Her smile melted everything away. His eyes softened and a smile was on his face. "It truly is." He looked off into the distance, grabbing her hand once again. He was going to just let it end like that, he won't let this end. He wants to get to know her better, stay with her on the nights she can't go home on and protect her. So, he'll keep going until that time comes.
She let him grab her hand. As he looked away, she fell even more for him. When she looked into his eyes, they were two different colors, but they had the same light in them. It was like she was stargazing after living in the city her entire life. It was silent. All that was heard was the faint chirping of crickets. But the silence was comfortable. It was the best feeling in the world.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else." Ash shrugged with a laugh. "So you hate that thing just as much as I do, huh?" She gestured to the ferris wheel
“I hate heights.”

"How could you hate heights? That's the only good thing about the ferris wheel. Other than that it's a boring, supposedly romantic ride." Ash scoffed

"Wow, no need to get angry. Jeez." Ash muttered, slouching down farther on the bench and crossing her arms over her chest as though she were pouting.

"We should do this again?" It came out as a question instead of a statement, which he didn't mean to do. "I mean only if your okay with it." Xavier didn't want this to end. For some reason, he felt that he just needed to be with her. It was a weird feeling, but it was still there.
She looked at him and smiled. "I'd really like that." It was like the rest of the world didn't exist. It was just the two of them in that moment. Kate knew that if she wasn't beside him, she'd have an ache in the pit of her stomach until she had him back. All she wanted was this. She gently rested her head on his shoulder and they stood together.
"I'll stay with you until you need to go home, okay?" He wasn't going to leave her out here by herself, not when there are so many horrible people out there now. "Just tell me when you want to go home."
"Wow, no need to get angry. Jeez." Ash muttered, slouching down farther on the bench and crossing her arms over her chest as though she were pouting.
“I’m sorry, I wanted to go on the swings but by idiot brother dragged me here” he grumbled
She took her head off his shoulders. "I mean, you don't have to." She didn't want to make it seem like she- She didn't know what she didn't want to seem like. She looked down at the ground and began to just ramble. "Honestly, I'll be fine. I'm used to it by now. The library is a cool place it's twenty-four hours and that's good. It's okay really." She continued on her rambling, trying not to meet his eyes.
"Too late, you're stuck with." He smiled and winked. He was not going to leave her alone. "If you want I can go to the library with you any night." Xavier held out his hand. "Hand me your phone."
She looked at him. She wouldn't be alone tonight. Gosh, he's cute. "I-" You idiot. "Okay." She took out her phone and handed it to him.
Xavier hit a few buttons and handed it back. "There you have my number now." He gave it back. "Call me to meet you every night. I don't want you to stay anywhere by yourself, got it?"

She smiled and felt herself blushing. Taking her phone back, she looked down at the ground to hide her red cheeks. "Okay, she said biting her lip.
"Good." He pulled her a bit closer. "If anything happens call me." Take it slow Xavier. He was just worried about her, not just because he liked her, he would be worried for anyone who parents who won't let their kids come home till this late.
As he pulled her close, everything was right with the world. Nothing was falling apart. No one was hurt. It was just. Perfect. And then her phone started to ring. Her heart dropped as she let go. She took her phone out of her back pocket. Her heart sunk lower. This isn't good. She looked up at Xavier with a worried face. "My mom is calling."
"You should answer it." He went and sat on the bench. He should give her a bit of space, she was uncomfortable talking about her family so listening to the conversation would be bad. But, why now? It was perfect and then her mom calls.
She pressed the answer button. A screaming voice same through the phone, so loud she had to pull her phone away from her ear. "KATE WHY HAVEN'T YOU MOVED YOUR STUFF OUT! I TOLD YOU TO TWO WEEKS AGO!" Shoot. "I'm sorry, Mom, I was-" "WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!" "I mean, I'm sorry Ms.Jackson." She looked at the ground. She hoped that Xavier couldn't hear a word said. "I can come and take it right now." "NO NEED, I THREW IT OUT! DON'T EVER SHOW YOUR FACE TO ME AGAIN, YOU HEAR?!" "Yes." A beep indicating the end of the call sounded. She closed her eyes and sighed. I should've known she would have found out…
"I think it's about time you tell me what's going on." How could he not hear that. "Kate, what is happening at your house?" He face was full of worry. Does her family hate her or something? That's awful.
She turned back to him and shook her head. "It's really no big deal, honestly. Don't worry." She gave him the best reassuring smile she could give.
"I don't believe that one bit." He leaned back crossing his arms in front of him. He won't force her because it was none of his business, so for now he'll leave it. "I don't believe you, but I won't force you." He sighed and relaxed.
When vash got home she was long past curfew, which ment her foster father would not be happy "I'm home!" She shouted into the house. Silences. Was he not home? That'd be good, she thought to her self as she walked to her room and locked herself inside.
Kate couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes. "Thank you." She stood there, just wanting the moment back. She bit her lip. "I'm sorry." She turned around and looked up to the sky. the stars were starting to come out. She always loved the stars. "I'm trying. I really am."
