Dylan dropped Reiseil to the floor. Blood covered the man's face, from the several times he had been punched. It hadn't really sunk in how angry Dylan had been until now. He had used his new power a few times, and though the pain of using it was gone, the effect it had on his state of mind was still very noticeable. Still, Dylan knew that he had to get back to relay the info he had. So he climbed up the stairs and stopped dead as he saw Avery, Lenny, and Vaughn crouched low. He vanished and approached Avery.
"What's going on?" He whispered, seemingly annoyed. He looked up at the old woman outside, "What's with the old hag outside?"
After a quick glance at Dylan, Avery turned back to watch the doors. "That lady's just been standing there, checking her watch every few seconds. We don't know why she'd here," she explained.
Vaughn’s frown grew at the way Dylan described the woman, but decoded not to say anything. “I’ll go check it out,” he said, getting up and going to the doors before they could protest. He opened the door, poking his head out, giving the old woman’s friendly smile. “Ma’am? This is private property. Are you lost?” He asked in a polite tone.
(Does someone want to play the woman?)
(Sure, I will.)
The woman smiled at him. "Oh, no, dear. I'm not lost. Just looking for something that was," she stated innocently.
“Oh, alright, ma’am. Is there anything I can get you? This station doesn’t provide gas anymore,” Vaughn stated, still keeping his smiley and polite composure, which looked very different on him.
"Yes, thank you. Um, you see…" she cleared her throat, and her voice was much less creaky, sounding more like that of a young woman. Standing up straight, she looked Vaughn right in the eyes. "I actually would like those people that you are hiding in there. Oh, and you, too, of course." Quick as lighting, she whipped a gun from her purse and pointed it at his head. "And, if you don't come with me, then I'll shoot you and your friends right here."
Vaughn’s eyes widened, and he went stiff. He took a deep breath, taking on his calm expression once again. “Ma’am, I’m the only one here. Please lower your gun, and we can work this out.”
The woman chuckled and smirked. "Don't think I didn't see them jump behind that shelf," she said, nodding toward it. "And, no. We really can't work this out. I've been sent to capture you. Dead or alive."
Vaughn inhaled sharply. There was nothing he could do, and his jaw tensed. “You are making a mistake, ma’am..” It was times like this when he wished that he had the strength to just shove her, but he vowed long ago that he would never hurt a woman or child.
"No. No, I'm not," she chuckled, slowly making her way forward. "And I don't think you're going to stop me, are you?"
Vaughn was forced to step back partly into the store, the gun still pressed to his head. He didn’t say a word, not liking to admit defeat. He hoped the others would see the back door and then gun. He hoped they would run, as he wasn’t fond of the idea of handing themselves over easily.
Avery heard the conversation, after shifting her ears to wolf's ears to hear better. She narrowed her eyes, watching the entire exchange from behind her shelf.
"Someone should help him," she murmured, half to herself.
Vaughn’s jaw clenched, and he decided to make the stupid decision. If he got shot, he hoped that Element would be able to heal him like she did before. “Just let me get them,” he said in a calm tone before jerking sharply away from the gun and hitting her arm away so th gun would be pointed away from him.
“Back door, now!” He shouted to the others. He grabbed the woman, pinning he arms to her sides so it would be more difficult to shoot the others.
Avery heard Vaughn's shout and muttered under her breath, "Foxdung!" She rolled her eyes, then shapeshifted into a wolf with silver fur and eyes. "You guys go! I'll help Vaughn," she declared, already making her way to the front door.
The woman still had a good grip on her gun, and she maneuvered it in her hand so that she could shoot. She aimed near Vaughn's foot, then pulled the trigger.
Vaughn flinched and cursed sharply when the bullet went into his upper foot, around his ankle area. He ripped the gun from her hand, throwing it across the lot.
A growl emanated from Avery's throat as she saw the woman shoot Vaughn's foot. She raced over to them and bared her teeth.
"Get out of here," she growled at the woman.
The woman glared at Vaughn, and when Avery spoke, she just rolled her eyes.
Vaughn let the woman go, putting most of his weight on his good foot. His ankle was most likely broken, and he mentally cursed himself.
The woman shot Vaughn an evil-looking grin, then pulled another gun from her side. She waved it in front of him teasingly before aiming at Avery.
"Change back now, or I shoot you both," she demanded.
"Never!" Avery exclaimed, lunging at her.
Vaughn realized that he didn’t have his own gun on him, and he took a stumbling step towards the two. “Avery, don’t!”
From out of a shadowy void two hands reached out, one picking up Avery and carrying her to a safe distance, the other took hold of the lady. Dylan walked from behind the door.
"Do not lay a finger on her, you wretch!" He spat, blades of ice in his voice yet again, "I will make you suffer!" With that, he created an umbra guillotine and held her towards the blade.
“Dylan, don’t,” Vaughn spat, glaring sharply. “We can use her for information.”
Element jumped out, and lifted the earth around the old woman, creating a stony trap. "Someone knock her out!" she yelled.
(Is this while she's in Dylan's hold? Just making sure.)
Dylan wheeled around, both eyes blazing gold fury. He didn't drop the blade, but he didn't dispel it either, instead leaving both the guillotine and the hand in place. He did release Avery, who he had seen transform into a wolf.
"As if you have the right to tell me who or who not to kill, Vaughn! "
“She can’t do anything to hurt you now! Don’t be an arse, there’s no need to kill the woman!” Vaughn shouted harshly.
( yes. super strong trap )
Element huffed, and with her free hand she pulled up a rock and dropped it on the woman's head. She fell unconscious. Element pulled her up, still in the rocky prison, and tried to move her, but Dylan's…. thing was blocking her. "Dylan." she grunted, her teeth clenched. Rocks were not fun to hold in the air.
Avery struggled to get free from Dylan's shadowy grasp, and when he finally did, she jumped away from where she'd been held. She growled once before changing back into her regular form, then walked over to the group, fuming.
She faced Dylan, hands on her hips and a fierce, fiery look in her eyes. "Why would you do that?" she demanded hotly. "I could've taken her just fine!"
Dylan dropped his shadow on the woman as he turned to Avery, and Element moved her to the corner of the gas station, letting out a breath as the weight came off her shoulders. She walked over, and made her trap more secure.
Dylan turned in surprise, and all at once his demeanor changed. His shadows vanished, and his eyes returned to their bi-colored state. He blinked a couple times.
What just happened?
Dylan turned to look behind him. The woman was unconscious. He turned back to Avery, a dumbfounded look on his face.
"What did I do? I didn't kill anyone, did I?"
“I’m going to go do something this..” Vaugh said, motioning towards his ankle. He stumbled inside, catching himself on the counter and moving into the back room. He collapsed onto his cot, coving his face with a pillow when he got the urge to scream out of frustration.
He pulled a box from under the bed and dug through the medical supplies. He took his boot off and grimaced at the sight of his ankle. It was definetly shattered, and he was positive he would end up with a pretty terrible limp.
(This is getting good!)
"No, thank goodness!" Avery exclaimed, still fuming. "You very nearly did, though! And you practically dragged me away from what I was about to do, too! Why would you do that? Don't you think I can handle myself?"
