(Yea i guess so)
It was late. Roxanne was late to class too. She sprinted down the sidewalk from her car to her class, as she did, she heard a scream cut short from nearby.
OMIGOD WHAT HAPPENED? Roxanne's head screamed as she ran to where she heard the scream.
(Ohh sorry I was at Band practice. Did I tell you? I think so.)
A man in a hoodie looked up from a body, holding a bloody knife. He started towards her waving the knife threateningly. "You saw nothing!" He shouted in a deep voice.
Roxanne took her glasses off, pretending they were off the whole time. "You're right," She answered, voice quavering. "I didn't see anything. See? My glasses aren't on my face."
He paused and glared at her, though she couldn't tell. "Don't play tricks with me. Go! Or I kill you too."
Roxanne slid her glasses back on her face and ran. Her first thought was to her car, but that would be too much trouble to unlock. Her next thought was to class, but that would lead the murderer to other people. No, she would keep running until she couldn't run any further.
He's not following you. A gentle male voice whispered, much different than the one she was frightened by.
Roxanne didn't stop running, but she slowed down a little. "Who said that?"
I… am the person he killed. I think. I don't really know what I am. The young male (by the sound of it) giggled nervously.
"So…..you're a ghost?" Roxanne asked, voice visibly shaking.
Yeah. I guess. Could you stop running? I need to catch up. Not… to be mean or anything. I just want to prove to you that I'm real and all.
"No, I think I'd like to keep running."
The male sighed gently. Okay, suit yourself. I can wait, I guess.
"I…..can't…..run…..any…..more…..too….tired…." Roxanne huffed, stopping.
Okay… here I am! He appeared. A faded white-silvery form appeared slowly in the dark, to reveal a floppy-haired, shining-eyed man.
Roxanne collapsed on the ground. "I'm a makeup artist! Not a runner!" She pointed out out loud, mostly to herself.
The male sat down gently next to her. You doing okay? He moved his lips, but she heard his voice in her mind already as if it were already registered.
"Yes. Just give me a few minutes to catch my breath," Roxanne answered. "I've never really run much before."
Okay. Will do. He laid back.
About a minute later, Roxanne was fine, and she stood up.
He stood with her, blinking thoughtfully. I've seen you before on campus. You're Roxanne.
"You….know my name?" She asked, thoroughly surprised.
Yeah. You're super popular, aren't you? How don't I? He grinned. But now I'm dead. Huh.
"Well, yeah, I guess. I'm really only popular cause everyone wants me to do their makeup. I don't think any of them really want to be my friend."
He grinned brightly. I wanted to be your friend when I was alive… I don't know how I feel about me being dead. But anyway…. um… what was I saying?
"Kinda wish he had killed me. Might have seen Calvin again," Roxanne said sadly.
Calvin? Who's that?
"Hmm? Oh. He was my brother. My childhood…..wasn't the best. But he was always there for me. And then he died in a car crash."
Oh. I'm sorry. That sounds terrible. He set a hand on (in?) her shoulder.
