Alto stirred awake and was at peace for a minute before remembering what happened. “No no no no…” He muttered, the thought crushing him with grief.
Halo was already up, working quietly. He sighs softly and looks around. He called his work and their school explaining that they would not be there. He walks up to Alto's room and knocks gently.
“No no no no..” He continued muttering, squeezing his eyes shut in hope that everything would just disappear.
Halo slowly enters, and hurries to his brothers side, pulling him into his chest. Halo hated seeing his brother in pain.
Alto didn’t melt into his brothers embrace as he usually did. He kept himself hidden, as if a wall had formed between the two. He doesn’t get it..
Halo noticed how cut off he seemed. He just sits there though, holding his twin. "I… I'm so sorry, Alto… But… I'm here for you. Okay?" He mutters, just holding Alto.
“It’s not like you can help..” Alto muttered, not meeting his eyes.
Halo felt a small pang of hurt and guilt run through him. He goes quiet, just holding his brother.
“Just leave me alone, go to school. I’ll be fine…”
"I called in for both of us. I'm staying so I can take care of you." He mutters, holding his brother protectively.n
“I don’t need to be taken care of. I don’t need help with anything.” He muttered.
Halo doesn't say anything, just holds him, not willing to let go. Finally he whispers, "Let me at least stay by your side."
Alto got up suddenly and walked over to his closet. He threw some clothes on and just walked out of the room, not saying anything.
Halo looks up as he does so, hesitating as he watches his brother. He bows his head as he watches Alto leave.
Alto left the house, slamming the door behind him, not knowing where he was going to go.
Halo sighs, ready to break down. He had been hiding the truth from Alto for a time, but he was working, he was doing school, and he had been missing a lot of those days. And now, his brother was in grief and he couldn't do anything. He just wanted to curl up and cry.
Alto took out his phone and texted Halo, telling him to go to school. He kept walking and eventually found himself downtown, not a good place to be. There were still skid marks where the car swerved away from Stormy.
Halo ignored his phone, standing and walking to his bedroom. He shut his door and walked to his bed where he fell onto the matress, crying softly into his blankets.
Alto sat down on a bench and watched the people walk by, wondering what their life was like.
Halo cried until his tears were gone, sniffing and sobbing softly as he lay there, not wanting to move.
Alto texted Halo again.
please go to school. I’ll be fine.
No answer once again. Halo just sat in his bed, weak and tired.
Alto grew a little worried, knowing Halo had his phone on him.
I’m sorry..
Halo ignored his buzzing phone and curled up on his side. What was he supposed to do?
Halo answer me.
Alto felt a tear sliding down his cheek. This was his fault. His fault Halo was mad at him and his fault that Stormy was dead.
Halo turns his phone off completely, just wanting to disappear.
Alto brought his knees up to his chest and hid his face in them, tears falling faster now.
Halo falls into an uneasy sleep.
