Zoey gasped. "Ice cream??!!?!?" She smiled.
Zoey gasped. "Ice cream??!!?!?" She smiled.
"Okay!" Lenny said, turning around. She saw a boy approaching them, also a new face. She ran over to him and smiled. "Hi, I'm Lenny, and this is Levi and Zoey. We're gonna go get some free ice cream! Wanna come?" she asked.
Robin froze a bit, unsure how to react to suddenly being thrown into a social interaction. "Er, I-I… sure? I'm… M-my name is Gabriel Jones, b-but you can call me Robin. Nice to meet you." He awkwardly held out his hand to shake hers. His parents had said it was polite. The bird chirped a bit, looking up at the new people.
Lenny shook his hand. "Oh my gosh, how did you get that bird to stay on your shoulder?Thats amazing!"
Levi pointed to the bird on his shoulder. "Is that your pet?"
Zoey quietly observed the bird on Robin's shoulder.
"Oh!" Robin glanced at the bird, which simply looked back at him. "I-I'm not sure, I've always just had a way with animals."
Lenny smiled wide. "Thats amazing. So, you'll get ice cream with us?" she questioned, really hoping he would.
Levi nodded. "Cool." He reached out to pet the bird, but retracted his hand in fear that the bird might peck his finer off or something. "I'm glad there might be another boy coming."
"Me too." Zoey stated. "But I haven't really spent a lot of time with animals recently." She lifted up her hair, revealing a scar near the base of her head. "I had brain cancer."
"Um, sure!" He barely knew these people, and yet they wanted to take him somewhere? Was he good at making friends, or were these people just friendly? The bird dozed off again, clearly bored.
(awww Zoey…)
"Oh wow Zoey." Lenny breathed as they started walking towards the ice-cream shop. "Thats crazy!"
"Are you alright?" Levi asked. He didn't know too much about stuff like this.
(Zoey is a survivor. Brain cancer changed the way she looks at the world. She now treats everything as a blessing, and is grateful for every breath she breathes.)

(aww that's so sweet)

( I very much agree )
Zoey nodded. "I'm okay now. But it was scary. I didn't know whether I would wake up the next morning. So now I try to stay optimistic, and encourage others. I want other people to know that God cared enough about me to save me, and he cares enough about them to save them too!"
Robin remained silent, unsure how to react to the other comment. And, he had already talked aloud. He didn't want to talk too much.
"Thats amazing Zoey." Said Lenny. "So, whats everybody's favorite ice cream flavor?" Lenny asked, trying to lighten the conversation. "Sorry that was random." she winced.
"And my favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip." She said, answering Lenny's question.
Levi shrugged. "I like all ice cream. Anything chocolate is the best." He smiled again.
"Hey thats my favorite too!" said Lenny. Then she sighed. "My mom died of cancer when I was younger. It still hurts, but I try to see it as a blessing. Now I know that life is short, and I need to be the best person I can be. At least for Mom."
Levi awkwardly stuck his hands in his pockets again, feeling really weird. He wasn't good at serious conversations. Nothing like this had happened to him, so he didn't know how to react. Well, his cat died when he was seven but that was it.
Zoey nodded. "I'm sorry about your mom."
"This conversation is heavy. Lets talk about something lighter, like the fact the ITS FINALLY SUMMER!" Lenny cried, doing a little happy dance.
(Guys pls listen to Good Morning by Mandisa. Basically anything by Mandisa. She is a very inspirational and encouraging singer.)
Robin's bird chirped disdainfully at Lenny, disliking the sudden noise. Robin stroked her head until she fell back asleep, and he still said nothing. Now was he being too quiet? Was there even a happy medium between too much and not enough?
Zoey gasped again. "Yes!!!!! Summer time! No more school for a whole two to three months!!!!" She rejoiced.
( Hey I know that song! )
