The families of old Orlean's are very well known, even if only whispers among the cobbled streets. They have been here for decades, even centuries, known for their festivities and parties, who they have crossed and threatened, perhaps the powers each family is rumored to possess. Each of these four families have stayed out of one another's ways for years, save for a few quarrels here and there, only this solidarity will begin to fracture when the children and descendants of these families meet on a fateful night.

The Families: (In advance, this will be rather long, but it's worth reading in order to make your characters. You don't have to stick very close to what the families are like, but along those lines. )
All of these families are based off of the Creole/Voodoo Culture of New Orleans

The Reapers: Also known as the Catoire family, they are one of the youngest families in old Orleans but have a large reputation for what their ancestors are capable of. The members of this family are big presences, usually the leaders for many decisions in Orlean's. They can have short tempers and strike quickly, having a say in many choices and gathering's, such as many of the parties. Their feature's range from dark browns, auburns, and reds, with striking dark, tawny eyes. The Catoire's have the ability to reap what has been taken from them, easily plucking life from anyone. The tarot cards that rule them are: Justice (the aspects of decisions and karma), Death, and The Tower.

The Necromancer's: Known as the LeTour Family. This is a large family, with many members, but very close knit and family oriented. They are peaceful, but they know exactly how to be heard and to keep their place, staying very headstrong. Justice is incredibly important to them, as well as balance, since it is such an important part of necromancy. LeTour's are known for their darker skin, ranging from caramel to obsidian tones, tawny eyes and the strange marks that they carry with them. This family's powers are strange and dark, giving them the ability to speak and raise armies of the dead…a power that cannot be placed in the wrong hands. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; Death, The Hanged Man, Wheel of Fortune, Strength.)

The Seers: Known as the Ardoin Family. Dangerous. That is a word constantly tossed about them in the streets. Their ability to see and perceive, adapt and understand can be lethal, but helpful to those they are allied with. The Ardoin's are also among the oldest families, their history lengthy, as if they've been here from the beginning. Though, they are very small in size, with only a few members. Descendant's of this family can be incredibly odd, though their personalities are versatile and carrying wisdom beyond their ages. Ardoin's are recognized by their lighter features and hair, vitiligo, strange markings, and watery, blue-grey eyes from lack of sight. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; The Moon (Dreams, Visions, Fears) The High Priestess and the Fool.

The Shifters: Also known as the Mounier Family.* *This family can be strange, confusing most that meet them. Their ability to shift into lanky creatures, shadows, or even devils can terrify most, earning them a righteous spot in the streets. The Mounier's never quite have family traits that stay the same, some blondes, other brunettes, ranging to obsidian black locks, and the same, ever changing eyes. Be wary of them, for they are never as they seem. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; The Hierophant, The Moon, The Devil.

So, overall, my idea is that we can have 1-2 people per family (or even 3 depending on how many people join.) This is set in the 1800's - 1900's and is focalized around the Creole/Voodoo/Tarot Culture there. I think the plot will begin around Mardi Gras, so the families can sort of meet each other. We can come up with a plot as we go, but most families are extremely wary of one another. Try to be as active as possible, and have detailed character's/ responses. Remember, I'm open to any ideas!

(Hello? May I join as the reapers? If not, that's fine. I'll stalk!)

Deleted user

Yes! Everyone can join as what they asked for. Sorry for the late response.

Deleted user

MAY I JOIN AS A NECROMANCER
THIS IS PERFECT!!
I'm going to New Orleans next week

Deleted user

Yes a necromancer works! I think we might have 2 or 3 necromancers now so I probably have to close that slot off now.

Deleted user

Perfect I’ll close off necromancer then.

Seers: Ardoine Family Characters

Name: Daus Sen Ardoine
Age: 19 years.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: He's open to almost everything, but leans towards men more oftenly.
Family: The Seers ; Ardoine Family
Appearance: Daus has a light, coffee colored skin, with slight splotches of light vitiligo across his shoulders, collarbones, wrists and neck. He stands around 5'9, with a lean, lanky build, his posture making him seem a lot smaller than what he is. Tied to his family, his hair falls in messy, lazy curls in an ashy, white color, almost as if his hair (which would have been naturally brunette) was devoid of color. His left eye is a milky, blue-grey, signifying a lack of sight, while his right eye is a tawny, brown, lined by thick, ash colored lashes. His lips are full and dark, with slight scarring from how much he bites them. As for markings go on his face, he does have an odd, light patch of vitiligo surrounding his right eye. He has a few white gold piercings, one thin, dainty septum, and several ear piercings. White tattoos (Moon signs, tarot cards, and important seer scriptures) that stand out against his coffee skin are scrawled all across him, lining his shoulders, arms and lower back.
Personality: Daus is a dreamer, quiet by nature due to his small family. He is very soft spoken, not wanting to make a scene, but has no issue standing up for what he believes in. He's softly charming, extroverted by nature and a natural peacekeeper. He alway seems quite lost in his thoughts, most people rendering him as an airhead, when in reality he is very intelligent and clever for his age. He trusts people easily, and believes strongly in karma, though can be extremely naive at times and taken advantage of.
Usual Clothing: Daus doesn't especially care for loud, Creole designs, and instead opts for white and cream linen shirts and pants that stand out against his toffee toned skin. As for colors in his clothing, he enjoys wearing many scarves that have detailed patterns of moons and astronomy, usually tied around his ashy curls or neck. He wears a lot of golden jewelry and crystals, carrying a tan, leather satchel along with him as well.
Backstory: Daus has grown up in a very sheltered life, surrounded by many siblings and taught to keep his powers to himself and own knowledge. His family has never been quite large, and frankly seen as the oddballs of Orlean's, even though possessing a great power. He has been kept at his family's estate for a very long time, never really meeting others outside of his family for almost all of his life, so his experience with any other families is little to none, rendering him wary. (His eldest brother was actually killed by a necromancer in the past, instilling even more fear)
Likes/Dislikes: Sweet fruit, music, strange smelling candles, mid-day naps, roses, crystals, the stars. Hates loud noises, places and people, violence.
Other: As a seer, he does have the ability to predict many moments that will happen in the future. Most of these scenes come to him in his dreams or in specific ceremonies that his family will conduct. Something very interesting to Daus is his ability to tap into dreams and put others to sleep, an ability that has not been seen in his family lineage for quite some time. Slips a lot of french into his talking.

