Raiden leaned against the side of a Starbucks, the usual. Sipping his honeyed tea, his head bopped along to a silent rhythm, pretending to be listening to music. Once again, the usual. Pretending to be in, overseen, another one of the crowd. But he was noting and aware of everything around, the mannerisms and ways of the people, how they talked, their schedules, their moods. Scanning around, his eyes focused in on a girl, her eyes puffy and red, lips quivering, frail form shaking. She seemed drained of energy until her head snapped toward a door in a sudden, unexpected movement. Hope fell into the girls chocolate eyes, and he observed as she steadily opened the door. Standing up, he glanced around before following her, curiosity getting the best of him. He wasn't creepy… it was just… his usual.
(damn)
(I love your post @Potatoes-and-Forks )
(Aww, thanks)
(It’s such a cool starter for your character, way to be creative!)
(I sound like an over-enthusiastic primary school teacher lmao)
(Lol, but thank you…)
By now, Cam had made his way over to the cafe and started steeping some tea. "Hey, Tia can I get the music playing?" He calls out from behind the counter of the cafe, holding up his phone.
"Absolutely." Tia said, making her way to the back room to stock the coffee maker.
"Yeah!" Cam cheered, making his way to the small music control panel and hooking up his phone. He pressed a button and P!aTD started playing. "This good?
"Absolutely." Tia called from the back room.
"Awesome!" Cam said, walking back to the cafe to grab his tea.
"DID I HEAR A PANIC! SONG?" Ocean barges in, with no purpose at all.
Gently nudging the door open, Raiden took in a sign asking for volunteers. Narrowing his eyes, his feet cautiously dared into the shop. There were several people already huddled around, including the girl he'd previously seen.
"Hello!" Cam said from behind the cafe bar, he was currently hidden but popped up as soon as new people entered.
Startled, Raiden marveled at the jolting movement. Quickly regaining composure, he embarrassedly gave a half-wave, half-nod type thing. "Hey…" he coughed. "You are..?"
“Ocean… S-sorry for the yelling…. I cant help it..” He gives a shy smile and waves to the people.
"I'm Cam! I work at this lovely place!" He called out, walking towards them from behind the counter.
Jeanne heard people entering and shrank further behind the book shelves, rubbing at her puffy eyes. Trying to distract herself, she searched for books, and her eye fell upon Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. She slid it off the shelf immediately.
Politely nodding in Cam's direction, Raiden gripped onto his cup of tea. Slightly fidgeting, he couldn't help but notice the cosy aura the tiny bookstore gave off.
Darcy rubbed their eyes sleepily and ran a hand through their short, curly hair, which was currently bright blue. It wasn't like it was incredibly early in the morning but they had stayed up all night reading. Darcy's go to bookstore wasn't open at the moment, so they went into the first one they could find. They opened the door to one called This Is A Bookstore and saw a few people standing around.
Cam waved, one hand holding a mug of tea. "Ello!" She exclaimed. "Welcome!" She made her way to the bookstore counter.
"Hey," Darcy said, walking up to the counter. "Do you guys have a classics section?" They breathed in and smelled coffee. Was this a coffee shop too?
"Yup! We have a cafe in the corner if you're hungry or thirsty!" She said as she made her way to the new person. "I'm Cameron, I work here." She said, leading them to the classics aisle.
"Did i hear classics?" He tilted his head.
"Yeah I just finished one and now I'm looking for another," Darcy said to the boy. They gave a tired smile to Cameron. "Hi. I'm Darcy. Do you happen to have coffee at your cafe?"
"Of course!" She said, pointing to the pretty large cafe and sitting area for reading and eating.
"Wait, have you read "To kill a mocking bird"?" Ocean smiled.
Darcy smiled at Cameron in thanks and turned to the boy. "I haven't, actually. I haven't read a lot of classics, which is why I'm doing it now." They pushed up their glasses and blinked sleepily.
Jeanne grabbed her books and made her way to the counter, wanting to socialize but not knowing how. “Could I have these for now?” She began to rummage around in her purse for money, coming up with a few bills.
"Sure! I'm not sure how much it is so I have to get Tia." Cam said, walking over to the door of the staff room and yelling. "TIA GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE! I NEED HELP!"
