Adonis nodded and looked back to Cyprus, seeing the girl from earlier near them. Adonis payed her no mind and went back to focusing on the other man. "Are you enjoying the play?" He asked, switching his fingers to pull at the back of his head.

Cyprus nodded, a very faint, excited smile crossing his face as he glanced over towards the play, where a few of the actors had already begun to talk. "I've always watched them," he explained, looking back towards Adonis. "I try to get out of the apothecary as much as I can to see the plays."

"I wasn't trying to imply anything, I just don't want to inconvenience you.", he protested, following after her.

"And there I go again, jumping to conclusions before I know the facts," Aditi said ruefully, shaking her head. "My name is Aditi. Who are you?"

@blue_topaz

“I am Phoebus.”, he introduced himself. “Nice to meet you.” Wiping some sweat off his forehead, Phoebus stepped into a shadow and out of the path of the sun.

Theresa sighed when she had went through the whole crowd and started to walk back to the market, needing to buy some bread for tomorrow.

"Same here," He agreed, finally letting go of his hair since he wasn't so nervous anymore. The guy was easy to talk to but he would be careful in shaking his hands. "The plays fit right into my schedule though because by the time I'm done with my shift, one has just started."

Cyprus nodded, noticing the way Adonis seemed to be tense, and the faint shaking in his hands. Deciding not to press Adonis about it, he gave the other man a small, reassuring smile to let them know that they shouldn't be nervous around him. "Which has been your favorite play so far?" Cyprus asked, deciding to go with the play subject.

@EmptyNebula group

(Btw, Adonis stopped being nervous and was careful about shaking Cyprus' hands like this emoji 🤝)

Adonis thought for a few seconds, trying to remember the names of all the plays he attended. He wouldn't say that he had a favorite but he would choose the most liked. "I don't necessarily have a favorite since I like all plays, the good and the bad, but I would have to say…" He trailed off for a bit, recollecting his thoughts. "…Ichneutae of Sophocles."

"Phoebus… the other name of Lord Apollo? Some would believe it rather risky to name yourself after a god for fear of incurring their wrath."

@blue_topaz

“I did not name myself. My mother was a priestess under Apollo, she saw it fit to name me as I am.” Phoebus shrugged an elegant shoulder.

A slight smile appeared at Aditi's mouth. "Well, you do resemble the sun god."

@blue_topaz

Phoebus's eyebrows shot up, cheeks instantly colouring. "I– I didn't think I gave people that– that impression." He fidgeted with the edge of his tunic awkwardly.

"For most females, I suppose," Aditi said, smiling fondly at Phoebus' expression. "And some males, as well."

@blue_topaz

Phoebus paused, taken aback by her boldness, despite the fact that she was a servant. Unlike many others, his reaction was not one of anger, but one of pleasant surprise. "I should hope so."

Cyprus nodded, frowning faintly as he attempted to remember what play that had been. At this point, he had seen so many that they all seemed to muddle into one. "I especially enjoy the ones about heroes, or the kings…like everyone else I suppose," he answered with a light chuckle. Sure, everyone liked the heroic ones, but he had always enjoyed them from a young age. If he hadn't become a healer, he might have wanted to join some sort of army.

Adonis hummed in understanding but continued on. "I loathe those ones actually. They are to cliche for my liking and the ending is all the same. I especially love tragedies though, the endings are well, endless unlike the other plays. You can already find it how it ends right from the beginning." He said nonchalantly, watching the play going on again.

"Love tragedies…" Cyprus nodded with a small hum, agreeing with Adonis. "The tragedies are always good," he added, tilting his head to the side faintly as he watched the play with faint interest. It seemed to be a comedy because of the odd masks and the laughter erupting from the crowd.

@EmptyNebula group

"Not for me, sometimes it's just bad acting that ruins it for me." He disagreed, looking back at Cyprus. "What's your favorite genre of plays other than heroes and princes?" He asked, sincerely wanting to hear his answer. He loved hearing people's opinions as long as they didn't get defensive about his own.

"I don't have much of a preference, now that I think of it. I just watch whatever is playing," Cyprus answered with a small shrug as he glanced over towards Adonis. It was true that he had never really liked or disliked plays. All he liked to do was watch. "And you?"

@EmptyNebula group

"I would say things that start off happy and end sad I guess, it takes me away from reality in someway." He answered, playing with his fingers again. "The play is going to end soon and you seem nice, is there someway we could meet again?" He asked while putting his satchel back on.

"Meet again?" Cyprus repeated, trying to hide the almost surprised and incredulous tone in his voice. Since most of his time was devoted to his apprenticeship, making friends or even acquaintances was a bit odd for him. "We can go wherever you'd like to go," he answered after a few moments as he tried to think of a nice place for them to meet up.

@EmptyNebula group

Adonis looked towards him in shock. "Really?" He asked again, not sure if he heard right. Usually people told him to piss off and only acted like his friend since they felt bad for him. The second he asked if they could meet up again, they changed into a whole new person. He only asked because he was feeling lucky but was surprised when Cyprus said yes.

Deleted user

"We can definitely meet again. I could use a friend anyway," Cyprus answered with a small, kind smile as he noticed how shocked Adonis seemed to be. "What do you usually do for fun?" He asked, deciding that they could meet up and do something that would interest both of them.

@EmptyNebula group

"I don't know, the funnest thing I have ever done was washing the dishes. Is that fun enough?" He asked, slightly shrugging his shoulders while looking at Cyprus, hoping it was fun enough.

Deleted user

"Dishes are fun, but I think I have another idea," Cyprus answered, frowning slightly as he tried to think of something that would be interesting. After a few moments, he looked back towards Adonis, a small grin lighting up his features. "Have you ever ridden a horse?" Cyprus asked, knowing that he had a friend on the outskirts of town that owned a few horses that they would be willing to lend him. Perhaps it would be fun for him and Adonis to ride?

Aditi let out a silent breath, pleased to see that her gamble had worked. Phoebus had seemed too relaxed to take offense at her bold manner of speaking. "I presume that you lean towards males as well, like your namesake?"

@blue_topaz

Phoebus flinched back, thoroughly shocked. How can she be so bold? She’s a woman and a servantc I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like her before.. In truth, it was a refreshing change from the depressing, forced docileness of many other women he’d spoken to. “Err, depends.”, he admitted, rubbing at the nape of his neck. “You?”

"No, but I like seeing them run and would love to try." He answered with another slight shrug. He liked seeing the horses run and how calm they were most of the time. He never got the chance to ride one because either people thought he was mad when they met him or he didn't have the money. "I would like to ride one though."

"Just women," Aditi said, shrugging. It was a relief to be able to speak her mind in the presence of someone who wouldn't mind her honesty. "That is the benefit of living here, rather than in Nubia- people are more open-minded towards people like ourselves."
