You don't have to apologise. It wasn't your fault… it was mine…
Even as he thought it, the words became quieter to the last three words that ate at him all the time. His fault. It was his fault his brother was dead.
You don't have to apologise. It wasn't your fault… it was mine…
Even as he thought it, the words became quieter to the last three words that ate at him all the time. His fault. It was his fault his brother was dead.
Kasey's eyes snapped open.
"How could it have been your fault?" she questioned him.
If I'd been more of a careful driver I could have avoided the rock… He admitted.
"From what I saw, that wasn't your fault. You jumped at the clap of thunder, not something you can control," Kasey said softly.
I still could have tried and I didn't… He replied, The last connection I had with my family is gone. I promised I'd protect him, to care for him a-and he's gone… they all are…
"I know how that feels," Kasey murmured with a quick glance to the door. "My parents are gone, and Harper wasn't around for the longest time after I turned eighteen."
Liam nodded.
Harper is a good brother to you, even if he wasn't there for a while he is now… I wish I could've been there for Colby…
"Yeah, he is…" Kasey trailed off with a sigh. "How old was he, if I may ask."
Seven… he was seven… Liam replied.
Kasey bit her lip and nodded. If there's anything I can do to help you, let me know…
Liam nodded and wiped away a tear that fell.
Y-Yeah… I will…
Kasey brushed her thumb gently across his cheek, wiping away any other tear.
"Do you want me to have Harper go get your medication?" she asked softly.
Liam sighed and rubbed at his face.
Yes, yes please. There’s two bottles I-I need. Ones got a blue lid and the other orange. If that’s alright with Harper?
Kasey relayed the instructions to Harper, who agreed that he would go get them.
"It's fine with him. Do you have keys he can borrow?" she asked.
I think the doors open but that’s a key on the top of the door frame… Liam said as he laid down on the bed.
"Okay, he's going to get them, now," Kasey said with a sigh.
Liam nodded, Thank-you…
He knew he was going to have to explain the bottle with the blue lid as they were anti-depressants instead of meds for the nerve damage as the other bottle was but he needed them both.
Kasey relaxed beside Liam and turned do she was facing him.
"How are you?" she asked softly.
Fine I guess… he replied
(Gtg to bed, seeya later)
(Ah, see ya.)
"Okay. If you're sure," Kasey whispered, pressing another kiss to his cheek. "Love you."
Love you too… Liam replied, resting his head on Kasey softly.
Harper knocked on the door of Kasey's bedroom, holding both bottles of medication.
"Hey, I got the meds for Liam," he called.
Liam gave him a grateful smile and crawled towards him from the bed and gladly took the bottles from him. He sighed down at them with a frown.
"I'll just be in the living room if you guys need anything," Harper said as he stepped back out.
"Thanks, Harper," Kasey said softly. She leaned back on the bed and looked over at Liam. "Two bottles?"
Liam swallowed.
Y-Yeah… you see the um… th-the thing is that I… He sighed, Ones for the nerve damage and the other is… is antidepressants…
"You… take antidepressants. So you're depressed… Is it because of your brother?" Kasey asked gently, her gaze softening. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."
A multitude of things… parents, brother, stress… abuse in early life… The voice in his head cracked at the last part as he dry swallowed the pills he needed.
Kasey sighed and closed her eyes.
"If you ever need to talk about it, I'm here, okay?" she offered. "Just let me know if there's anything I can do to help you…"
Liam nodded and gave her a small smile and a kiss on the cheek.
I know… right now all I need you to do right now is be there for me… even if my moods swing…
"I can do that for you," Kasey whispered with a smile. "Did you want to go back to sleep?"
