"Then we need to get back. I can try and carry you." Afriel tried to think of ways where she could fly long term with out any breaks.
"Then we need to get back. I can try and carry you." Afriel tried to think of ways where she could fly long term with out any breaks.
Zackary nodded. He wasn’t aware of her predicament, but what were the chances of him being able to help?
"Do you want to go now?" Afriels voice was soft but one could tell that her mind was still racing from the small hint of panic.
Zackary squeezed her. “Yes. Please. Get me out of here.”
"Right. Okay." Afriel stood pulling Zackary up with her. She adjusted her hold on him so she wouldn't drop him and took off into the sky.
Zackary clung onto her, not offering any help. It seemed he had lost weight, though, so he was easier to carry.
(I'm going to assume the towns are at least five hours apart.)
Almost every hour or so Afriel stopped for a break. On the last brake she felt as if her wings where going to fall off. On the way up she'd only had to stop twice, but then again she wasn't in a rush the first time. "I'm pretty sure Edens going to murder us both." She joked.
(So are they back, now?)
(Yes. Sorry I should have made that more clear.)
(Okay, that’s alright. ^~^)
Zackary let her go and let out a faint sigh. “She really will. She’ll slaughter us and bake us into a pie.”
"Sadly, I don't think your wrong." Afriel sighed and peeked inside. "Eden, so um. Guess who I found."
Zackary shuffled into a shadow, his wings shivering gently behind him. He didn’t want Afriel to get slaughtered, but hey, what did he have to loose?
Eden whipped her head up from what she was doing at the sound of Afriel, but her eyes soon narrowed and found their way to Zackary. "So you decided to come back I see? Do you know the kind of pain you put her through?"
Zackary’s wings fluttered meekly behind him and he dipped his head. He gave a tiny nod, deciding not to speak out.
Eden opened her mouth to speak more but Afriel cut her off, "he um, his wings. Its not his fault. Well not really at least. He couldn't fly." She softened her eyes hoping Eden would understand. "And we um already fought so I don't think another fight is in order."
Zackary swallowed, keeping his head hung low and his gaze half-closed. His wings wrapped around his legs reassuringly. He sighed at them softly. He wished they could reach up higher.
Afriel looked over at Zackary simpathticly. "Lets get you up stairs."
Zackary glanced up and nodded. “Okay. Lead the way. I’ll follow.”
Afriel made her way up to their room and hesitantly opened the door. Little had been changed, in fact it looked as if nothing at all had moved since Zackary left. Other then the fact that everything looked a little duster that is.
Zackary looked around. “Have you been sleeping here at all?” His voice was quiet compared to the spacious room.
"No." She admitted sheepishly. In fact she'd barely entered the room, only every now and again for clothes.
“You haven’t been spending money at a hotel, have you?” Zackary gave her a concerned look. They needed that money. In case they wanted to move out.
"I um, yeah." Afriel looked down at her feet feeling embarrassed. "I couldn't stay here. It didn't feel right."
Zackary chewed on his lip. “But… we need that money! Not that I’m mad… you probably just spent a lot.”
"Sorry." Was all she could mange to say. Afriel didn't think of that, all she could think about was keeping her mind busy and staying away from places that held memories.
Zackary sighed. “I’ll start undusting stuff. I might as well do something…”
"No, you need rest." Afriel looked up at him, a hint of worry in her eyes.
“I’m not sleeping in a dusty bed.” Zackary lifted up the sheets gingerly and shook them out.
Afriel nodded her head still feeling a bit embarrassed. "Don't worry about everything else, I'll get that after work."
Zackary laid the sheets down and curled up into the bed immediately. “It’s fine. I got it.”
