically glowing against the smooth satin of her wedding gown. Her wine red hair was pulled back in an elegant bun, two long, curling strands lay flat against her collarbones. She was as beautiful as she'd ever been in her life and she hated it.
She wanted to rip off the dress and punch a maid and run out of the balance and never come back. She had just started to reach for one of the hairpins laying on the counter- it would make a suitable weapon- when her father walked in. He eyed her up and down, giving her a jovial smile when he decided she had met his standards.
"My beautiful girl," He said, voice tinged in pride. Elowan wanted to stab him with the pin, but she carefully clenched her hands into fists. No point in angering her father. "The ceremony will be starting soon. You're going to be waiting for her to be walked up the aisle." She nodded stiffly, letting him walk her up to the altar and pulling her veil over her face. She stood there, waiting to receive her wife to be.
She stared at herself when all was said and done. She was in a gorgeous wedding gown, it was pure white, covered in beautiful flower prints. When she moved, it would shimmer in the light. It was long, trailing after her, her veil swooping over the dress. She sighed softly and looked down.
Crystal would walk alone to the alter. Her father had passed away recently, her mother was bed ridden and didn't seem to be getting better no matter what the doctors did to save their precious queen. She was handed the beautiful bouquet of flowers, roses, lilies, violets, all sorts of the sweet smelling flowers and lead down towards where the ceremony would take place.
She waited for the doors to open with a flourish. With her face veiled, she slowly walked down the aisle, alone, and feeling more and more depressed about her situation. She was getting married to a woman who loathed her, a woman who did not want her. She had dreamed of walking up the aisle and met with a person who would cherish and love her, and yet… here she was, being forced to marry a woman she did not love. She halts beside the other, taking a trembling breath.
Elowan hated the way she admired Crystal. She hated how she thought the woman was beautiful even though she was the thing stealing her freedom. Even though she was the rock Elowan would be chained for until the end of her life. When Crystal finally reached the end of the aisle and took her place beside Elowan, the priest began to speak.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage between…" And that was all Elowan heard before the ringing in her ears grew too loud for her to hear anything else. She only snapped out of it when the priest made a sudden gesture. He looked at her expectantly, so taking a guess that's he'd asked 'do you take this woman to be your wife' she nodded. "I do."
And that was it. She was chained. Shackled. Stuck. Her freedom was gone, all because of those simple two words.
She had her head bowed. The other beside her was gorgeous, she had to admit. She felt like she was shadowed by the other beside her. She could barely understand the words the priest was saying until he motioned to her. She starts, taking a deep breath before saying softly, 'I do.' Her freedom was gone with those two simple words. She takes a trembling breath, trying to keep from crying. She was not excited, nor happy, nor anything really. She felt numb, and like a river was trying to escape through her eyes.
The priest nodded solemnly. "Unveil your partner," Her ordered, voice still monotonous. Elowan took in a deep breath, smoothing her skirt to calm herself. It didn't work. She reached out and slowly, ever so slowly, raised Crystal's veil. She let out a gasp when she saw her wife's face. She was lovely. Unfairly, perfectly lovely. She wanted to punch her in her perfect face and run away.
Instead, she muttered the words every person in the kingdom knew. The traditional vows of a queen. "Crystal Helene Bowcatcher, I give myself to you." She spat out the words like they were poison, hoping the crowd would take her tone as nerves and not hatred. "In the name and spirits of the gods around me, I pledge that in sickness and health, I shall be yours. I promise to protect you, to share with you my wealth and sorrows. I give you my kingdom, and beg that you accept it."
The words felt like fire on her tongue, but she finished them. They hovered in the air like a thousand wasps, each and every one waiting quietly to sting.