Name: Delphi Anj Ardoine
Age: 20 years.
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual, leans towards girls.
Family: Ardoine; Seers
Appearance: Like her brother, Delphi's skin is a caramel tone, with many freckles littered all across it. Main focal points of these markings lay on the bridge of her nose, cheeks, collarbone, shoulders and arms, comparing to a night sky full of stars. Her long curls are pulled back into box braids that frame her face, half of her hair a dark tone and the rest the same bright, ashy-white that Daus' is. The two colors are interwoven into the braids she sports, usually tied back in some intricate style or with a gem stone tie she prefers. Her eyes are both a cloudy white, with some hints of brown, not rendering her entirely blind, though with terrible sight. (She wears glasses most of the time, though is sometimes able to retrieve a version of contacts from the apothecary) Unlike her brother, she doesn't have vitiligo, but sports many white tattoos that are unique to her family's traditions. As for height, she's around 5'6, with a pear shaped body and wide hips.
Personality: Practically the complete opposite of her brother and her entire family. Delphi's personality has always been an interesting case, though many Ardoine's (though quiet and soulful) do have some versatile personalities. She's loud and brash, and enjoys making loud statements, most of which are sarcastic. She can have a short temper, especially when it comes to her sight or not being able to grasp onto her ability. She doesn't think through many of her choices, and can be rather eccentric. Though, she's passionate about her family and siblings and will never let them get hurt. Overall, a charming person when you get past her extroverted self.
Usual Clothing: She opts for some creme colored clothing as well, wearing a long, linen skirt, but likes to pair her clothing with loud pops of warm tones. She usually wears some head scarves to tie back her long braids, many deep oranges and auburns, which stand out nicely against her milky eyes and white hair. She's adorned in crystals as well, enjoying many leather bound necklaces, bracelets and anklets, not to mention her favorite leather sandals. Delphi also loves to smoke cannabis (which was not very popular at the time) so she usually has some sort of cigar on her.
Likes/Dislikes: She loves smoking, crystals, the rituals she preforms as a seer, family traditions, card games, Shrimp Gumbo, spices, keeping the truth and keeping things fair, festivals. Dislikes unfair people and liars.
Other: Delphi has always strayed from her path as a seer when she was younger, looking towards necromancy. Her ancestors are always worried she may stray from her abilities, but she is an excellent seer, easily tapping into lucid dreaming. Lots of Orlean's slang/french like her brother.

(I'll get mine in tomorrow. I'll just put this as unread.)

Deleted user

Pardon, which year exactly would this be set in?
I'd rather not have an rp set in the middle of the civil war where people of color were persecuted.

Deleted user

Oh, no, it's more of a fantasy based roleplay, with that kind of Victorian style from the 1800 (if I'm correct, correct me if I'm wrong)? My character's are of color, so there will be no persecution.

Deleted user

Oh thank stars, I was going to delve deep into history land.
Pardon the question, lol, I'm a huge history nerd

Deleted user

Totally fine! If you have any ideas or if I need to make any adjustments just let me know.

Deleted user

Fabulous!
Oh, and speaking of my trip, starting next week, I'll be gone for about a week and a half, so if I vanish for a bit, don't worry about it.

Deleted user

Great! Feel free to put your template in whenever and we'll slip your character in.

Deleted user

Yes! That about fills up our seer positions (I can always open up one spot in case) and 2/3 on shifters. Just take a look at my seer characters if you need inspiration

I also have a pinterest board kind of dedicated to what I was inspired by for this role play, so I may show you guys a few pictures if you need some extra inspiration for each family!

Deleted user

I'm honestly just going to push everything I feel like into my boi.
I want him to be pretty

Deleted user

Feel free to, I want this roleplay to be as detailed as possible. I'm still trying to come up with a plot line we could possibly follow? Since my character's are seers and the first scenes take place during a sort of Mardi Gras celebration, I'm thinking that every family can meet each other (keep in mind everyone is very hostile towards each other bc of ancestral history blah blah blah)

And since my character's are seers (and Coffee's too) they could possibly see a future during that night of some "antagonist" that will be attempting to take away each families abilities. This leads to a banding of the family's decsendants, some trust issues, problems, etc. Lots of fun!!

If anyone has any ideas feel free to shoot them at me!
