A guard stopped them at the door. "State your business," he barked, looking the group over.
A guard stopped them at the door. "State your business," he barked, looking the group over.
“Boss wanted me to take them in, not sure why though,” Vaughn said, shrugging his shoulders. “Some top secret buisness, as usual, y’know?” He chuckled and arched a brow.
The guard glared at him, seemingly not finding the situation funny. He grunted.
"A'right," he muttered, opening the doors warily.
(This is seeming way too easy for them…)
(Yeah, maybe someone inside would recognize that the last name on the card is not the same person as Vaughn (appearance wise))
Vaughn led them inside and glanced around. “The hell do we do now?” He muttered quietly to Avery.
"I didn't exactly get this far in my plan," she whispered back, her mouth barely moving enough to form the words. "I honestly didn't think you guys would agree with it, and then I didn't know if we'd get this far!"
“Great,” Vaughn muttered to himself. “What did we come here for in the first plan? Or was this just a field trip like situation?” He led them through the compound, scoping out the area.
"I don't know!" Avery quietly exclaimed. Turning to Dylan, she asked, "Why did we come here?"
(I wonder what happened to @ShadowMisfit ?)
(Not sure, probably just busy.)
(Probably.)
(Heya guys, sorry I've been so tied up. I'm caught up though. Just don't know exactly where to go from here.)
Dylan opened one eye and responded, "I have a hunch, and we need info to confirm it. If I'm right, then finding the Flame will be a heckuva lot easier. If not, then we might have to get our hands bloody. We'll see where it goes."
(No problem. It's fine; I'm just impatient…)
"So… Then where are we supposed to go now? 'Cause we can't just wander around here," Avery gestured to the hall they were currently standing in. "We're more likely to get caught if we just wander around."
Vaughn nodded in agreement. “The guard at the front seemed suspicious, so it’d be best to do what we have to do, then get out quick,” he commented.
"I'm looking for a commander. His name is Reiseil. Vaughn, you can take Element and ask around. I can vanish, and Avery can become inconspicuous. A mouse, perhaps?" He chuckled, giving Avery a smile, "Ignore me. The effect is the same, though. We spread out, find Reiseil, and leave."
"Sounds good to me. Element? Vaughn? What do you think?" Avery asked, turning to them.
“Fine with me,” Vaughn said, nodding. He checked his gun over, uneasy that the safety was on. It was his main source of protection, and not having it ready to be used just made him anxious.
"Okay. I guess that's the plan, then. What about a rendezvous point? We'll need to know where everyone else is so that we can find each other if we get separated," Avery noted. "What about here? We already know where this is, then we can just mark the way we go somehow."
"This will do. But…" he paused looking at Avery, "I want everyone here to note that if luck continues as it has ben so far, we won't have problems until the last minute. But we will have problems. We might want to have Oscar as a contingency."
He noted that she seemed pretty determined, but there was something else in her gaze he couldn't place. He mentally shrugged, instead focusing on their color. Hers, unlike his, were still both the same shade of (unmentioned eye color). She was whole. He was divided in himself.
He cursed himself for his poorly timed thoughts, then drew his mind back to the mission at hand.
…(unmentioned eye color).
(Oops. They're blue.)
Vaughn arched a brow, then nudged Element. “We best get going then,” he said and led her off down the hall.
Taking a deep breath to ready herself for the pain that was soon to follow, Avery flashed Dylan a quick smile and changed into a mouse. With silver fur, she wasn't as inconspicuous as she would have liked to be, but she couldn't change the color of her fur.
"Are you ready to go?" she asked Dylan, her voice as squeaky as the mouse she was.
Dylan was always amazed by Avery's ability, but somehow it was uncanny this time.
"Yep, let's go."
He vanished and took off down another hall.
Avery's head hurt. Her ability was taking a toll on her again. But she didn't want to be a bother, so she scurried after Dylan without so much as a squeak. She used her enhanced sense of smell to trail him, sniffing every few seconds to make sure she was still following him.
(Hello? Anyone here?)
( my lips are so chapped that they're stolen )
Element walked down the hallway, head down, twiddling her thumbs.
(Oh, ouch! That's horrible!)
Dylan came to a set of double doors. Laughter and the clanging of silverware could be heard inside. No doubt this was some kind of mess room, or drink hall. He pushed open the door slightly, and suddenly a well built man barged through, almost hitting Dylan. He backed away just in time. Glancing around, Dylan spotted Avery safely out of the way as well.
As the man barged through the door, Avery let out a small squeak and dashed for a small hole in the wall. She poked her face out and looked around after a second, making sure that he was gone. Once she was sure he was, she crept back out and scuttered to Dylan.
Or, where she thought he was by smell, anyway.
Vaughn walked alongside Element, his gun now stuffed into his wasteband. “It would have been helpful to know what this guy looks like,” he murmured.
