He put his own plate in the sink. "You could put your plate in the sink." he said then walked to the table and sat back down sharpening his knives.
He put his own plate in the sink. "You could put your plate in the sink." he said then walked to the table and sat back down sharpening his knives.
Chiara did so and followed him, grappling with her indecision to kill him. “I thought you said you were unarmed?”
"I was, but i am currently sharpening my knives. They are dull." he sighed and continued sharpening a knife, when he finished he slid it on his finger by accidently cutting it.
Chiara leaned against the edge of the table. “Right, I’m just gonna…” she pulled out her gun again and pressed it against the back of his head.
He sighed. "Your just gonna…. kill me." he said to her
Chiara shrugged. “I’ve been offered money. I need said money. You’re the only way to get it.” She was choosing her friend over a stranger, she told herself. “My client is getting impatient.”
"I understand." He sighed. "You know I was sent to kill you also. By some rich family… The Rotomas I believe." He said and didn't move. He could stab her but he chose not to. "Could you take My cat after you are done?" He asked
Chiara arched an eyebrow. "You're going to let me kill you? That's a first." She pressed the gun harder against the side of his head, steeling herself. She didn't know where are this reluctance was coming from, she'd killed people before… but she'd never actually talked to them. Or eaten pie with them.
"are you going to do it." He asked impatiently. Still holding the knife and looking across the room.
You weakling. You absolute coward. Chiara gritted her teeth, willing herself to just shoot.
Finally, she pulled the trigger
There was an empty clicking sound. She was out of ammo.
Chiara growled in frustration and flung the gun across the room.
Slowly Cole stood up. He handed her a knife and walked out of the room with two files. He handed her one file. It had all the info about her in it. He sat down and started reading a file he had put together by himself. It was about his client.
Chiara stared at the file, then back at the knife. Why was he arming her? Why was he giving her a file on her?? She blinked up at him. “What’s going on here?”
"you may dispose of that file. Technically ever since I was handed that file I didn't plan on killing you… No offense. But my client, he was the one I wanted to kill." Cole looked through the file while sharpening another knife.
Chiara flipped through the file, making sure it didn't have any.. unsavoury information on it before tearing it up. "Why would I be offended that you didn't want to kill me? And also, two more questions: Firstly, why did your client want me dead? Second, why do you want them dead?"
"firstly. I have no clue, usually my clients have some sort of connection. But there is none. Secondly, I want them dead because for one I believe they set me up. two because I know that they plan on killing me instead of giving a reward. And lastly because they overall seem very shady, and fake." He answered.
Chiara inhaled, taking in the information. "How do I know you're not lying?" But she did know, she believed him.
"maybe because I handed you a knife and let you destroy your own file." He replied and put down another newly sharpened knife.
Chiara tilted her head in acknowledgment. It was a good point. "So," she started. "You want me to help you kill your client? Is that what this is all about?"
"No. I am going to kill my client. I just needed to know you weren't going to get in the way." He said then shut the file. "But I will allow you to come with me and steal whatever you want from his estate."
Well…. this is…. interesting.
Don't trust him. It could be a double-cross.
But why go through all that trouble when he can kill me now?
Maybe he wants something more from you..
Chiara leaned back in her seat, looking him over. "And how are you planning on doing this without getting caught?"
"Well I will call later claim to have killed you. Weirdly enough all the proof he wants is the knife I used. Not cleaned." He said then walked to the kitchen holding a knife. He pulled up his sleeve then placed his arm over the sink.
Chiara quickly plucked the knife from his grasp. "He's going to do blood tests on it, you idiot. Let me."
And before Cole could protest, she rolled up the sleeve of her uninjured arm and carved a long gash into it.
He nodded then went to the bathroom and came back holding a roll of bandages. "Here, when you feel you are done cutting your arm you can wrap it up." He said to her.
Chiara set the knife aside, taking the bandages. "Thanks. What do you know about this family, so far?"
"super rich. Has lots of enemies. A dead ex. And nobody else." Cole said as he went to sit on the counter.
“Name, age, appearance, phone number?” Chiara raised her eyebrows in question. “Information on ex? The guy’s background? Country of origin? Anything on his criminal record?”
"Haven Rotomas, 58, phone number unknown, ex was 2 years younger nice volunteered a lot. Everything I have on his background is in the file on the table. And no crime record known." Cole responded.
Chiara nodded, exhaling slowly. “Alright. There’s one problem, though….”
"yeah what is it." He asked and looked at her.
“I’ll die if you don’t,” she said bluntly, reaching down to dust off her leggings. And it was the truth, her client had promised that her death would eventually come to fruition if his didn’t.
