Vinney sighed, and stared up at the building. This was it- she was finally here. Getting out of her car, she pulled her backpack over her shoulders and grabbed her suitcase out of the back. Dragging it behind her, she couldn’t help feeling nervous and excited for what lied ahead. She was finally here at university, here to make a life for herself. That wasn’t the biggest part though. As she walked inside the building and got on the elevator, her mind wandered to who her dorm mate might be. Shaking slightly with anxiousness, she walked off onto the fifth floor and down the hallway. “392, 394, 396!!” She whispered. She paused for a few seconds, wondering who she would find on the other side of the door. After a few more minutes, she dug out her keys, unlocked the door, and walked inside.

Axl walked in and began to unpack his things. He sighed, worry etching itself into his features. Are they going to be okay? No matter how much he told them he'd be fine with staying, his mother still proceeded to (lovingly) push him out the door. He sighed as he set and organized everything. Music was playing through his earbuds, one in his ear the other drooping. Today, it was a mix between classic 80's rock and early 200's punk. An odd combination, but still one of his favorites. He mouthed along as he eperated everything. That is, until the door opened. He looked over to see his apparent roomate. Luckily, he's been turned the other way before, so he kept a stone image. "Sup." He continued with unpacking, careful not to make eye contact.

Vinney stopped cold in her tracks. Her roommate.. It was a guy.. Not that there was anything wrong with that, just, in all her fantasies, she imagined her roommate being a girl and eventually becoming best friends, or something cheesy like that. No matter though.. That same kind of thing could happen with a male, right? Closing the door behind her, she awkwardly shuffled in and quietly muttered, “Uh, hi… I’m your roommate I guess… I- uh, yeah.” She cut off. She was about to introduce herself, but decided she’d let him talk first, as not to make herself seem full of herself.

(Nah, it's fine, I was at school when I sent it. And I fell asleep as well, no worries!!)
He nodded a little, pursing his lips. "Cool." He kept his mouth shut. It's so odd that it's a girl… He never really considered it to be a girl. Is it going to be like this the entire time? He didn't plan on making friends- that wasn't his sort of thing. (Sorry it's short, I'm at an activity)

“Ack- yeah….” She very awkwardly whispered before walking over to the bed that didn’t seem to be taken by him. Sitting down, she looked at her hands for a few seconds, trying to think of something to say. Finally, she tried breaking the ice by saying, “So.. What’s your name?”

((Don’t worry Fam- I’m busy tonight too. I have a band concert later lol))

He didn't bother to look up from organizing, not wanting to meet her eyes. "Axl." He didn't ever nother asking her name. (I don't have a concert, but i have so much to do cough cough homework, but hey! Procrastination!!)

Axl. That was a cool name- much more interesting than her own. Even though he didn’t ask for it, she replied, “That’s really cool.. My name’s Vanessa, but I go by Vinney.” She couldn’t help the sinking feeling that this would become the norm. Being cold shouldered And ignored. There went all her fantasies.

He nodded once again, lips pursed. He kept his eyes to his organizing. This there, that there… His music still played in one ear, which he was mentally singing along to- and then he finished a lot quicker than expected. What exactly am I supposed to do now?… For a moment, he stood there, just fiddling with everything that was already organized.

Vinney turned away from him, feeling awkward and weird. She reached into her bag and pulled out her phone and earbuds, along with her book. Plugging in her earbuds, she loudly turned up the music and started to read. If her roommate was going to ignore her, then she was going to ignore him right back. Although, she couldn’t help curiously glancing at him every few minutes. The more she glanced at him, the more she realized “damn.. he’s kinda cute..”.

He heard her music through his other ear and placed his other earbud in, blocking out the noise. (I don't know how college works soooo djlasklfd;j) He felt his stomach growl a little, distracting him from the awkwardness. He sighed and walked over the the mini-fridge in which he had placed snacks in earlier. Grabbing a few grapes, he quickly glanced at her. She'll be different~ A voice sang in his head. No. This wasn't the time for this. All he was here for was to get an education to help his family. That's it.

After a little while longer of reading, she heard her phone buzz. She picked it up and checked the text. It was from her best friend, Destiny. “Hey, where the heck are you!? I’m waiting outside!” That’s it! She forgot- to celebrate her last night of freedom before her classes started tomorrow, Destiny and Vinney were going to go out to eat. She quickly typed back, “Shoot- I forgot, I’ll be down in a minute.” She looked up and saw Axl. Even though they had an awkward meeting, maybe bringing him with them would make him open up? Besides, she’d hate to be rude by just leaving. She added to her text, “My new roommate might come, is that okay?” “Yeah, sure,” was her friends response. Tanking out her earbuds, Vinney spoke up and asked, “Hey, Axl.. My friend and I are going out to eat, you wanna come with us?”

He heard something faint in the background. He turned around. She seemed to be…talking to him. He took out one of his earbuds, lessening the effect of the music. "Huh?" He had been sitting on his phone, just scrolling through all of the pictures he had taken the night before from stargazing. He had been out almost all night trying to calm down. He was so worried about leaving them.

“Oh, sorry, but uh,” she nervously rubbed the back of her neck. “Well, my friend and I are going out to eat, and I know we just met, but I was wondering if you maybe wanted to come with us?” She looked up and met his eyes, noticing she had been glancing anywhere but there before.

He paused for a moment. What? His choices: wait around the dorm, extremely bored without the courage to roam around campus. Or, he could go with a random stranger to meet another random stranger to go get food from another random stranger. He looked away from her eyes once again. "No." HIs voice was firm and edgy. He turned around, hoping to make his point. His stomach growled loudly. Shut up!

Vinney sighed a little bit. She wasn’t sure why, but part of her was hoping he would come. Hearing his stomach growl, she quietly added, “Are you sure?” She slipped off the bed and scrambled around for her bag. Hearing her phone buzz yet again, she inched her way towards the door, waiting for probably rejection before leaving.

Axl thought for a moment. What could happen? He turned around, about to accept. Education. "I think I'm good." He walked over to his bed, picking up a few things and moving them.

((I’m really really sorry for the late response, but my grandma died just recently and I’ve been in a really rough place. I’m getting better and back into my normal routine, so I’ll be responding more often now ^^))

“Oh, alright then.” She couldn’t help the sound of disappointment that laced her voice. “Well, uh, have fun while I’m gone… I’ll try to be back early..” She rambled. Her phone violently buzzed, and she finally muttered, “Okay, bye..” Before opening the door and making her way to the elevator.

(oh gosh! Hey, don't worry! I completely understand! Don't push yourself if you're not ready! And I know that I'm hear a stranger online but like, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here ;)
His heart dropped a little as she left, stomach growling louder now. What did you just do? You're going to starve! He laughed at himself. That sucks, oh well. He continued to move things around, hoping to distract himself.

The elevator opened on the ground floor, and Vinney raced out the doors and into the parking lot, instantly finding Destinys purple car. Jumping into the passengers seat, she panted, “Sorry I’m late!” Her friend smiled and replied, “Don’t worry about it. So no roommate?” “Yeah, he didn’t want to come.” Destiny raised her eyebrows and smirked and her, “So its a He… Interesting..” “Oh shut up,” she rolled her eyes.
