Elide stepped into the blacksmith and took a few moments to take in the environment. It really wasn't her… scene. At all. But, it didn't matter. Her eyes fell upon a girl working not too far away and coughed to grab her attention.
Elide stepped into the blacksmith and took a few moments to take in the environment. It really wasn't her… scene. At all. But, it didn't matter. Her eyes fell upon a girl working not too far away and coughed to grab her attention.
Idi heard a cough and looked over, hastily covering her chest with the robe. “Hi there! What can I do for you?” She tried to put on a casual smile, but it failed miserably. It was probably nasty for this woman to see someone in such… revealing clothes.
Elide blinked a few times before bringing herself back to reality, "Oh, I just need these sharpened if it's no problem." She gave the woman a small smile and took a few steps forward.
Idi took the knives and smiled back. “Okay. This’ll only take me a few mom’nts to sharpen. Go ahead and sit down.” She gestured to a bench near the entrance.
"Thank-you." Elide looked the woman over once before shaking her head and going to sit down.
Idi gave her forge a few pumps of hot air to keep the coals smoldering before plopping down on a sharpening bench and rolling the wheel to start the sharpening process.
Elide's knee bounced up and down while she waited, taking glances over at the woman occasionally. She didn't know what was wrong with her.
Idi let her robe fall away and she started to hum as she pumped the wheel into motion and sharpened the knives. Her eyes were half closed, but she was focused on what she was doing with her hands. Making intricate little turns with the metal to assure sharpness… shine…. and general high quality…
Elide smiled a little, "What are you humming?" She asked, curiosity peaked.
Idi tiltled her head to listen to Eldie’s question better. “Oh, just an old song the bard sings on his way down this street. It really is quite catchy.”
"I don't think I've ever head it before…" Elide rubbed at her arm, "Then again I don't get out much."
Idi hummed softly. “He might come down when you are here if you’re lucky enough.”
Elide sighed a little and nodded, "Maybe… what's your name?"
Idi smiled and looked over at her. “No one ever asks my name. My name’s Idien. But you can call me Idi.”
"Nice to meet you, Idi," Elide smiled back, "I'm Elide."
Idi bowed her head and lifted up the knife she was working on. “It’s a pleasure to meet you!”
"It's nice to meet you too," Elide sighed a little, "So, why'd you become a blacksmith?"
Idi picked up the second knife after setting the first, now sharp and gleaming knife down.
“My father taught me how to be a blacksmith, since I was his only child. He was the best blacksmith in town in his day. He was very kind and soft-hearted.”
Elide nodded, "I'm sure he was. And I'm sure you'll be an amazing blacksmith too."
Idi smiled and started on the second. “Thank you. I like to think I’m a good blacksmith.”
“I have no doubt that you are.” Elide crossed
one leg over the other.
Idi grinned at her and went back to the knife. “So who are these for?”
“My brother. He sent me on a bunch of errands.” Elide shrugged with a small sigh.
Idi laughed softly. “Sounds annoying.”
"You have no idea, honestly I wish he would just disappear." Elide complained.
Idi hummed and smiled over at her. “But you still love him.”
Elide's face fell and she looked away, "Yeah, guess so."
Idi rose her eyebrows. “You don’t? What did he do to earn the hate from such a lovely lady?”
Elide shook her head a little, “It doesn’t matter, not worth talking about.”
Idi frowned but let it go. “Okay. I’ll leave you alone, then.” She smiled. “Sometimes I’m too curious for my own good.”
