"We're all gonna be broke." Kamè grinned, "I'm gonna be a movie star! So, like my mom always says, I'm probably gonna be broke and live in a dumpster, because," he changed the pitch of his voice to match his mothers, "Dreams are trash, you're going to end up broke and living in a dumpster, why don't you become an accountant, like me?"

Vera laughed, purposely avoiding Bridge’s eye.

Loilai grabbed Vera's hand and started to talk, while Kendra butted in a few times to explain it thoroughly.
"SO! We're having a surprise party and like, we're gonna hide and all that glitz and then we're gonna party!"
Kendra shook her head, "We're setting up decorations first, it's going to be at a pool we rented and Auden and Ault are going to come in after an hour. Bridge's in charge of the microphone and the rest of us are doing stuff."
"And then we're gonna party!"
"Remember to hide where they can't see you."

Vera nodded, grinning in anticipation. “Sounds like a plan!”

Kendra reached over to press a kiss on Loilai's cheek, "Calm down."

Felix smiled at Vera, "Yeah, it's a plan for sure."

Vera leaned back in the seat, glancing at Tay.

Tay kept his eyes on the road, deciding to be focused and not turn around like his dad did when he got angry. Those were scary times. When Tay'd done something wrong. But he loved his parents, he really did.

Vera glanced at Felix. “So, What kind of music do you like?”

Felix smiled, "Indie music." he started to sing, "Lady, running down to the riptide, taken away to the dark side, I wanna be your left hand man, I love you when you're singing that song and, I got a lump in my throat 'cause, you're gonna sing the words wrong. Riptide, by Vance Joy. What about you?

“I like Whitney Houston, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson’, and Van Halen the best. You’re a good singer, by the way.”

He blushed, "Thanks. So was Marya."

“What was she like?”, Vera asked softly.

"She was chaos. Beautiful chaos. Like the eye of a storm." Felix closed his eyes, "She wasn't the most beautiful person, but she didn't care. Y'know, I never really saw the beauty in brown eyes until I met her."

Vera let him talk, glad that he seemed a bit happier, thinking: Is this what real love looks like?

"But she was too hard to catch and when I'd finally got her, I let go." Felix opened his eyes and looked at Vera, "Sorry for boring you."

“No! You’re not boring me at all.”, Bera said quickly, meaning it. “I get it, don’t worry.”

"Yeah, thanks." Felix leaned back in the seat, pulling at his seat belt.
