Gij was running. He was running hard and for his life. He held an animal to his chest, he could feel it flailing as he ran. There were people running after him, but they were no policemen. They were wild-faced Sirens, except they were on land. They were mad; hella mad. Gij turned a corner and ran straight into someone, and collapsed onto the ground. The Sirens run past, but the girl he ran into had seen the dragon. It was a black-blue color with stripes of bright white that glowed, even in the darkness of the alley.

Sia gasped in surprise as someone barreled straight into her. “Hey! Watch where you’re-“ she stopped when she noticed the dragon. “Where did you get that?” She hissed.

Gij stole a glance over his shoulder and hastily picked up his lump of shaking animal.
“It doesn’t matter!” He bumbled softly, as the Sirens tore farther and farther away. He stood up hastily, shaking visibly himself.

“Yes it does.” Sia insisted, peering at the boy and dragon. “Dragons are a rarity around here, and for all I now, you could’ve stolen it!”

Gij wrinkled his nose at her and shied away into a shadow of a dumpster. “Just because this might be a dragon, doesn’t mean it’s not your business!”

“It is my business if you’re a thief!” Sia exclaimed, advancing. “ Your behavior sure indicates so!”

Gij glanced over at the main street nervously, biting his tongue. “Please quiet down. You’ll attract them back over and they’ll take him back.”

Sia frowned. “And who’s ‘them’? The police?”

“No!” Gij glared breifly at her. “Why would I tell you? It’s none of your business!”

Sia rolled her eyes. “True, but why did you steal the dragon in the first place?”

Gij huffed at her indignantly. “That’s none of your business either!”

“I think it is if you’re a public menace!” She argued. “For all I know, you’ll be pinching the neighborhood pets next! Or worse!”

“This is more than just a heist for a pet! This is something serious! Now get out of my face!” He closed his eyes. “Please.”

“What could be so serious you feel obligated to commit a crime?” She sighed, crossing her arms.

“I don't have time to be standing around with you!” Gij whisper shouted. “Please get out of my way!”

“Not until you answer me.” She hissed. “Or I will call the cops regardless of your motives!”

“I’m not going to answer you!” Gij snapped quietly. “I need go go! And the cops aren’t going to stop me, nor will they be able to.”

Sia shook her head. “I’m not letting you go until you answer! Besides, if we keep going around in circles like this, someone’s going to find us here eventually.”

Gij huffed at her. “That’s why I want to go! I have to get out of here!” At that moment, the dragon decided to coo in his arms.

Sia looked down at the dragon, smiling slightly before returning her gaze to Gij’s face. “Just answer the gosh-darn question and I’ll let you and cutie there go.”

Gij shifted his grip on the dragon so its head disappeared again.
“No. I’m not going to answer it.”

Sia threw up her hands. “Tell me why! I’m not letting you leave!”
