"Are you and your siblings still associated? Like, do you guys still talk?" He grabbed a small stick of chocolate.
"Are you and your siblings still associated? Like, do you guys still talk?" He grabbed a small stick of chocolate.
"Occasionally I try to use a Ouija board," Vien said as if it was something he said often before grabbing himself a piece of chocolate
"That's a fake. I met a Spirit and it wasn't nearly as impressive as you'd think." He gave him a side glance. "I can see ET stuff cuz my demon-y-ness." He popped a bit of the chocolate in his mouth at a light.
"What I mean is that my siblings are dead. Since I was about fourteen, actually," Vien said before grabbing a small handful of caramels and eating them
"O-h. Sorry." Vin lapsed into silence, cursing his own stupidity. "Sorry… that was tactless and stupid."
"Trust me, that was elegant compared to the bonehead I used to live with. He used to ask me whether or not I could summon my dead family members to fight with," Vien scoffed
Vin rolled his eyes. "Well, if you actually wanted to, I could show you. I think I've done it enough to be able to do it faultlessly…" He chewed the chocolate thoughtfully as he drove.
"Don't bother. I'm unable to communicate with my family due to my contract," Vien said before grabbing another chocolate and eating it
"Contract?" Vin instantly regretted wondering. Maybe Vien wanted a line between them; maybe that was the line.
"You remember how I mentioned that I work a lot with demons?" Vien asked. "Well, around the time my family died, I made a contract. Magic in exchange for being employed by a powerful creature." As he spoke the tattoo on the back of his neck began to glow a cool blue, almost like a warning
Vin looked over, feeling a sense of fear for him. "Who is it? Are they…" Vin didn't want to sound ridiculous. "Nice, I guess, to you?"
"No, he's a complete asshole-erk!" Vien was cut off as his tattoo glowed a white-hot blueish color, appearing to shock Vien. His hand flew to the back of his neck, rubbing at his tattoo while he grimaced
"Then, why did you do it?? What is the exact reason you did it?" He felt irrationally mad, so mad, hs hands were shaking.
"If I tell you, the next jolt this damn spell gives me won't be a warning shock," Vien said, scowling as he pointed to his tattoo before taking another bite of chocolate
Vin sighed through his nostrils and tried to calm himself as he almost swerved into another driver.
"Look, I was fourteen and on the run from the people who massacred my family and nearly killed me. How well do you think my decision making skills were doing?" Vien scoffed
"Now look where's it's gotten you! And where it might get you in the future!"
"Well I'm currently doing just fine. I was young, but not stupid when I made the contract," Vien protested. "Besides, when I die I get to see my family again, which was-" he was going to say more, but his tattoo began glowing brightly again and he stopped himself before it could shock him
"Oh, yeaah you're doing just fine with that asshole limiting your speech."
"It's not like I can't talk at all. I just can't discuss the specifics of my contract," Vien said
"So what else is he making you do, huh?"
"It's not like he's making me sleep with him or something. He's got his weird boyfriend for that," Vien said, thinking that was why Vin was getting so upset
Vin tightened his grip on the wheel, which made a satisfying noise. He decided to drop the concept in case whoever was tormenting him stopped.
"Look, it's okay. I can handle what I got myself into," Vien tried to assure him. "Nothing bad is going to happen to me because of my contract."
"Yet." Vin growled as he drove to Vien's home.
"Love, please. I can take care of myself," Vien insisted gently. "Besides, my employer wouldn't kill off his best hitman."
"A hitman?" Vin didn't feel surprised, somehow. "Hm."
"More or less. I kill creatures, creatures don't kill me," Vien hummed
"Alright, then. Fine." Vin sighed.
Vien frowned as he looked out the window. He spotted his house coming into view, and he was suddenly grateful that he would be able to get out for a few minutes. He hated arguing with Vin, so he was grateful to get out of the car for a few minutes
