"Definitely," Lilah agreed softly, her far-away tone suggesting she was barely paying attention.
"Definitely," Lilah agreed softly, her far-away tone suggesting she was barely paying attention.
Cameron nudged her gently. “Wake up, we’ll go sooner or later. For now, lake.”
Lilah blinked and shook her head, bringing herself back to the present.
"Yeah. Okay," she said, nodding.
Cameron chuckled gently and brushed some hair out of her face. They walked down a bushy path to the lakeside, where ducks, geese and swans were prooning.
Lilah turned to him slightly when he brushed her hair out of her face, giving him a soft look.
He smiled gently back at her, pulling his hand back. “You’re so pretty.”
"You keep saying that…" Lilah said quietly, blushing.
“Because I mean it.” Cameron smiled warmly.
"Hm… Well, you're handsome," Lilah said softly, giving him a small smile.
Cameron nudged her. “Thanks.” He sat down at the edge of the lake, on a ledge built to keep it from flooding over its banks.
Lilah sat next to him, looking over the water. She sighed. This whole thing felt like a dream, especially with the lake looking the way it did.
Cameron wrapped an arm around her, leaning his head on hers. “This is amazing… did you get our picnic?”
"Um… It's in the car…" Lilah whispered with a slight laugh.
Cameron clicked his tongue. “Ah well, we’ll get it later.”
"I could have it brought over to us if you wanted," Lilah suggested, leaning into his side.
Cameron shrugged. “If you’re hungry now, that’d be great.”
"I'm okay, but I'll text the driver to bring it to us if you are," Lilah offered.
“Nah, I’ll wait till you are,” Cameron said gently, relaxing into her.
"Are you sure?" Lilah asked, turning slightly so she could look at him. Doing so brought her face very close to his, and she blushed a bit and pulled back slightly.
Cameron gazed at her with his droopy, puppy eyes and nodded happily. “Yeah, I’m sure.” He didn’t move his head
Lilah's gaze slowly flitted over his face.
"Hm… If you're sure."
Cameron blinked gently, smiling avidly. “I sure am.”
"Okay," Lilah said softly, smiling at him.
Cameron relaxed his head back into hers, looking back out to the lake with a gentle sigh.
Lilah pressed a soft kiss to his cheek before laying her head on his shoulder. She smiled as she looked out over the sparkling, deep blue lake.
Cameron smiled, fighting the impulse to touch the spot. “So… where’d the dogs go?”
"Don't know," Lilah said with a shrug. "I'm sure they're around here somewhere, though. Lilac doesn't like to go very far from me."
Cameron hummed gently. “Alright.” He let the scene lapse into silence.
"I'm glad we can just hang out like this," Lilah said softly. "This is nice."
Cameron nodded. “We should take breaks like this, together, more often.”
