"Why does everyone keep saying that?" Kelton mumbled under his breath. He didn't understand how hate was such a strong word then everyone kept they loved some random person, at least they could say like.

“I… I just feel like it’d be wrong to say something like that about something like them,” Chase explained quietly, chewing his lip and sighing. It was stupid of him to be in here, stupid for him to be skipping class because of Kemp and Jacob.

"Makes sense I guess." Kelton said with a slight shrug. "Oh, by the way, I've found several movies we could watch if you wanted to."

“Really?” Chase asked, leaning closer to Kelton to look over at his phone to see. But doubt wiggled its way into Chase’s mind, and he asked quietly, “Are you sure this isn’t a bad idea? Skipping class…” Even if Chase just wanted to stay with Kelton for now.

"It's really your choice, I'm fine with anything and I won't judge." Kelton answered, tilting his phone so it was easier for Chase to see. There weren't that many movies that they could watch but there were a good amount of variety between them.

Chase opened his mouth, about to ask why. Why was Kelton being so nice to him, why wasn’t he judging him, why? But the answer hit him harder than he expected. He had just made a deal with him- with Satan yesterday, the only reason Kelton was being nice to him was because of the deal. Because Satan was obligated to. Chase’s heart sunk for some reason, and he pulled away and made his feet walk towards the bathroom exit, “I-I really should go, I— bye, I’ll see you later…”

(Totally didn't forget about that….nervous laughter Kill meee)

"Oh-um-okay then…" Kelton mumbled awkwardly. He had been trying to do his best to delay the time until he had to go back but it didn't work.

(Srry that it's short, I'm sleep-deprived and have too much hw)

Chase made his way back to class, rubbing at his eyes and trying to recollect his emotions. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Stupid for believing he actually liked you in some way, stupid for believing he was your friend… Chase shook his head at himself as he snuck to his next class.

Kelton sighed and shut his phone before putting it away. He probably hated me and wasn't sure how to say it before, right? Whatever, it sounds right. Or was he scared of me? Even though he made that deal with me?

Chase kept his head down as he went to his locker. Half of him hoped that Kelton was gone, that he wouldn’t force Satan to put up with him. The other half of him desperately hoped he wouldn’t have to be alone.

(I'm so srry I haven't responded in so long, forgive me pls)

Kelton quietly walked around in his place, not sure what to do. He had more than enough servants so he usually ended up having to do nothing, unless someone wanted to talk to him specifically for some reason because they thing they're 'innocent.'

Chase speed walked home, keeping his face to the ground. He made it back to his house, mercifully not encountering Kemp or Jacob. Chase walked in the door, but a sharp, cold voice interrupted his entry, “Chase?”
He hesitated, closing the door behind him before he replied softly, “Yes, Dad?”
His father walked into view from the living room, an angry scowl on his face. Then a hand came down onto his face, taking him by surprise and causing his to stumble a step to the side. “You are such a disgrace after what happened this morning. I wish you’d never been born at all!” Another hand came down on him. Chase accidentally let out a whimper. “You don’t belong in this house,” Mr. Goeman snarled, pushing Chase towards the door. Only as Chase was pushed out the door did he realize how his father's scent held the strong putrid stench of alcohol.
Chase stared as the door closed, locking him out. He didn’t let himself cry- not yet at least, he only picked himself up and started walking down the block so he could distract himself from the stinging pain on his cheek and in his heart.

Kelton kept walking around, he had nothing to do and it was becoming more and more boring by the day for him. But he couldn't leave since he was supposed to be here and take care of everything.
