Are you an American history buff? Bored? Or a fanatic of Hamilton? Join this rp! Of course, please read the bits below:

✥GUIDELINES/PLOT✥
this is HISTORICAL FICTION, and in this case follows these terms:

  • Timeline begins 1775, a year before the Declaration of Independence. Tensions between the British and Colonial Americans are high.
  • Key/Obvious events (like the Boston Massacre) remain the same. But other more obscure stuff like specific battle names/places/dates don't have to be 100% accurate. The goal here is to become immersed into history while having fun—not like recounting a history lesson :)
  • Feel free to substitute real historical figures with your own OC's. Get creative!

✥RULES✥
Just follow typical Notebook.ai roleplay rules. However, if and when characters get frisky, lovemaking is skipped and left implied. There is to be nothing descripted beyond mouth kissing please. :)

✥HISTORICAL POINTERS✥

  • Women, during this time period, were expected to be submissive towards their husbands. I encourage you to do a little research on their clothing as well, it's crazy how many layers they wear! & feel free to take this societal flaw and work it into your character arc.
  • Lead in makeup.. killed a lot of women OvO. That's how the Marquis de Lafayette's wife died— from lead poisoning.
  • LOTS of men had daddy issues. Unfortunately abuse was extremely common in this time period, hand in hand with alcohol and drug use.
  • At some point when the French Revolution was taking place, America began deporting French folks back to French Caribbean islands/France. Lots of discrimination took place towards French peoples, even those born in the young U.S.
  • SODOMY (an old term for homosexuality) WAS ACTUALLY VERY COMMON! However it had to be hidden, as many discriminated against those, and these people were often jailed if they were lucky enough. Most get beaten by discriminators. Thus, homosexuals had to find ways to keep relationships secret.
  • i will add more as we go along!

✥LASTLY…✥
Post a bio to secure your spot. Make sure to include if they are neutral, loyal to Britain, or loyal to the American cause. No need to ask :)

Rain pattered gently on the shingled roof of brick townhouses and cobble streets. The streets sat eerily bare of horses and people. Instead they hid indoors, windows illuminated by candles, scintillating the ripples of puddles with a warm hue.
Under the rain a soldier passed, head bowed to let the rain run off his tricorn hat. Spare his face from the rain, but his scarlet-clad uniform was already darkened with rainwater.

The quiet, happy Frenchman in his cozy, fireplace-lit tavern, washed a cup. He had just served his first cup of “Honey Beer” and it got the sides quite sticky. He didn’t mind it, though, since his patrons seemed to enjoy it quite a lot.

@KalamariCakes

The redcoat peered into the tavern window. It was hard to guage the risk of assault by patriots; he hadn't had a good glass of beer in years because of them.

Deleted user

He didn’t notice the peering man. If he were to look up at his windows, he’d just see streaks of rainwater instead of a reddened-with-cold face or the scarlet uniform.

Angeline tugged her thin jacket tighter around her shoulders, her sopping hair hanging down in front of her line of vision as she hurried along the dark street. She shivered, wiping the rain from her eyes with a shaking hand and patting her breast pocket to make sure the letter was secure, knowing her what her punishment would be if she returned the the manor with it undelivered.

And there it was, up ahead; the tavern. Sighing in relief, she pushed open the door and slipped inside.

(If one of you guys wants the letter to be for your character then just say so)

@blue_topaz

(That works perfectly, since the family that Angeline works with is very much for Britain. What do you want the letter to say? Any ideas?)

Angeline’s thick skirt dragged on the floor, leaving a trail of water. A droplet trickled down the side of her face and off her chin, even her hair dripped unsteadily. And she was so cold, cold and miserable— though the two weren’t exactly foreign feelings to her.

Stop complaining, she reprimanded herself harshly, You’ve got a job to do and a message to deliver. But the man she was looking for was nowhere to be found, at least not here, where she’d hoped to find him.

@KalamariCakes

Maybe something about the quartering act/orders to be more stern towards patriots or something like that? )

John André decided to follow in, dripping puddles on the wood floor.
