“Alright, alright. There’s no need to fight about it. It’s good to worry but,” Liam smiled a little, “Pushing a kid off his bike might have been a slight overreaction.”
“Alright, alright. There’s no need to fight about it. It’s good to worry but,” Liam smiled a little, “Pushing a kid off his bike might have been a slight overreaction.”
"Hey, what can I say?" Harper laughed. "I've been taking care of her for as long as I can remember."
Kasey nodded, biting her lip. Of course he had, they hadn't had any choice…
Liam laughed slightly, “Of course, at least you had each other.”
He tried to keep his voice light hearted but a flicker of pain flashed across his face at the words.
Harper quickly realized what he'd said and frowned, then glanced at Kasey.
"Sorry," he murmured, shaking his head. "I– Sorry…"
"It's okay," she whispered. She gave him a small smile. "Just nit the best joke you've ever made."
Liam coughed, “Well um… let’s not bring the mood down, shall we? How about ordering some pizza? Unless you want me to leave now, Kasey?”
Kasey quickly looked to Liam. She shook her head, smiling a bit. "No, please stay. Pizza sounds like a great idea. Doesn't it, Harper?"
"Yeah, actually, it does. I'll order if you guys want to tell me what you want," Harper said, nodding in agreement.
"Just meat for me. Ohhh, and pineapple!" Kasey said, grinning.
"Got it. Liam?"
“No pineapple for me, meat lovers sounds good, though.” Liam said, rubbing his neck.
"Okay, so what about a large meat-lovers' pizza with half pineapple? Does that sound good?" Harper asked.
"Sounds great to me!" Kasey said, giving her brother a thumbs up.
“Sounds like a plan.” Liam said, smiling and putting his hands in his pockets.
"Perfect. I'll go call now, then." Harper stepped into the kitchen and pulled out his phone to order.
Kasey sighed softly as he left, then turned to face Liam. "So… What do you think of my brother?" she asked, giving him a slight smirk. "And feel free to be honest."
Liam smiled, “He’s nice, protective but nice.”
"He's a good brother. A bit overprotective, yes, but he means well," Kasey agreed with a smile. "Thanks for staying, by the way. It means a lot, after what just happened."
“Don’t worry about it, anytime you need me just call or come knocking.” Liam said with a warm smile.
"I might wnd up taking you up on that offer if Harper stays much longer," Kasey laughed a bit.
Harper stepped back into the living room. "Pizza should be here in about fifteen to thirty minutes," he said.
Liam nodded, “Alright, what do we do to pass the time then?” He asked, rocking back on his heels.
"We could watch a movie," Kasey suggested. "Or play a game."
Liam shrugged, "I don't mind what we do but a movie sounds cool. We could watch the Avengers or Lord of the rings or Sleepless In Seattle…"
Kasey smiled. "How about the Avengers? That's one of my favorite movies."
"Sounds good to me," Harper agreed.
"Which one? Well, which ones do you have?" Liam asked.
Kasey laughed and started toward her movies. "Which ones don't I have? Honestly, I think I own all of them except the Hulk. What if we start on The First Avenger?"
Liam chuckled, "Sure thing, I'm up for a movie marathon if that's what your thinking." He followed her and sat down on one of the couches.
Kasey smiled. "Oh, I didn't even think about that! Yes, let's do it!" she exclaimed as she put the movie in and sat down next to Liam.
Harper chuckled and shook his head in amusement, sitting down in a chair.
Liam laughed, "I'm glad I'm full of good ideas." He said, before casually slipping an arm around Kasey.
Kasey relaxed into Liam's side, smiling as she started the movie.
Harper looked over and smiled. He was glad she was happy, especially considering what she had found out earlier. Maybe this would soften the blow of it.
Liam let out a content sigh, placing a small kiss to her head before returning his attention to the movie.
(Aaaaand… Skip…)
Kasey jumped up as she heard the doorbell ring and exclaimed, "I'll get it!" She walked over to the door and opened it, then paid for the pizza and took the box. After grabbing some plates and making her way back over to the couch, she set the box down on the table.
"Pizza is served," she declared with a smile as she picked a plate up and put a piece of pizza on it.
“Great, thanks.” He replied taking a couple pieces of pizza for himself, “I don’t get how you can have pineapple on your pizza.” Liam said as he started on his first piece.
Kasey shrugged. "I dunno. I just grew up with it, I guess. Have you ever tried it?"
“Yes, sadly,” He sighed dramatically, “Worst mistake of my life.”
"Hey!" Kasey exclaimed, laughing. She playfully shoved his arm as she sat down beside him again, pulling her legs up onto the couch.
