That's okay. Ready to start?
yee boi
It was another overcast, cloudy day. Ad hoped it would rain. He rose out of bed rather early and walked around his castle, humming a slow, deep song. It was another wonderful day alone. But this day was somehow less wonderful. There was a hole in his chest. As he swept the hallways, his black cloak billowing, he realized he was lonely. Again.
(Buuuooomp)
(sorry I haven't responded. I've been kinda absent on notebook lately, it's been a crazy day lol)
(Oof. That’s okay.)
Charlotte sighed, looking up at the dismal sky. It was raining again. I didn't realize how dreary the dark kingdom would be, she thought as she walked, taking in the gloomy scenery. Still, anything is better than staying with my parents, where they would've married me off to man I didn't even know…
Ad sighed slowly. His breath came up to his face and faded off into the cold air. He smiled. He wasn’t alone. He had the Darkness and his magic. The Dark would always be by his side.
As she walked, she began to hum to keep her spirits up. The further she went, the less light there was, and the colder it got. She shivered, wishing she had brought a coat to keep her warm. Almost there, she thought.
Ad plopped down in his foyer, smiling up at the shaded, yet high ceiling. He loved his life, no matter how lonely he felt. He shifted into a laying position and sighed happily, the condensation drifting up.
There she was. At the gates. She could see her breath in front of her, and she froze, not sure what to do. The man who lived here didn't exactly know she was coming. It would be rude to just barge in on his life and possibly screw it up. She took a step back, hesitating. But… this is the one place nobody would dare go, she thought. Nobody but me. With that, she knocked on the heavy wooden gates, tense as she waited for something to happen.
(sorry idk what the setting is so I just came up with something)
(Oh his castle is just straight up there. The drawbridge is lowered over a little lake and there’s a patch of land outside of his doors)
(okay lets pretend she crossed the bridge and all that snazzy stuff bc I don't feel like rewriting it)
(Honestly a mood.)
Ad turned to the door with a flicking of his robe. He walked over, opening the door a smidge. The knock was so soft, he might’ve been imagining it…
Then he saw her.
Charlotte gasped a bit. She didn't know why she was so surprised, she knew he'd be here. Everyone says he was almost always here, alone and in the dark. His presence nearly sapped her powers, and she could feel the light inside of her flicker. "H-hi," she choked out, not knowing what else to say.
Ad straightened in his posture, squinting at her. “Hello, there. How did you get here, girl?” She looked bright. Too bright against his eyes. He felt like he was being snuffed out by just looking at her.
She felt smaller than ever now, but it was too late to turn back. "My name is Charlotte Smalls," she said, her voice sounding much more confident than she felt. "I'm supposed to be getting married next week to a prince that I strongly dislike, so I ran, and now I'm here."
“So you entered the Forest of Darkness? You know I have a spell set over it that makes it impossible to escape it. You were very lucky you made it out alive.” Ad sighed and shook his head.
"I'm aware, and I handled it just fine," she said, her tone a bit bitter. "I'm not lucky, I'm just not stupid. I know how to keep myself safe."
“I am not calling you a fool. I’m just saying it was unwise to step foot in my forest.” Ad leaned against his door.
"Why do you say that? I'm here in one piece, aren't I?" She crossed her arms over her chest and glared up at him.
“You could’ve starved, died of thirst or the cold,” Ad pointed out bluntly.
Charlotte snickered. "Me? Do you have any idea who I am, or what I'm capable of?"
Ad rolled his eyes. “You’re going to try and size up the Lord of Darkness?” That, too, is unwise, He thought, rolling his eyes again.
"That's exactly what I'm doing. What are you going to do about it?" she challenged. She felt her light brighten slightly, and there was a playful glint in her eyes.
Ad crossed his arms. “I am not going to hurt you, if that is what you’re trying to push me to do.”
