Kasey stopped what she was doing and sighed, chewing at her lip.
"Sorry… I– Sorry," she mumbled as she looked at the ground.
Kasey stopped what she was doing and sighed, chewing at her lip.
"Sorry… I– Sorry," she mumbled as she looked at the ground.
“Hey—“ Barry came around her side so that he was facing her, and tilted her chin up. “You have no reason to apologize, ‘kay?”
Kasey gave him a half smile and nodded a little.
"Okay," she said softly. "Thank you…"
“Anytime.” He ruffled her hair slightly. “Now let’s go have a fantastic lunch together.”
"Yes, let's," Kasey agreed with a slight giggle. She reached up and pecked his lips quickly before reaching around him to unlock the car.
Barry went around the the other side, sliding into his seat with a happy glance at Kasey. He buckled his seat belt, smiling.
Kasey plopped down into her seat and shit her door behind her. She stuck the key in the ignition and started the car as she buckled herself up. Shooting a quick smile at Barry, she started to back out and head towards the diner.
“What’s the diner called?” Barry asked, shifting slightly to face her.
"Daisy's Diner," Kasey answered with a smile, her gaze flicking to him momentarily.
“Aw that’s a sweet name.” Barry chuckled, tempted to lean over and kiss her cheek.
"Isn't it? It's really cute. And the owner, Daisy, is really great," Kasey said, still smiling as she continued to drive.
“Sounds good.” Barry peeled up when he spotted a building resembling something from the 50s. “That jt?”
"Yup, it is!" Kasey exclaimed excitedly as she parked the car. She unbuckled and climbed out, waiting for, Barry.
Barry followed after, staring up at the place. "I'm impressed already."
Kasey smiled over at him as she pushed the door open. They were met with a cliche 50s-looking diner with seats and booths spread throughout the room. A short, heavy-set woman with dark blonde hair piled into a bun on the top of her head greeted them with a grin.
"Welcome to Daisy's! Would you like a table or a booth?" she asked.
"Wow." Barry stared around the place. "Uh, Kase? What do you want?"
"A booth would be great," Kasey said with a smile, and the waitress led them over to one.
Barry latched onto Kasey's hand, electing to slide into the same side as her once again. "This place is impressive."
"It is, yeah," Kasey agreed with a nod.
The waitress set their menus in front of them before pulling out her notepad. "Can I start you two off with some drinks?"
"I'll get a strawberry milkshake, please," Kasey ordered with a polite smile.
"Uh…. I'll get the same, please." Barry squeezed Kasey's hand under the table.
"Two strawberry milkshakes comin' right up, then!" the waitress chirped, scribbling down their order before walking away.
Kasey squeezed Barry's hand back, looking over at him with a smile. "Hey."
"Hey." Barry was suddenly nervous. "Hey."
"You okay?" Kasey asked, giving him a slightly concerned look.
"I'm fine," he assured her, squeezing her hand again. "A bit nervous. I shouldn't be. Sorry."
"It's okay, don't worry about it," Kasey assured him softly. "Can I ask why you're nervous?"
"You." Barry leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek. "It's stupid… sorry.."
"Don't apologize, please. You don't need to… Why do I make you nervous?" Kasey asked gently.
"Because," he explained, "You're just…. so– so– amazing. I don't always know what to do with myself. Or if I'm going to mess everything up."
Kasey blushed and looked down, shaking her head a bit. "You won't mess it up; I know you won't."
Barry raised his eyebrows, cheeks pink. "I wouldn't be too sure of that." His thumb began brushing lightly over her knuckles.
