“I would never eat the kitten!” Marcos protested immediately as he followed Justin out of the store, holding the little calico close to his chest. But he nodded, “Yeah, I’m sure the kitten wants to get home, though. We should flag down a cab.”
“I have a better idea.” Justin pulled out his phone and made a phone call. “Ok, our ride will be here in five minutes.”
“Who did you just call?” Marcos asked skeptically while he pet the kitten.
“A friend. I promise it’s free.” Justin said as a limousine pulled up, in front of them.
Marcos’ jaw dropped, “A limo! Ohmygosh,” Marcos said so fast it sounded like one word, “We’re riding in a limo?” Marcos looked at Justin, then flung one arm, the one not holding the kitten, around Justin, “This is so cool!”
“What else would you expect to ride in? A taxi is too cheap.” Justin laughed and climbed in.
Marcos climbed in behind Justin, smiling. This is so cool… Once Marcos sat down, he held up the kitten to Justin, “Do you want to hold her?”
“Obviously.” He took the kitten. “What should we name her?”
“I dunno, what do you think?” Marcos asked as the little kitten licked Justin’s thumb.
“You can name her, you picked her out.” Justin smiled.
“Well…” Marcos bit his lip, “Three in Hawaiian is ‘ekolu, and since she had three paws, maybe we could name her Kolu?” He looked a Justin hesitantly to see if he’d like the name too.
“That is so cute. We should totally name her that.
Marcos smiled, then baby-talked to the kitten, “How do you like that name? You like it? Aww, you’re so cute, Kolu. Who’s the cutest kitten in the world? You are,” Marcos pet the little kitten’s head and she started purring.
The limo pulled up to their apartment and Justin got out taking the kitten from Marcos.
Marcos followed as they walked into the apartment. He plopped down on his bed realizing they forgot something, “We probably need kitten food. And a litter box.”
“Oh ya, give me a minute.” Justin walked out of the room made a call then came back in.
“Cool,” Marcos said, watching Kolu looking around the apartment, managing fine on her own with her three paws and all. Marcos looked at Justin, “Soooo….”
“Stuff will be here in a few minutes.” Justin smiled, sitting down newt to Marcos.
Marcos scooted a little closer to Justin -too close for ‘just friends’- and asked, “So what do you want to talk about now?”
Justin copied Marcos and scooted closer. “I don’t know, what do you want to talk about?”
“I dunno…” Marcos trailed off, slouching and leaning towards Justin so that his head was on his shoulder. Marcos waited for a reaction.
Justin froze in his spot not wanting Marcos to move.
(Sorry I disappeared, I had practice)
“Justin?” Marcos asked quietly, and debated turning his head to look at his roommate. He didn’t, Marcos just kept his head on Justin’s soft shoulder.
“Yes?” He stayed exactly as he was.
(lol I had practice too)
“I lo-“ Marcos clamped his mouth shut before he could say what he wanted to say. Gosh he was so stupid… Marcos asked before the awkward silence came, “What do you want to talk about?”
Justin turned his head. “You lo- what?”
“I look dorky, I’m sure,” Marcos sat up, heat rising to his face already.
“Why do you look dorky you look cu- I mean, cunning.” Justin smiled.
“Cunning? How do I look cunning?” Marcos asked, tilting his head to the side as he looked at Justin.
“I bet all the guys would be after you.” Justin laughed then slowly faded out as he realized how that sounded.
