“To yourself, of course. You’d be getting double the benefits,” Kasey pointed out.
“To yourself, of course. You’d be getting double the benefits,” Kasey pointed out.
Barry sighed as he flopped down on Kasey’s bed, still smiling. “Sure, but I’m not charging you. So will you kiss me?”
Kasey laughed lightly, the wasps momentarily forgotten as she sat beside him. “Of course, babe. You don’t have to ask,” she said as she pressed her lips to his gently.
Barry smiled into the kiss, reaching up to wrap his arms around her in the most comforting way possible, hoping to soothe her.
Kasey cupped his cheeks in her hands, glad he was there for her. He was always there for her… And she hoped that never changed…
"I love you…" he murmured into her mouth, tugging her closer. "I never want you to be that unsafe again."
“I love you, too… I promise to do my best not to do that,” Kasey murmured back.
(gmorning! how are you?)
"Good." He pulled away slightly, nuzzling her cheek.
(I'm good! My grandma is taking me out to lunch in about an hour, so in pretty excited about that.
You?)
Kasey sighed and relaxed into him. "Well… Now I don't want to move, so there goes my plan for ice cream…"
(that sounds like a lot of fun! I'm good)
Barry chuckled into her skin, tanging his fingers through her hair. "Oh well…"
(shoud the mask come in now?)
(And… I ended up going shopping with my friends…
That sounds good, yeah.)
Kasey smiled and turned slightly so she could kiss him softly. A knock sounded on the door after a moment, and she looked over, slightly confused. She wasn't expecting anyone. Unless…
With a wide grin, she pulled away from Barry and jumped up to open the door. A tall dark-haired man stood there, his grin matching Kasey's.
"Harper!" she exclaimed before engulfing him in a hug.
He chuckled and hugged her back. "Hey, sis."
(was it fun?)
Barry blinked in astonishment, his eyes widening. That was– that was the Mask. The superhero.
(Yeah! A friend who I don't get to see very often – who also happens to be only four days younger than me, so we're pretty close – is spending the weekend with our other friend, so a few of us went it lunch – except I did t eat because I already had – and then we went shopping. It was really fun.)
Harper's gaze shifted to the man sitting on Kasey's bed, and he raised an eyebrow as he looked back down at her. "Who's this, Kase?"
Kasey glanced back at Barry, grinning at him as she pulled out of the embrace. "That's my boyfriend, Barry Lawrence. Barry, this is Harper, my older brother."
"It's good to meet you, Barry," Harper said, offering him a quick smile.
(That sounds great!)
Barry stood, his stomach twisting into a knot. "Good– Good to meet you too, Mr….. Mask?"
Harper raised an eyebrow and turned to Kasey. "You told him about me?"
"He's my boyfriend! Of course I did!" Kasey exclaimed, putting her hands up defensively.
"I'm assuming he knows about you too, then?" He sighed as Kasey have him a sheepish smile. "Okay… Well, Barry… For one, you can just call me Harper. I only go by the Mask when I'm in my suit. Secondly, would you like an autograph?"
Barry blinked again, glancing over at Kasey. He was talking to the Mask. The Mask. The Mask. Oh my god… "Yeah– if that's– if that's okay."
Kasey chuckled softly as she watched her boyfriend stutter in front of her brother, who was apparently a very famous superhero. She stepped closer to him and stood at his side as Harper took a pen out of his pocket, as well as a pad of paper, and quickly scrawled his signature on it. He handed it to his fan with smile, looking both amused and exhausted at the same time.
"Thanks," Barry somehow managed, slipping it carefully into his pocket.
Harper chuckled and glanced around the dorm. "So, Kase… Where's McKenzie?"
"With Hunter. As usual," Kaswy chuckled.
"Ah, of course. I'm glad they're still doing good. You'd told me they were in a fight or something, right?"
"Yeah, but that's all sorted out now. They're still together, and I'm not sure they'll ever be apart," Kasey said, smiling as she thought of how happy her roommate was.
"I'm glad to hear it," Harper said, smiling over at his sister. "So… I saw your scene on the news…"
Almost instinctually, Barry's arm went around Kasey at the mention of the event. His mind flashed back to the awful scene.
Kasey blushed and looked away, leaning into Barry's comforting embrace. "Yeah…"
"Are you okay?" Harper asked gently, his gaze softening as he looked down at his sister. He knew she hated wasps… And he knew why, too.
Kasey nodded silently, moving closer to Barry.
Harper hummed a bit and nodded. "Good… That's good. I'm glad you're okay."
Barry squeezed her shoulder lightly, watching the interaction. He felt incredibly awkward in front of the superhero, unsure what to say or do.
Kasey simply nodded again. She chewed on her lip for a moment as she glanced around the room, looking for something to distract them.
"Who wants to play a game?" she asked suddenly.
Barry blinked at her, raising a questioning eyebrow. “Sure, what game?”
"Um… I don't know. Harper, what do you think?" Kasey asked, looking back over at him. She really just needed to get her mind off the incident…
"Oh, uh… We could play Monopoly? You have that, right?" he wondered, just double checking.
Kasey nodded and gestured toward a shelf full of games. "It's over there."
Harper hummed in acknowledgment and walked over to get it.
Barry nodded, standing back. He still felt oddly on edge, not wanting Harper to think badly of him, or that he was just cheating Kasey.
"You seem really nervous, babe," Kasey said softly once Harper out out of hearing range. "You okay?"
“I’m fine,” he told her in a whisper. “I just don’t want to come off as… y’know, that boyfriend. Plus he’s the Mask. I mean, my sister had an action figure of this guy when she was little!”
Kasey smiled and reached up to press a quick kiss to his cheek. "You'll be fine. He's really just a normal guy. Just act like yourself."
Barry chewed on his bottom lip, fidgeting. His arm tightened a little around Kasey, to reassure her or himself he didn't know.
