Havenwood checked on the meat idly, humming still.

Yo kid, are you sure you wanna live this life? Her mind asked. Marry a god? Elise scowled at herself. What makes you think I'd marry him, yeah? She laughed at herself. Last night, kid. You ain't got many other options. Another scowl.

Havenwood glanced at her over his shoulder. "Who are you scowling at?"

Elise was jerked out of her thoughts. "Sorry, what? I was thinking to myself."

"Whatcha thinking about?" Havenwood turned around so he was facing her.

"Things. Stuff. That I probably should have gotten over with a while ago." She doesn't laugh, but she doesn't go all-serious, either. She doesn't want to worry him.

Havenwood studied her, noticing she probably didn't want to talk about it. "Alright, if you say so."

"Thanks." Elise turned back to the wall. See? You can't even tell him the truth. This warranted a fist against the table.

Havenwood jumped a little and looked at her again. "Are you sure you're alright?"

"I'm okay. I can make myself angry sometimes." She gave him a weak smile. See? There we go. I told him. A smug smile. Not all of it. Elise tried to withhold a sort of growl.

Havenwood crossed his arms. "Something's wrong. You can tell me, Elise."

Here's your chance. You gonna bail? You don't deserve to love him - STOP! I'll tell him. I'll tell him. "It's just - I don't know. I'm surrounded by - well, gods - and I don't know what I want to do. Especially with you in the picture." Elise attempts to hide under her bangs.

"Surrounded, huh?" He grinned. "I… know how to make a mortal a God, if you want." Would I… do that for her? Yes, He answered himself firmly. Wait… that was really fucking risky. Oh geez…

"I don't know. I don't even know if I want to stay here…forever. Or even soon." Okay, now she really was trying to hide, lying down on the couch so he couldn't see over the top from where he was standing.

Coward. She thought to herself. Shut up. Shut up now. She gritted her teeth.

The look on Havenwood's face flickered. I totally took that the wrong way.

"I love you, don't get me wrong. But this whole Olympus thing. As much as I did hate the city, I kinda loved it. You'd adapt." Wait, WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? You didn't just invite him to live with you in the city, did you? She asked herself incredulously. More gritting of teeth. Yeah, I did.

Havenwood sighed and looked out the window. "I can't leave Olympus. Especially now. I can send you back, and make you forget all about this if that's what you'd prefer."

"No. I…I don't want to forget." Her voice cracked. "I don't even know. Maybe…more time to think." Her voice raised a bit hopefully.

"Time to think won't help you change the shock that I brought." He sighed. I was so stupid to approach her like that. Why couldn't I have been more tactical?

"I tell myself I want to stay. But then I think of the city. Want to leave. Look back at you. Want to stay. I'm stuck." Her voice cracked another note lower, teeming with emotion. "What a way to start the day. Well, afternoon." She chuckled shakily.

"Look, I can take you back, and it'll be a synch to erase your memories of this place since you don't have so many of them and… I can find some other way to fight this war. They need me here. I can't leave."

"No. No no no. I don't want to leave you. That I know." Elise sighed. "I'm going to stay for now. I don't think you want me leaving either. You can't erase your memories of me, can you?"

"No," Havenwood rumbled. "I wouldn't want to, but if I let you leave here, without me, your memories would be down the drain." He shifted so he no longer was facing her.

"I told you I don't want to leave." Elise's voice trembled. "Do…do you want me to?"

"No, obviously not," He answered quickly, "but taking that you… dislike it here, you want to leave. But I understand that."

"I don't dislike it. I just happen to like the city too."

"Yeah, I get it, okay? I shouldn't have approached you like this." He turned the meat over when he realized it was burning. "I'll take you back. It's unfair to you to keep you in like this."

"No!" Elise sat up, the blood rushing from her head making her appear pale. "I don't want to leave you. And besides, think of yourself? You're not going to forget me either."
