Kasey clicked her tongue and shrugged, holding back laughter. "You may never know…"
Kasey clicked her tongue and shrugged, holding back laughter. "You may never know…"
"Ka-ase.", he complained, making a pleading puppy face. "Come onnn."
"I mean, I could give in and tell you… Or, I could sit here and watch you be in mental torture until I decide to tell you. If I ever do, that is…" Kasey teased, her eyes glittering.
Barry groaned, collapsing theatrically on the bed. “Oh come on Kase.”
"What, Bare? Is something wrong?" Kasey asked, feigning innocence.
Barry covered his face with his hands, the top of his head resting just next to her knee on the bed. “You tell me.”, he grumbled good-naturedly.
"Gosh, Barry," Kasey laughed. "Do you really want me to tell you?"
“Mm’curious.”, he mumbled through his hands, parting his fingers just enough to peek up at her.
"Okay… You just seemed more of an action/adventure book kinda guy. I don't know…" Kasey said with a shrug.
Barry lifted his hands from his face. “That’s it? I was expecting something slightly more earth shattering, Kase.”
"Yeah, which is why I teased you with it so much," Kasey chuckled.
Barry reached up to poke her. “I’ll remember this when I get an opportunity to tease you.”
"Wait, what?" Kasey gasped. "Nonono! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
Barry chuckled, poking her again. “I’m not as defenceless as you might think.”
"Stop poking me!" Kasey laughed, reaching over to poke him herself.
Barry jerked away, laughing. “That tickles!” Rolling off the bed, he lay on the floor and grinning up at her, eyes sparkling.
"You started it!" Kasey exclaimed, sticking her leg off the bed to poke him with her toe.
Barry rolled away, body convulsing with laughter. “Kase!”
"If you tickle me, I'm going to tickle you. That's just how this works!" Kasey laughed, sliding off her bed to lean her back against it as she reached over and tickled Barry.
Barry’s face flushed when her fingers connected with his stomach, but he covered it up by laughing hysterically. “No— Kase— stop!”
"What's the magic word~?" Kasey singsonged, giggling as she continued her attack.
"P-please!", Barry gasped out between bursts of laughter. He finally managed to snatch her wrists and hold them in place right above his chest, grinning broadly.
Kasey laughed a bit longer, though her eyebrows raised in shock when he suddenly grabbed her wrists.
"Okay, fine," she said, grinning at him.
Barry grinned back, though his face was flushed. "Thank you." He kept hold of her wrists, her pulse swelling beneath his thumbs.
Kasey blushed when she realized she was hovering over Barry and he still held her wrists. She bit her lip as her gaze flicked across his face before landing on his eyes.
You should pull back. You're just going to make this awkward.
Maybe, but… Wow, he has nice eyes…
Kasey bit her lip, and his heart skipped a beat as her eyes landed on his. Ohgodohgodohgodohgod., was all he could think, mouth dry.
After what seemed like forever, he let go of her hands, face red.
Kasey pulled back and looked away, anywhere but Barry. She could feel her cheeks burning bright red, and she was pretty sure she could guess the color her tattoo was without looking.
"I'll be right back," she whispered, quickly standing and heading to the bathroom.
Barry sat up, putting his head in his hands. You idiot, you messed everything up! You complete and utter idiot! He had never felt so stupid in his life. Stop forcing yourself on her!
You know you like him, Kasey's thoughts told her when she was safely in the bathroom.
Yeah, as a friend…
Ha. You know that's not true. Just admit it to yourself.
…Okay, fine… I like him as more than a friend. But I can't tell him that.
Yes, you can. You just have to get past that shyness of yours and do it.
It's not that simple, and you know it. Plus, what if he doesn't like me that way?
…You really are oblivious, aren't you? You have seen the way he looks at you. Figure it out for yourself.

Barry took a deep breath in, trying to reign in his frenzied thoughts. You complete and utter imbecile! The one thing you had with her was your friendship, and now you've gone and ruined that too! There was a hard knot in his stomach, and no matter how hard he tried it would not come undone. The skylark tattoo on his forearm looked up at him forlornly, shaking its head.
