"Calm down, guys. Asura, just summon an Earth demon. I know you can. If Pluto's going to be this distracted, we need to do something about it. Besides, Earth demons are basically just giant animals with intent to kill. Nobody's gonna cry if one dies."
"Do you think that'll work? Even with Samandriel's blockades?"
"I don't know, but don't you think we should at least try it? Plus, if one demon can get in, maybe the rest of us can sneak back out somehow."
"Maybe, I can try," he said, moving his hand slightly. Gold dust trailed behind it, and he snapped his fingers. A raging fire started in front of him, then went out within seconds, revealing a very confused-looking demon.
"There, see?" Mike looked pleased. "Better be quick, they're vicious when they're cornered."
Pluto's eyes immediately went wide, small dots of gold appearing in between the rings over her eyes. More starry goop made its way down her face, and she licked her lips
"Wait!" Asura said, putting his arm in front of Pluto. "It's so cute, look at his little horns! They're like baby deer horns!"
The demon shook it's head, then snarled. It's originally adorable face twisted, and it grew to the size of the truck. Flames licked at its taloned feet.
"Told ya," Mike said.
Pluto let a frightening, needle-toothed grin spread across her face. Her hands sharped to black claws, oozing with the same starry liquid as her eyes. She lunged at the demon, slashing its right arm
"No!" Asura said, holding her back. "Let me get another one, I can't let this one die!"
The demon screeched and reared back, morphing fluidly into a gryphon with bat-like wings. It's fur was completely on fire now, and it swiped at Pluto, aiming to cut her in half.
(I gotta go, somebody else can take over for the demon if you want)
As soon as Pluto smelled the demon's blood, she felt something that felt like an adrenaline high but better sweep over her. She was powerful. And she loved it. Without realizing it, her wings extended, the massive appendages flapping behind her. The gold of the ends of her feathers blended into an inky blue-black, and with another flap the golden ends sharpened to bladelike points. She dove out of the way before rising above the demon, slashing at its back and laughing manically
"GOD DAMMIT PLUTO!" Asura shrieked. The demon jumped back, whining. "DON'T TORTURE THE POOR THING!"
She turned to look at Asura, eyes glinting hungrily. For a moment, Asura looked far more appetizing. But then she realized that the demon was almost done for. She whipped around, slashing it across the muzzle and clipping its neck with the bladepoints of her wings
He turned around, covering his eyes. "Is it dead yet?" he mumbled.
Pluto slashed a nasty gash across the demon's throat, and it hit the floor dead. She could see its soul, burning brighter and brighter as it prepared to leave the body. She licked blood off her claws, slowly walking over to the dead demon. She held out her hand, and a blackish-red ball of flames was drawn into her palm
Mike watched with interest, making sure that he and Red were safely out of the way of the demon's still-twitching claws.
Pluto opened her mouth, and the flame-like wisps of the demon's soul were sucked down her throat. She wiped her mouth, her eyes slowly reverting back to their normal green and her hands slowly turning back to normal. She flapped her wings again, grateful to be able to stretch them a little
"Better?" Mike asked. "You can open your eyes now, Asura."
Pluto kept her wings out a little longer, watching as the sharp feathers returned to their usual fluffy selves. She had forgot how nice it was to have them out, despite the fact that they were now ruffled and a little itchy from being used as weapons. "Yeah um. Better."
"Is it gone? Is the demon still there?"
"No, it's still lying in a puddle of its own blood, but I think I can mojo it away now." She concentrated, staring at the dead demon, before snapping her fingers and the demon dissolving into black ash
Asura got up with a sigh. "I'm never doing that again," he muttered, kicking a rock.
(apparently Asura's a softie now)
(lol) Pluto finally tucked her wings away, trying and failing to wipe all of the blood and starry goo off herself. "Well, other than probably traumatizing the neighbors, that went pretty well."
(lol that's cute XD)
"All right," Mike said. "Now that that's settled, how about we head inside and let Zoe out? She should have a chance to really meet her dad."
"Maybe we should wait until everyone's had a chance to sleep. I'll take the truck, you guys can have the house."
"I'd rather her stay in there a few days until I figure my shit out," Asura said, running a hand through his hair. "She looks so much like Milo…"
Pluto walked up to the apartment door and unlocked it, letting everyone inside
Mike shrugged. "Have it your way. Night, Pluto."
