Damian wandered through town pulling the large elk be hind him. It had taken a while but he finally took him down anand now he can butcher and sell the meat for a bit of coins. He still had that bag of coins on him, but it wasn't his and he didn't want to use it in case the person who dropped it needed it. There were lots of stares from the towns people, even though they didn't like him much, they all knew he was the best hunter in this place and without him they wouldn't have the meat they do now.
Edwin glanced at Savannah, and asked quieter, “Do they sell venison here?” It was more of a personal question, as Edwin’s favored food was deer meat. It was one of his country’s specialties.
Savannah nodded. "Of course. Damien is one of our best hunters, whether the others like it or not. Most do not hold him in very high esteem…"
“Really? I’d love to meet him later when all this is done,” Edwin waved a hand nonchalantly as he spoke quietly, “He should be held to a high esteem. Venison is good meat.”
(Sorry to barge in, but can I join?)
"True… well, the feast should be over fairly soon. Then, there will be the coronation ceremony and such. The wedding has already been planned, of course. I trust that you know that it will take place next week?"
(Sure ^^)
“Next week? How, nobles sure like fast marriages,” Edwin mumbled, but then continued, “I’m sure my Captain of Guard mentioned it before and I just didn’t listen.”
"Well, the betrothal was planned ages ago, so the wedding was as well. Most weddings don't occur so quickly, I suppose, but with the lack of a king… it was necessary."
“I don’t see why a queen can’t rule on her own,” Edwin muttered, then bit his tongue. If any one else heard it, there might be some outrage.
Evanna smiled slightly, standing straight and holding her ax beside her.
Savannah shrugged. "It's generally frowned upon. The king has most of the power, after all. The king is the stability of the country, and if he dies, then all hell breaks loose. The queen does do quite a bit more than people would expect, though."
(Gah…my internet connection is really crappy tonight. I will actually jump into this RP tomorrow. Sorry about this you guys. Although, can I be the captain of the guard for the prince when I do jump in?)
(I'd say yes, but it's up to @Rvan ^^)
(Yeppers, ODragon. Oh captain, my captain.)
Edwin frowned at how the king was put on somewhat of a pedestal. The Prince opened his mouth and said proudly, “In my country the queen takes charge.”
(…is that a reference to a poem)
(cause if so just know)
(I love that poem so much)
"Really? What's it like there? Does everything run smoothly?" I'm sure it does… women are generally more responsible with that kind of power…
(Dead Poet's Society)
(Kind of. It’s a reference of a reference but mostly a reference to Dead Poet’s Society end scene sobbing in background)
“Of course it runs smoothly. My mother is an amazing woman and ruler,” Edwin said, loud enough for the nearby nobles to hear.
"I don't doubt it. I wish it worked that way here… being queen will be very stressful. I mean, I'm only sixteen! I can only hope that all the training I've received will be enough."
(Dead Poet's Society)
(Oh. I was think O Captain! My Captain by Walt Whitsman. I think that's his name the print on my copy is really blurry)
"I don't doubt it. I wish it worked that way here… being queen will be very stressful. I mean, I'm only sixteen! I can only hope that all the training I've received will be enough."
“Too young,” Edwin muttered, even though he was only one year her senior. It was still too young to become king and queen. The prince looked at Savannah, his bride to be. The words carried a too heavy weight. He shook his head, more to himself, but then said, “I’m sure you’ll do fine.”
Savannah sighed, adjusting her gloves so that they sat upon her elbows and straightening her tiara. "I just hope that I'll be a good queen… I don't want to make foolish decisions. I've been reading and studying as much as I can to be prepared, and I suppose that's all I can do at this point."
“You will be great,” Edwin affirmed once more, despite him not actually knowing much about the princess. He looked to Evanna, “She will be great, will she not?”
Evanna shrugged. "I don't doubt her, if she'll stop running off to God knows where leaving her guard in a panic." She stared pointedly at Savannah.
