"Oh. Right, right. Of course," Kasey said, taking a deep breath and shaking her head to clear it. "Okay, let's go, yeah?"
"Oh. Right, right. Of course," Kasey said, taking a deep breath and shaking her head to clear it. "Okay, let's go, yeah?"
Barry nodded, hooking too fingers around the crook of her elbow to steer her around a group of (possibly drunk) rambunctious teens. "This-a-way."
"It's crazy over here," Kasey chuckled as they made their way over.
"Well, she's a popular author."
(Let's skip.)
"Thank you for taking me," Kasey said, grinning up at Barry.
Barry's heart tattoo flushed for a moment. "Anytime." Ohmygodit'stimeforthelunchdateohmygod. "Hungry?"
"Yeah. Where were we going again?" Kasey asked, looking up at him softly.
"Taco place." He didn't dare look down at her, knowing his face would burn the instant his eyes met hers.
When they arrived, they chose a spot near to the window and sat down across from eachother. Barry was suddenly quiet.
"You okay?" Kasey asked, smiling at Barry from across the table as she rubbed her tattoo.
"Nervous." he admitted, scratching at the nape of his neck sheepishly. "It's been ages since I've done this.."
"Since you dated? Oh, it's been a while for me, too," Kasey admitted with a small chuckle, pressing at her tattoo. I can feel it changing colors…
Barry ruffled his hair anxiously, rolling the sleeves of his button-down up to his elbows. "I'm not.. very good at this. Sorry."
"No, you're great! This is great! I like this," Kasey said, her voice growing softer with each word.
(Gmorning)
Barry’s heart twinged. She likes this. “Well, I guess I’m going something right.” He tried on a nervous smile, pulling a menu towards him. “What do you want to order?”
(Good morning!
I'm not excited for work…)
"Um… Probably just some steak tacos," Kasey said, glancing over the menu. "Oh, we could get chips and queso!"
(Oof sorry
May you have a ridiculously amazing day at work)
“Completely up to you.”, he smiled. “I’m fine with everything.”
(Heh. Thanks…)
Kasey chewed on her lip as her eyes flicked across the menu. "Okay, then. Chips and queso for an appetizer, and I'll get steak tacos."
“Sounds great.” Barry called over a waiter and ordered their meal.
"So, do you have any classes later today?" Kasey asked, folding her hands in her lap.
“Yeah, just Psychology.” Barry shifted in his seat. “Do you have anything other than calculus?”
"Just a tech class after that," Kasey answered with a shrug. "Probably pretty boring stuff to you."
"I don't know much about tech in general, so I can't say." Barry leaned one elbow against the table, keeping his eyes rested lightly on hers. Beneath his shirt, he could feel several bird tattoos shifting and moving around.
"You must like birds, huh?" Kasey mused. She blinked, realizing how random that must have sounded. "Sorry, that was random. I just noticed that you have quite a few tattoos that are birds…"
Barry shifted in his seat again, slightly uncomfortable. It all started with the crow. Morrigan. "I dunno.. I guess I like what they represent. Flying and freedom and such."
Kasey noticed how uncomfortable he looked at the question and thought it best to not ask further questions.
"Okay, sure. I get that," she said with a slow nod, though she wasn't sure he was telling the whole truth. "They are pretty cool."
Barry shrugged. "Tattoos are.. sort of my thing. I have a lot."
"I've noticed," Kasey chuckled. "Which is your favorite?"
Barry hesitated. "I have a…… crow tattoo, here," he pointed to just beneath his collarbone, "I've had it for a while… I dunno."
"Sounds cool," Kasey said with a smile. She wanted to ask why he got it, but, since he never really seemed to like to talk about his tattoos, she didn't say anything.
Barry shrugged again. "How's your tattoo holding up?", he changed the subject, taking a sip of his water. The water came back with their chips and queso, and he thanked him before plucking a tortilla chip from the pile.
