I finished reading The Song of Achilles (great book, hugely recommended), and it reminded me of my love for Ancient Greece and Greek myths, which I hadn't pursued in a while. So basically, welcome to this rp! Not everything here is going to be 100% historically correct, I'm pretty sure none of us are professional historians, but please try your best to be as accurate as you can :)

Some rules:
dn't be rude. If you act in a way that I think is not okay, you're out, don't argue

swearing is allowed

anything remotely steamy or dirty does not belong here

you know what else doesn't belong here? IRL sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ANY KIND OF HATE

if I've seen you do things on other chats or rps that I do not think is okay, I am allowed to say no when you ask to join

ASK BEFORE JOINING

lgbt+ is hella allowed

shipping is also allowed, but we're going to write it in as we go, not pre-determine ships, and we're not starting any crush stuff between our characters until at least page 6.

If a bit you post is going to have intense abuse or self harm, or etc, please write (TRIGGER WARNING) above it

please try to be as accurate as possible, do your research

descriptive posts on physical, verbal, and psychological abuse/self harm/etc are allowed, but again, put a trigger warning

if your character has undergone sexual abuse, do not go into detail about the scenes. If they have flashbacks about it, don't be overly descriptive. Obviously you can mention it, but be sensitive

you know what, imma repeat that last bit: BE SENSITIVE

BE RESPECTFUL

I am allowed to ask you to delete a post or leave.

no IRL fighting. If someone is being rude, then obviously call them out on it. But don't throw around unnecessary insults.

please don't make up a character on the spot for this, have a relatively developed one please

don't control other people's characters
ask permission before hurting another character
actually read these rules before asking to join
age limit is 16 to 22

OCs only

No Mary Sues

please avoid one liners… you aren't expected to write a paragraph every time it's your turn, but keep away from single sentences

I'll put up a template if anyone feels like joining :)

(sees the words 'song of achilles'
screams
calms down
looks back
screams some more)

(and just want to know, is this ancient greece historically accurate or ancient greece with the gods?)

@blue_topaz

The song of Achilles is so good omg

People will still believe in the gods, but I’d prefer not to have any gods show up or any demigods so we can leave the whole debate of how much was real up to interpretation

@blue_topaz

Okay it took me forever but I still can’t find that character form so I retyped jt in less detail, I’ll add to it when I find the original

Name: Phoebus (his last name is in the original form arg I’ll find it)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexuality: bi, leans towards males but keeps it a secret
Status: Middle Class
Occupation/Apprenticeship (if applicable): apprenticed under a bard and musician, he had to start over his apprenticeship when his past teacher died, which is why he's still apprenticed
Appearance: Bronzed golden curls, sort of sandy, cut shorter on the side and messier on the top, fair skin with a peachy-pink undertone on his cheeks, nose, shoulders, cheekbones, and knuckles, tawny gold eyes, like caramel, that capture the light and reflect it more than most people’s do. Sort of a far-off, dreamy gaze, pronounced cheekbones, light brown-dirty blonde eyebrows, thick lashes, but ones that aren’t particularly dark. Freckles e v e r y w h e r e, subtle in colour but all over his body, can have a blotchy complexion when very emotional. His face will flush or go pink very easily, especially when he’s flustered. Has a lean body, strong but not buff, visible muscles on his arms but still looks very soft. A faint crosshatching of golden hair on his arms, has very light thin facial hair when he grows it out but almost always kept it shaved, soft hands.
Personality: A dreamer, soft, thoughtful, but relatively extroverted. Polite and respectful, not afraid to break rules but just doesn’t often see the point. Artistic, soulful, feels deeply, mulls things over in his head a lot, a big thinker. Fairly abstract train of thought, pretty balanced when it comes to organization but he’s more loosely organized than having an ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’ manner, flexible and adaptable.
Flaws: can be in his head a little too much, won’t always stick to something until the end, can give up easily. Doesn’t think practically enough, cycles through being extremely overworking himself and bordering on lazy, trusts people too easily, changes his mind very often, doubts literally everything.
Likes: playing the lyre or any sort of instrument, singing, listening to music, songwriting, writing and reading poetry, listening to different philosophies, the afterglow of the sunrise, sleeping in, the warmth of the sun on his skin, cat-naps, clear skies, daydreaming, the sand and the sea, figs and sweet fruits, making art.
Dislikes: Any sort of violence, the whole idea of slavery, watching women be misused by men of the higher class and not being able to do anything, fire, storms, choppy waters, dark colours
Other: more of a dog person than a cat person, I’ll fill this in more when I find the original form

