Kasey squeezed his hand lightly and looked back up at him. "I am sure of it, and there's nothing you can say or do that would change my mind," she assured him gently.
Kasey squeezed his hand lightly and looked back up at him. "I am sure of it, and there's nothing you can say or do that would change my mind," she assured him gently.
Barry’s blush deepened. “Thanks, Kase,” he said quietly, kissing her cheek.
"Any time, Bare," Kasey said softly, smiling at him.
Their milkshakes came shortly after, and Kasey thanked the waitress. Pulling her shake closer to herself, she took a sip of it and hummed in satisfaction.
Barry tried his own, pleasantly surprised by how good the sweet drink tasted. “Yum.” He didn’t notice that he’d accidentally smudged a bit of froth across his lower lip.
"I thought you'd like it," Kasey said with a smile. Her gaze flicked down to his lip and she giggled slightly. Grabbing a napkin, she reached across and wiped the froth off his lip. "You've got some… Okay, got it."
Barry went pink. “Th-Thanks. Um.” His flustered thoughts decided to imagine what Kasey’s lips would taste like after the milk shake, which only caused his shyness to strengthen.
Kasey blushed slightly and gave him a small smile.
"I really need to remember to keep my blockings up around you…" she mumbled, mostly talking to herself.
By now, Barry's face was the same colour as the fruit from which his milkshake had come from. "Oh. Uh." He faltered, hesitating for a few seconds before sliding his hand to the back of Kasey's neck and pulling her to him.
Her lips did taste good, like sugar and whipping cream and strawberry ice cream. Barry didn't care whether that particular thought was being stopped by her blockings or not.
Kasey blinked a couple of times in surprise before she let her eyes fall shut as she kissed him back. Her lips weren't the only ones that tasted like the sweet treat. And, man, did she like it…
Barry's hands settled just above the curve of her hips, tugging her closer. His mouth moved surely against hers, and he knew he was quickly becoming addicted to the taste of strawberry milkshakes.
Kasey was glad she'd chosen to sit in a booth as they kissed. Her cheeks held a faint, somewhat flustered blush, and her lips moved in sync with Barry's.
Barry pulled away slightly, eyes meeting hers. For a moment, neither of them dared to breathe. Then, he inhaled deeply and went back to his milkshake, thoroughly flustered. "Sorry."
"What are you sorry for?" Kasey asked somewhat breathlessly as she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"I move too fast– I don't want to make you uncomfortable–" He bit his lip, looking away.
Kasey set a gentle hand on his arm. "Barry… I wasn't uncomfortable. If I was, I would have pulled away."
Barry turned his blue eyes to her grey-hazel ones. "Tell me if you're ever uncomfortable, okay?" he implored her, voice soft.
"I will," Kasey said, her voice equally soft as she nodded.
Barry leaned in for another kiss, relieved. "I–" He almost said it out loud. But it was too early, too forward, too much.
Kasey met him in the middle softly. She held the kiss for a moment before pulling away and smiling at him. "Okay… We should maybe actually order food…"
"Mm…… yeah." Barry smiled a little. "You know the place, what do you want?"
"I want a bacon cheeseburger, but you can get whatever you want," Kasey said with a shrug.
“I’ll probably get that too, then. Want to share a big bowl of fries?” Barry shifted slightly closer.
"Fries sound great!" Kasey agreed with a grin. "I swear, this is probably the most cliché American meal ever."
Barry laughed. “That it is.” He swayed slightly in his seat, almost drunk on happiness.
Kasey looked over at him in concern when he swayed, unaware of the cause. "You okay?"
“Hm? Yeah, definitely.” He grinned, and the waitress came back to take their orders.
Kasey told the waitress her order, along with the fries she and Barry would be sharing. When she was finished, she turned back to face him and tilted her head to the side.
“What’s up?” He leaned forward, resting his chin in one hand.
"Nothin'. Just lookin' at you," Kasey said with a small smile as she blushed.
He blushed too, mimicking her accent. “Just lookin’?” Leaning in, he brushed his lips across hers before pulling away.
