@CassNotCas

I'm percussion. Marching band is my favorite, but I'm pretty good at concert percussion, aux., set, and sometimes play the bass line on a keyboard because there are 300 people in my school yet no one plays bass, guitar, or piano. I'm in the high school marching band and this past season the theme was Michael Jackson which was pretty awesome, and next year I overheard (eavesdropped on my band director) that we may do a rock theme next year, and maybe heavy metal because we have a lot of players who'd be very good at that sort of thing. I'm in an orchestra too.

@CassNotCas

Yeah, I hope we do some Metallica personally. MJ was really cool, though, because so many people knew the songs so at every parade we went to people would sing along and I kinda felt like a rock star haha. One of the bands from another football team we played did a movie theme and did theme songs from Pirates of the Caribbean and ones like that. It was really cool! The other snare drummer recorded it. My band isn't very competitive, mostly because a lot of us are in county/district/state/nation concert/orchestra/jazz/etc. bands so we know people in other bands. Are you in these types of bands?

We did Britney Spears and Imagine Dragons in our show two years ago. The theme was the nuclear fallout, and it was a terrible show.

@CassNotCas yeah, I'm in a few of those bands, but I'm an underclassman so a lot of those options are given by seniority rather than by talent at my school which I think can be kind of stupid but what am I gonna do about it? I'm in jazz, orchestra, district, brass choir, pep band, and show choir band so I guess that's pretty good for now XD

@RedEeveestar
A group of band kids (trumpet, tenor sax, alto sax, drum set) won the school talent show playing that song last year.

OOF
you right tho
We're not allowed to practice on the football field because it's grass, and apparently football players are the only people who have a need for that field.

Yeah, our practice field is also the practice field for the soccer teams. There's holes in the ground everywhere and our field in constantly needing to be repainted every 3 days. The football players threw a huge fit when one, only ONE of their 15 treadmills broke and the school practically handed them the money for a brand new one on a silver platter. But when we asked just ONE new tuba to replace the one that a freshman had dropped, we were told that we had to pay for it ourselves :(

Last year, every team in our school had beaten this one team, Eastside, who weren't as good as us in everything. At the homecoming bonfire, one of the kids from our band goes, "Oh yeah, and we've beat Eastside, too." The football hadn't beat Eastside, and threw a huge fit. It was bad, and we got yelled at for starting stuff.

True. I play softball and do marching band. I think sometimes that the administrators really don't don't care about female sports, or things that they don't consider. They sponsor the football team, and the basketball team, sometimes the baseball team, but they leave us in the dust…

@ElderGod-Winter-The-Renegade-Legionnaire book

Yeah, bout that we complained to the admin, and they didn't think we were serious, and then we went to state, and surprised everybody, and then if they didn't care about us then, (which they still didn't…) we could go complain to the senate. We did, and they gave us the money we needed for jerseys, and new equipment. I also convinced them to buy a contrabass clarinet as a little extra…