Name: Aditi Adeyami
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Lesbian
Status: Lower class
Occupation/Apprenticeship (if applicable): She works as a maid in the Athenian palace.
Appearance: She has thick, black, tight corkscrew curls that fall to just below her shoulders. It's usually pulled up so that it doesn't get into the food while she works. Her skin is dark brown, almost black. Her eyes are bright caramel-colored, with hints of slate-gray around the pupils and golden flecks. However, when she got into an argument with a nobleman, he pulled out his knife and ran it across her face. Therefore, one of her eyes are milky white and she has two jagged scars that run from her left eyes to the corner of her lip.
Personality: Aditi has a whimsical voice and uses flighty gestures. She almost skips when she walks, and has a tendency to wander off. She is comfortable around people, but has a habit of getting into their personal space and making them uncomfortable. In fact, Aditi acts especially alert around nobles, sometimes even coldly so. Although her whimsical nature often cause others to overlook her, Aditi is intelligent and thinks up unique solutions. She treats everyone with kindness and respect. Aditi is known to make the best out of any situation - this attribute was shown when her face was cut, but still did not let anyone's opinions on her new appearance faze her. A natural diplomat.
Flaws: Constantly daydreams, a bit flighty. Most think that she's slightly unhinged, which is true. Dislikes fighting and will actively avoid it.
Likes: Singing, weaving, going into nature.
Dislikes: Boys who overstep their boundaries, weapons. Especially if they're being used against her.
Other: She and her mother was taken from her homeland in a conquest and forced to work at the palace. The king could have fired her because of the scar, but he took pity on her mental state and continued to let her work there.

Would it be alright if I changed Cyprus' appearance and part of his personality? I have another concept that I wanted to try.

Sorry that I always change my characters. I always reread them and change my mind lol

@blue_topaz

And to those wondering, I am aware that last names as we think of them today didn't really exist in ancient Greece, they were more in the style of [first name] of [place name] (and that's a rough translation too), but I decided to sort of ignore that in this rp. Also, as far as language goes, obviously we'll be rping in English, but if the need rises for you to use a sentence in Ancient Greek, it's alright to use modern Greek and just google translate. If it's a single word though you could probably find a good Ancient Greek translation

Name: Cyprus
Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual (He tries to hide this from most people since some disapprove. Though he is fine with everyone, he tends to lean towards other men.)
Status: Middle Class
Occupation/Apprenticeship: He apprentices under an older, higher class man for medicine and healing. He’s the one that writes the medicinal properties and instructions in books, and will run errands every once in a while.
Appearance: Dark hair that falls in slight waves and curls, though he doesn’t put much thought into styling them, so it tends to be messy. Swept to the side. It’s grown out a bit, reaching the tips of his ears, though the length doesn’t go beyond that. A tanned, olived skin tone from being out in the sun for hours. There are some lighter undertones on his nose and cheeks. Lighter colored freckles on his neck and collarbone area, along with a few scattered across his arms as well. Made of faint scowls and thoughtful frowns. Usually has a more intimidating, thoughtful look on his face. He looks a little feminine, with softer features, fuller lips a slim nose. Almond shaped, narrower eyes that are a bluish, icy tone. Appear stormier and grey because of his mood. Around 5’11 with a leaner build and wider shoulders that tend to be a faintly hunched from his work. Faint muscle outline on his calves and arms.
Personality: Cyprus can be distant and reserved when first met, even passing off as shy. A calming force. Tries to be as polite as he can be. Can be sarcastic and blunt at times and with specific people. People think that he is intimidating, though he tends to be a gentle person. Someone who tends to listen to their thoughts a lot. Soft spoken. He tries to be peaceful with most, though isn’t afraid to put someone back into their place. Eternally tired. Doesn’t take great care of himself. Can lose his patience quickly. More gentle then he let’s on and is very protective of the ones he cares about.
Flaws: He can push people away because of how withdrawn he seems to be. Can let people walk all over him and won’t say a thing.
Likes: Philosophy and poetry. Small forest and olive groves. Herbs. Writing in notebooks. The sound of marble being chiseled. Artwork. Music. The plays that people sometimes put on in the main square. (He won’t admit it, though he would love to be in a play someday) Shells. The faint rain that falls on rare days. Stories.
Dislikes: Very loud people. Upper class men who think that they are entitled to everything. People that don’t listen. Storms. Insults to people who are different.
Other: He was named after a Greek island, and the Cypress tree.

Ah, for some reason I forgot what POC means. I tend to forget everything these days lol

But if you mean that this is my new character, then yes. I deleted the other form for Cyprus.
