LIAM: You might be excited but I’m dead scared, I don’t think I’ve played for anyone before…
KASEY: You don't have to if you don't want to.
Hey, my next class starts soon, so I'll have to talk to you at lunch. Maybe I'll have time to come eat with you.
LIAM: Yeah, maybe. I don’t mind but don’t stress over me and I’ll play for you, I want to :)
Kasey smiled at her phone.
KASEY: Okay. I'll talk to you later, Liam. Lunch sound good?
LIAM: Yeah, lunch sounds good,
KASEY: All right. I'll be there around one, then.
She stuck her phone in her pocket, grabbed her things, and then headed to her next class.
Liam smiled down at his phone and placed it on the table on top of his music and began to play again, having a little more inspiration.
Kasey sighed as she walked to class. A few people smiled at her as she passed them in the hall, and she politely returned them.
A couple of hours and two classes later, she was finally free to go. She smiled to herself as she made her way to her car, then climbed inside and started toward the apartments.
Liam hummed his new song to himself as he repeated the chords to go along with them, smiling to himself. He knew Kasey would be here soon and was looking forward to seeing her.
When Kasey arrived, she parked her car and headed inside as quickly as she could. She took the stairs up to the level she and Liam were on, too impatient for the elevator. Reaching Liam's door, she smiled as she knocked.
Liam looked up from the guitar and to the door, smiling. Guitar in hand, he walked and opened the door, “Hey. School alright?”
Kasey shrugged, still smiling. "It was okay. I swear, though, I have so much information stuffed into my head now that if I get any more, my brain will probably explode."
Liam chuckled, "Ah, yeah. That's school for you." He said, holding the door open for Kasey.
Kasey stepped inside with a sigh.
"Yeah, it is… And I'm exhausted because I got up at five in the morning… And I kinda want to sleep," she said with a light laugh.
Liam shut the door behind her, "Take a nap then, I won't mind."
"No, it's okay. I'll be fine," Kasey assured him with a smile. "I want to hear you play, and then eat lunch."
"I could always play to help you sleep?" He shrugged, "Just a suggestion."
Kasey shook her head. "I mean, if you wanted to, sure, but I'll be cold all by myself," she said with a shrug.
"It's fine. I can just play for you normally then." He said, sitting down on the couch and flipping through his notes.
Kasey sat beside him, but not so close the he wouldn't have room.
"That sounds good."
Liam found the song he wanted smiled and brought the paper closer, "I uh.. wrote this the other day so it's fairly new. Sorry if I don't sound great…"
"I'm sure it'll be wonderful, Liam," Kasey assured him, gently setting her hand on his knee.
Liam took a breath before beginning,
"Oh dear, oh dear, I'm sorry
That you grew up so soon
A cold year and no high school parties
I've been drinking alone
Oh, I've been drinking alone
So, don't fear, don't fear their warnings
They're bitterer than most
Four years of driving across the country
For empty seats at their shows
And they've been drinking alone"
Kasey sat and listened in mesmerized silence. He was good, even if he didn't think so. She would listen to him all day if she could.
"So, keep your time, keep your mind, keep humble
Start your life in the middle of the jungle
You
Young blood
Rub your eyes, be surprised, keep hungry
Stay alive, try to lose all of your money
You
Young blood
You
Young blood
Young blood"
(I'ma skip so it doesn't get to repetitive)
Eventually, Liam finished the song and rubbed his neck, a pink tint to his cheeks, "I-It wasn't very good but…"
"No, Liam… That was amazing," Kasey said softly with a grin. "You really wrote that yourself?"
Liam nodded and his face became redder, "Y-Yeah… I did." He said, biting his lip.
"It was really good. Truly, Liam," Kasey whispered, putting a gentle hand on his arm.
"Thank-you, Kasey." He said, giving her a smile.
"Of course," Kasey said, holding a yawn in.
