This made Axtin freeze. His large grin shrank in an instant. He really liked Xander so far. Sure it had only been about an hour, but he didn't want to startle the other man away by answering truthfully. He felt reluctant to lie too. Thinking for a moment, he decided to make Xander a deal.
"It's quite the story. Something I shouldn't say with so many people around. Were we to go somewhere less busy I could tell you."

"If I'm going to be fair, I can tell you, just not here," He replied. If he was going to have any chance with Xander, he might as well know early on before it comes up too late. He'd hate to have known Xander for years and have him leave once he knew what Axtin was.
