Kace moved his legs out and sighed deeply. Sleep sounded wonderful. Then he realized he was extremely hungry.
“Er… I’m rather hungry.”
Kace moved his legs out and sighed deeply. Sleep sounded wonderful. Then he realized he was extremely hungry.
“Er… I’m rather hungry.”
Lucian nodded his head at Kace’s words. “Alright. We have things like soup and such, I believe. Any preference?” He asked, nudging his black framed glasses up again.
Alex chewed on his lip. “Okay. Is there anything else I could have? Like… spaghetti?”
(Wrong name lol)
“Possibly. I’m not too sure, but I can ask, and if they have it, I’ll have them send it in,” Lucian said before stepping towards the door. “If you need anything else, there’s a button by the bed, and myself or a nurse will come to check on you.”
(Darrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiitttttt)
Kace looked down at the big red button on a remote, chilling out next to his shoulder.
“Er…. okay. Thank you, sir…”
Lucian nodded before stepping out of the room. He walked over to the nurses station, where the red head was waiting. “You wanted to talk, Anna?” He asked, leaning against the counter.
“The station called again. They want something out of the patient in there,” Anna responded, looking up from a clipboard she had been reading from.
“Right, right. I’ll call them back at some point today. Now that he is conscious, I can try to get him to talk about what happen. The guy is all bugged out, paranoid and all that sort of thing. We’ll get something out of him eventually,” he huffed. “Also, Anna?”
“Hm?” She hummed, raising her brows.
“Get someone to check if we have pasta or spaghetti, that’s what the patient wanted.”
Kace relaxed slowly into the bed. His rumbling tummy kept him up, and his dry tongue scratched his equally dry roof. He sighed and looked at the IV drip. The IV in his arm looked intimidating. He didn't want them to take it out, but he had experience with needles. They needed to change the IV everyday so he didn’t get an infection.
After a few minutes, the same nurse brought in a plate. “The doctor said that you wahted spaghetti. That’s an.. interesting choice,” Anna commented with a soft bit if laughter. She set the plate on a tray before bringing it over to Kace.
Kace glanced over timidly when she brought in the food. He didn’t laugh with her, nor did he say anything. Kace took the food with a faint ‘thanks’ and picked up a fork. He waited, though, glancing up at the nurse, as if asking for permission to eat.
Anna arched a brow at the look Kace gave her. “You can eat that,” she said. She checked the clipboard that Lucian had been writing on before, giving a hum before stepping out of the room. She walked back to the nurses station, where Lucian was chatting with a receptionist. “Your new patient is definitely a piece of work,” she huffed.
Lucian glanced over at Anna with an arched brow. “You think? He’s probably just disoriented, is all,” he said.
Kace didn’t start eating until the nurse had left. He started slowly, then quickened. Soon the plate was empty. He was still hungry. He frowned a little and set the plate down with a sigh, relaxing into the bed. He didn’t call anyone; he didn’t want to be a burden. He’d just go half-full.
After a few minutes of chatting, Anna had walked away to go check on another patient. Lucian huffed softly, and went into a nearby small office. He sat down in his desk chair and stretched out a bit, sighing softly.
Kace hugged himself. The room was chilly and dark. He didn’t want to rise and turn on the lights, nor did he want to pull up the sheets. He just wanted to stare avidly at the wall, feeling his body work, but not feeling part of his body. Just feeling empty and soulless.
Lucian leaned back in his desk chair, srtetching his legs out. He picked up a file- Kace’s file- and wrote Kace’s name down in it. He would have to fill out more when the patient told him other things.
Kace inhaled a little and felt his body shudder. It always did that. Made him loose a good breath or sometimes would just knock the breath out of him. He sighed slowly and half-closed his eyes.
Lucian decieded that he wouldn’t bother the patient now. Maybe he would wait until that night to check in, if a nurse called him in, or if Kace would press the call button. He was exhausted, and just wanted to rest his head down for a nap, though he knew he couldn’t slack off like that.
Kace coughed loudly, it bursting out of his chest, as well as a few spots of blood. They landed bright on the sheets and he gasped. They’d most definitely stain. He hastily flipped over the sheets, hoping when someone checked in on him, they wouldn’t notice. But his problems weren’t over yet. He kept coughing and heaving up little bright spots of blood, though he was smart enough to cover his mouth with his hand.
(Bump)
Lucian sat back up again before getting up and out of his chair. He picked up the file, and decided he would go talk to the patient again. He left his office, making his way down the hallway to the patients room, and eventually stepped inside.
Kace barely heard the doorknob turn in time to stop coughing. He settled for the tiny coughs in his chest as he held them back and glanced up at Lucian expectantly. His coughing certainly didn’t bring someone along this fast?
Lucian stepped into the room, holding the file in hand. He looked at the patient and raised his brows. “How was your food, Kace?” He asked the other. It seemed to him like Kace ha dalmost completely cleeaned the place. He would send someone in later to get that cleaned up.
Kace nodded frankly in response, hoping all of the questions were yes and no questions. Though the question asked wasn’t much of a yes question. He leaned back a bit and restrained another cough.
Lucian took that as Kace saying that the food was alright. “I’ll send a nurse in here once I’m done to get the things out of your way,” he said.
Kace coughed a stifled cough again and nodded fiercely. He hopped these noddings would tell the doctor he was quite alright for the night.
“Do you feel like answering a few more questions for me?” Lucian asked, pulling up a chair and taking a seat. The sooner you do answer, the sooner you can get out of here.” Probably a lie.
Kace let out a staggered sigh. “I-I guess so.” He coughed freely into his hand and rubbed it discretely on his side. He really hoped no one noticed the coughing. He probably wouldn’t be able to afford any more treatments.
Lucian arched a brow about the coughing, but decided not to mention is yet. “Of course. So, do you know what your address is, Kace?” He asked, clicking the pen open.
Kace looked down into his lap. “I don’t have one. I can’t afford a home to live in.” He couldn’t help feeling shame, though no one else ever did. After all, he had landed himself here. Though he could blame his parents if he wanted to. But he couldn’t, from the goodness of his heart.
Lucian frowned softly at that. “So, you’re homeless? You don’t go to a shelter? I’m sure there is one nearby,” he said slowly.
Kace shook his head. “No. I don’t want them to waste their time with me.” He coughed softly into his hands again, ready for the next question.
