Kasey laughed lightly and smiled at him. "Do you have a problem with me looking at you?" she teased. "I should think it was normal for a girl to want to look at her boyfriend."

@blue_topaz

"I definitely do not have a problem with you looking at me," Barry chuckled. "Nor do I have a problem with ogling at you all day."

Kasey blushed a little and smiled at him. "Mmhm, I'm sure…"

The waitress came with their food and set it in front of them, placing the fries in the center of the table. "Is there anything else I can get you two?" she asked.

"I think that's all for me. Bare?" Kasey said as she looked over at him.

@blue_topaz

"I'm fine, and thank you for the food," he said to the waitress, smiling politely. She nodded and left, wishing them a good meal, and he plucked a fry from the basket. "Oh yum."

@blue_topaz

(I was thinking maybe we could do a little plot twist? Barry's parents hear about Kasey by accident and insist on meeting her, which doesn't go well bc they aren't really good at being parents?)

Barry pulled off the highway, growing more and more anxious by the second. He slid his eyes sideways to Kasey, who was sitting next to him. "Sorry for the long ride, we're almost there." His voice came out saturated with something akin to fear.

@blue_topaz

"Hm? Y-Yeah. Nervous." A partial truth. "I should warn you, my parents aren't……….. the softest people. Sort of distant." Another half-truth.

@blue_topaz

The corner of Barry's lips twitched up. "Mm, I have no doubt about that. It's just… I haven't actually talked to them since uni started up again."

@blue_topaz

Barry wasn't so sure, but he nodded anyways.
A few minutes later he pulled into an all-too-familiar driveway. The house was a bungalow, relatively nice, with redbrick walls and a simple grey roof. There was a small tree in the front yard, a wind chime hanging from one of its branches.

Barry nodded distractedly. "Mm." He stayed seated for a moment, trying to summon enough willpower to make him open his car door. Eventually, he did, coming around the other side of the car to help his girlfriend.

@blue_topaz

No. "Yup, let's go." He slipped his hand into hers and drew her towards the front door. It took him a second, but he eventually mustered enough courage to lift a hand and ring the doorbell. The faint sound of barking sounded, which brought a tiny smile to his lips.

@blue_topaz

"Mm," was all Barry had time to say before the door swung open, revealing a short, plump woman with eyes just like his and mousy brown hair that fell to her shoulders. "Mum, hi," he greeted softly, stepping forward to give her a tentative hug. "Barry," she returned, the barest hint of a smile on her features. A tall, lanky, balding man appeared at the bottom of the stairs, quickly coming up. "Hey, son."

Barry hugged him too and stepped in, clearing his throat and tugging Kasey into the house with him. "Err, this is Kasey. My girlfriend."
