“I can’t-“ I can’t hear you. Blue glued his eyes to the floor as he stepped further into the room. He hoped Vash could answer for him, he just didn’t want to say it out loud.

"His um dad…" Vash said realising Blue didn't want them to know, "his dad beat him…" She said in a slighlt whisper.

No. Kate felt her chest seize up. I was right. She looked to Blue and saw that he didn't necessarily respond. She could tell something was off.

"What?" Concern was written all over his face. "A-Are you okay?" Ty sighed, realizing that was stupid. "Sorry, obviously not if your here, if you ever get bored though you can always come visit me." Ty had a feeling he was going to be here for a while.

Dr. Ford stepped in, “You’ll be sharing a room for the day, he needs to have his arm checked on,” She made an apologetic look at Blue, “I’ll leave you all, just send for a nurse if need be, I’ll just be working on paperwork.” She left, and Blue felt utterly hopeless because he still had no idea what anyone was saying. He took a few steps to his bed, on the other side of the room, and kept staring at the floor.

Vash wrote on her arm, 'The doctor said she'd be gone doing paper work. But to call a nurse if you need anything.' Tears brought to Vash's eyes again but she quickly wipped them away hoping no one saw.

"Ty, we'll need you to come with us for some tests." It was hard for him to move at all but he managed to sit up. "Alright." The nurse unattached him from everything and helped him stand. "Can you walk?" He could barely feel him, let alone walk, it he felt weak. "Uh, I can try." She slowly let go and immediately his left leg fell out from under him. Xavier reached out and grabbed him so that he didn't fall to the floor. "Let me help," He didn't once look at Kate, he didn't want her to see him in this weak state. "Alright follow me." Xavier wrapped Ty's arm around his shoulders and helped him walk.

Blue couldn’t just watch him walk out like that without saying any condolences, so he quickly said, “I-I hope you get better, Ty.” Gosh, he felt so selfish for not asking if the guy was okay, or how it happened, or anything, but… He just didn’t want to explain himself, explain how he lost one of his five senses. He silently thanked the gift of Vash still being able to communicate with him.

Kate almost had a heart attack when Ty nearly fell. She stood up, wanting desperately to go with him. The nurse looked back at him and shook her head, telling her to stay. She sunk into her chair and put her head in her hands. No no no. She then looked back up at Blue and the girl. She looked to the girl. "I don't think I know you…"

Ty stopped at the door and said 'Thank you, I hope you get better as well' in sign language hoping he understood sign language. Ty figured something must have been wrong if he never responded to anything he was saying. He flashed blue a smile before continuing out the door. The halls all looked the same, Xavier being right next to him made him feel much better. They cam to a darker room with an MRI machine in it. "Can you help him get on the table?" Xavier nodded and and set Ty on the table.
(I hate MRI's haha)

"Oh um…I'm Vash." She said holding her out out to the other girl, "the girl that rode the fairs wheel with him." She quickly added explaining how the met now could possible make things easier. "And you are?" She asked her voice squeaking out slightly.

"I'm Kate." She paused. "Kind of from the ferris wheel. I mean I was with Xavier, but now I'm with Ty and-" She cut herself off and placed her head back in her hands. "It's just one big stupid mess. Nice to meet you though."

"Its a bit worse than I thought." Xavier was pacing the floor and Rose stood next to the Doctor. "His father had this as well, and we couldn't find a donor, hopefully we do this time." Ty came out of the MRI and James explained everything to him. "Hm, I see." Xavier helped him stand and began to walk back to his room. "I'll be the one to tell Kate." Xavier frowned at Ty's tone, he sounded like death was already set in stone for him. He entered the room and smiled. "Hey, I'm back."

(I'll have you know I screamed.)
Kate lifted her head and smiled brightly, happy that he was back, as he walked in. "Hey, how'd it go?" For some reason, she didn't get the sense that anything was wrong, even when Ty's smile felt a little pushed.

(Screamed at what?)
"It was goo-" Xavier pushed Ty onto the bed. "Don't be stupid! It's not fine at all." Xavier's face was full of anger and sadness. He wondered how Ty could act like this when he was slowly dying. "Xavier, you're being over dramatic. "Oh, so should I tell her?" That's when Ty glared at Xavier. "No, I will." Xavier stomped over to the door. "Then tell her." He closed it softly behind him. Slowly Ty lifted his eyes to Kate's he was scared to tell her, especially since his dad died the same way.

Blue looked up, “Are you okay?” He hoped Ty would just reply with a head shake or nod. He winced a little as he shifted where he was sitting.

