Leo got home. Lillian looked at him, "Did you know a Margaux at college?"
Leo thought for a moment, "Nope!"
Ginger leaped off of her bed and raced out the front door.
Darren sat up from his pile of leaves, his pale face searching the yard.
Lillian sat up and looked to Darren, "What is it?"
Darren frowned into the openness of the yard, “W-We. We missed Halloween,”
Lillian shrugged and sighed, "Oh yeah."
“We were so distracted that’s e missed an entire holiday,”
Lillian let out a sigh and looked down at the ground, "I guess."
Darren stood up, his feet wobbled awkwardly, barely supporting him. His hand tremored at his side.
Lillian stood up and grabbed his tremoring hand. She didn't know what exactly he was going to do about missing Halloween."
Darren leaned against her in recognition he would need help to move. He took a few steps forward, his knee buckled awkwardly.
Lillian wrapped an arm around his waist as she moved with him.
Darren dropped her hold she. They reached the garage. He stumbled his way to the back and came back out with a box labeled Halloween.
Lillian looked at the box, she had never really understood Halloween. Yes, it was fun as a kid, before her 'grounding', but otherwise she didn't see the point of teenagers celebrating. She looked to Darren and asked him, "What exactly are you planning?"
He put the box in the driveway. “I refuse to miss a holiday because I have cancer or life gets in the way.” He pulled out a plastic pumpkin and set it on the porch. His mom always liked that one so it was the only one that mattered enough to put up.
Lillian smiled a little, "But what are you going to do? Celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving at the same time?"
“No. Halloween is a pointless holiday so children can eat too much sugar.” He said dryly. “I like Fall and refuse to miss any part of it so this pumpkin is important and is staying there,”
Lillian chuckled a little, "Got it."
He pushed the box back into the garage and stared at the pumpkin. “I like Halloween because everyone thinks Balthazar is just a really co costume,” he chuckled.
Lillian smiled at him, "That's adorable. So you just walk around as a giant demon for a night?"
