Madeline sighed and side-eyed him. "Not get sick?"
Madeline sighed and side-eyed him. "Not get sick?"
"I'm not going to get sick Madeline." Cameron answered reassuringly.
"You can't promise that," Madeline shot back, giving him a look. "If you did, and you got sick, then you'd break that promise. You wouldn't want to break a promise to your best friend, would you?"
Cameron smiled. "No, of course not. But I'm not going to get sick, okay?"
Madeline shrugged. "If you say so…" she trailed off as she picked up the bowl of soup and held it in her lap. Pulling her knees up close to her chest, she let the bowl rest on top of them and picked up the spoon to start eating her soup.
Cameron watched Madeline for a few moments before walking back into the kitchen.
"Watcha doin'?" Madeline called after Cameron, watching him walk to the kitchen.
"Getting something." He called back.
"Hm," Madeline hummed to herself before going back to eating her soup.
Cameron smiled and shook his head before walking back into the living room with strawberry ice cream in hand. "Why don't we have a Marvel marathon?" He said as he put the ice cream by Madeline. "It's much funner than going out for lunch anyways."
"'Funner' isn't a word, Cam," Madeline pointed out with a small smile. "A Marvel marathon sounds good. You're not allowed to eat all my ice cream, though. You know that's my favorite."
"….Fine. It's much more fun than going out for lunch. And I promise I won't eat all your ice cream." He said, putting his hands up in surrender as he sat down beside her and picked up the remote.
Madeline nodded her approval. "Good. Otherwise, I'll make sure to cough on you so that you do get sick," she teased.
Cameron put a hand over his heart. "You. Wouldn't."
"You wouldn't eat all of my ice cream," Madeline said, raising her eyebrows at Cameron challengingly.
"I wouldn't I promise!" Cameron defended, putting his hands up in surrender again.
(I'm watching The Bridge to Terebithia, and Josh Hutcherson is so little! Lol.)
"Good," Madeline laughed. She coughed a couple of times, then frowned.
(Ikr?? Lol)
"What's wrong Maddi?" Cameron asked as he looked over at her.
"The coughing just hurts my throat, that's all," Madeline explained. "Which movie are we going to watch first? Captain America: The First Avenger? That one is first chronologically, after all."
"Of course." Cameron said as he put it on and leaned back.
Madeline hummed and set her nearly empty bowl down on the coffee table. She leaned over and rested her head on Cameron's shoulder.
Cameron put his head on top of Madeline's and watched the movie silently.
(They do cute, romantic-ish things with each other and don't even realize it. Lol. I love it.)
With the warm soup in her stomach, a movie playing, and her best friend by her side, Madeline started to feel drowsy. She blinked a few times, trying to keep the sleep at bay. By the time the movie was half-way through, her eyelids had started to droop, hanging heavily down. She rubbed at her eyes and yawned before coughing a few times.
The few coughs turned into yet another coughing fit, and she pulled away from Cameron to cough into her arm.
(I love it too XD)
Cameron looked over at Madeline. He sighed and stopped the movie. "Come on, you need to get into bed."
"No, I–cough–want to finish our–cough–movie," Madeline croaked, shaking her head as she straightened. "I'm fine. Trust me."
Cameron shook his head as he bent over and scooped her up in his arms. "Nope. You're going to bed, okay?" We can finish the movie later."
"Don't wanna," Madeline grumbled, crossing her arms and looking a away from Cameron.
"Well, too bad." Cameron said as he carried her back to her room. "You're sleeping, whether you like it or not."
Madeline glared at Cameron. "Just 'cause I'm sick, doesn't mean you need to patronize me…"
Cameron shook his head, staying silent as he put her in her bed.
