Liam gave Kasey an understanding smile, “I know, I understand why you don’t want to trust me. You don’t have to if you really don’t want to but… I’d understand if you don’t.”
Liam gave Kasey an understanding smile, “I know, I understand why you don’t want to trust me. You don’t have to if you really don’t want to but… I’d understand if you don’t.”
"But I do want to trust you, that's the problem. I want to trust you, but it's hard… I think I just need some time to realize that I can trust you," Kasey said, her voice growing softer with every word.
Liam nodded, "That's fine, I respect that. Take as long as you need to figure it out." He did feel slightly upset, but pushed that away and replaced it with understanding for Kasey and her position.
"I still love you…" Kasey whispered, avoiding Liam's eyes.
"I love you, too," Liam smiled but stood up, "I'll leave you to rest, I'll be across the hall if you need me."
Kasey's gaze flicked back to Liam.
"All right…" she sighed. "Come visit me tomorrow?"
Liam nodded, "I will, you can count on it. Rest, Kasey. See you tomorrow."
He gave her one last smile before walking out the door and shutting it softly behind him.
Kasey smiled at Liam until the door was shut, and then she covered her face with a pillow and sobbed into it. After a while, she fell asleep, and Quake joined her soon after she stopped crying.
Liam rubbed his face as he walked out of Kasey's apartment and sighed. He tried to keep himself together as he returned to his own place and fed Mortem quickly before heading to sleep.
It seemed as though Kasey couldn't get a break from her nightmares. Every night she had had them, at least since she'd gotten Liam back.
Early the next morning, she shot up, panting for air. Matt had almost killed her, while Liam just stood by and took notes. Kasey trembled at the memory.
Liam spelt most of the morning, he woke up sweating and with a high temperature. He groaned and sighed, he never got sick. He wobbly walked to the kitchen to take some tablets and the pills his doctor had prescribed him. Liam very nearly collapsed in the kitchen but made it to the couch before passing out under a pile of blankets.
Kasey looked down at her leg and sighed. It was probably best to move it as little as possible, but she was hungry…
HARPER, WAKE UP!
She felt her brother's mind stir and practically groan.
What do you want, Kasey?
I'm hungry but can't get out of bed…
Why not?
Were you not watching me yesterday?
Yeah, but what does that– Oh. Never mind. What do you want to eat?
Just cereal is fine.
All right, Kasey could hear the sigh in his thoughts. Give me a minute.
Thanks.
Liam woke up a few minuets later to Mortem kneading his back before lying down on him. Liam sighed and grabbed his phone to text Kasey.
LIAM: Morning, Kasey. I'd ask what time you'd want me to come over but I've come down with a fever and Mortem is currently lying on my back. I don't think I'll be able to come over. If I can, I'll let you know.
Kasey paused what she was doing and reached over to her nightstand to grab her phone. Seeing the message from Liam, she frowned.
KASEY: You can still come over if you want. Harper can be our slave for the day.
Liam cracked a small smile.
LIAM: I don't want to infect you, though. Honestly I don't think I can make it the few steps to your place.
KASEY: What if I get Harper to carry you? Lol.
She giggled as she sent the text, then finished her food.
Liam rolled his eyes but smiled.
LIAM: Maybe I can walk over, I don't think Harper would even want to carry me.
Kasey grinned and set her bowl back down on her nightstand again.
KASEY: True, true… Anyway, you don't have to come over if you're not up to it. Or if you don't want to.
LIAM: I do want to come over and see you, now it's just the matter of getting my stupid cat off by back.
Liam took a photo of his current situation to go along with his text.
Kasey laughed at the picture, then grinned when she saw Quake trot into her room. The kitten jumped up into her bed and settled on her lap. Thinking it a great opportunity for a cute picture, Kasey took a selfie with the calico.
KASEY: Lol. Look who just joined me.
LIAM: Cuties, that's going as my new phone background. Hehe
Liam smiled and took a screenshot of the photo and set it as his background, Mortem stirred a little and hit him over the head and Liam stopped moving.
LIAM: My stuipd cat just hit me!
KASEY: Wait, what?!? But that's a terrible picture of me!
Serves you right for bothering him. Lol.
She chuckled as Quake kneaded her stomach, her tiny paws not putting much pressure on her.
LIAM: Nah, it's cute. And I didn't do anything but move a little! Stop taking his side.
Liam sighed and laughed a little, Mortem purring away happily.
Kasey sighed and shook her head, reaching up to run a hand through her hair.
KASEY: My hair is a mess, and I look like I just woke up… Probably because I basically did.
And, hey, if you sit up Mortem can't lay on you.
LIAM: But I don't wanna moooooove.
Liam rested his head on the couch and groaned a little.
KASEY: Well, then don't. I'd shrug if you could see me…
LIAM: Aha, so, if I can move, I'll be over in an hour or so? If that's fine by you?
Kasey grinned as she pet Quake.
KASEY: Sounds great! I might take a nap until then, for lack of things to do. :P
LIAM: Aha, alrighty, I'll go shower a be over soon, see you then x
Liam sighed and gently moved Mortem off his back who didn't seem very happy with him before going to shower.
KASEY: See you in a bit!
With a sigh, she set her phone down on her nightstand and closed her eyes. She fell asleep with her hand on Quake's back a few minutes later, exhausted from the wound sapping all her energy.