Does Blue know sign language? That doesn't matter right now. Ty smiled but shook his head no. "I have Congestive heart failure, it's where my heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should. My dad died of this." He wasn't sure how to explain it better. "Treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured." He looked back over at Kate, he didn't want this to happen, now Kate has more things to worry about.

Blue tried to read the guy’s lips, caught a few words that could have been ‘heart’ and ‘blood’. He made a small frown, and tried to find a phrase that could make an appropriate response to anything, “I- I’m sorry, Ty.” He chewed his lip. Maybe this guy had it worse, maybe it looked like Blue was weak by going to the hospital with bruises and ear injuries. He wanted to shrink where he was sitting.

Kate leaned back in her chair and stared at the ceiling, smile instantly fading. She couldn't think. She couldn't move. She couldn't breathe. She stared at the ceiling, eyes filling up with tears and somehow anger as everything inside of her slowly collapsed.

(I'd like to point out how this started as sweet, then turned into tragic and I'm crying.)

Vash held tight to Blues hand, maybe I should tell them… she thought before pushing it away, no Blue'd be mad… she wrote on her arm explaining what Ty said so Blue wouldn't be out of the loop.

Blue blinked once, then twice at his arm. At that moment, he felt so insignificant, so selfish for being terrified of never being to hear again. Because Ty’s life with hanging by a sliver, he could die. And all Blue did was get beat, something he was used to so it shouldn’t be a big deal, and he crying over himself. Ty looked okay, he looked strong and brave and he was facing so much worse than what Blue was.

"Hey, I'm sure I'll be fine." It was something he'll have to get used to and he won't be able to do too much. This is probably why he had a hard time working out or trying out for the football team. Stay strong. Memories of his dad flashed through his mind. "It will be fine." Ty mostly said that for himself. Rose had been talking to the Doctor and he told her some bad news, but she knew this was coming. All she could do now was prepare herself. "Hey let's talk about something else." He took Kate's hand and made little circles on the back of it with his thumb.

Kate looked at him. A tear fell down her face. She didn't want to lose Ty. She opened her mouth to speak, but her throat had closed up only allowing a short sob to escape her lips. She closed her eyes and just let him trace circles on her hand.

The smile he had on his face faded away with the tear that slipped down Kate's face. "Come here." He pulled her closer and lifted her up so she was laying next to him. "I'm right here, I'm fine." For now. He thought before pushing the thought from his mind. A nurse walked in and held her clipped board close to her chest. "I'm sorry but visiting hours are ending." He did want to let go of Kate, but it was going to be late soon and she had to go to school tomorrow and hopefully he'll be feeling better and can go as well.

Blue looked nervously at Vash, then the nurse. No, don’t leave don’t leave don’t leave- “Please,” He whispered, more to Vash than the nurse. If she left, he would be able to hear anything, wouldn’t know what was going on.

Vash looked at her watch noticing she'd already be late if she went home now. "Blue, I have to go…" She spoke as she wrote on her arm telling Blue what she said.

Kate held on for a moment, closing her eyes letting another tear fall. She quickly wiped it away and slowly stood up, hand still reaching for his. She followed Rose and Xavier out of the roomqfter they had said their goodbyes, looking back at him. "I love you." Her voice was shaky and she was bound to break if she stayed a second longer. It took every ounce of her not to run back to him.

Blue finally nodded in defeat, scooting back on the hospital bed and curling in on himself. Alone. “I love you, Vash,” He whispered, staring at his arm and just rereading the notes she had written to him throughout the day.

Ty felt his stomach drop as soon as everyone left. "I'll be closing the curtain now," Before Ty could protest, she had already closed it and was walking out the door. One more person walking and it was Dr. James. Pulling a chair next to Ty's bed he sat down. "Ty, I have some bad news." It was now he wished anyone was by his side, even Blue felt do far away from him. Blue was a familiar face and would make things a bit easier at least. "C-Can I see my friend at least?" He eyes weld up with tears, if he was going to hear bad news he would like someone to be there even if they can't hear. "Sure," James stood up and opened the curtain. "Better?" Ty nodded and clutched the sheets, his knuckles turning white. "Ty you only have,"
(Hows that for a cliffhanger! Mawhaha.)

Vash got up but left the pen for him. I can't go home…not with him like this. she knew her chances of coming back as she was now where slim if she went home. So she wouldn't. "Um…excuse me." She spoke to the nurse, "is there anyway I can stay…if not with him in the waiting room?" Her eyes hopeful. The nurse placed a hand on Vash's shoulder to usher her out of the room and spoke, "I believe so…but shouldn't you go home?" Vash shook her head, "I can't leave him." And with that she found her way to the waiting room and sat, waiting till she could go back and see Blue.
