Lillian kept rubbing his back as she let out a yawn, "Nothing will happen. I'll make sure of it."

There were all the stories about how coma patients would get to sleep for the night a day after the extubation and sleep for days in a pseudo-coma. He didn't want that. He wanted to stay with her, no more coma. He just shook his head.
Lillian smiled. She figured he was scared that he would go into a coma. Or maybe he was worried he would never wake up again, "Okay. I'll stay up with you then."
Darren sighed and cuddled into her, "Y-you, sleep," His voice was terribly groggy and raspy, it pained him to talk. That's not the sentence he meant to say but he was sure she understood.
Lillian nodded and kissed his forehead, "Okay. I'll sleep, if you want me too."
"You look," Darren began coughing again, this was irritating! "Tired," He rasped through coughs.
Lillian kept rubbing his back, "Don't talk. It's better if you don't right?"
Darren nodded, "Okay," He wheezed as he leaned into her. He willed his eyes to stay open but they fought against him, he considered asking a nurse if he was allowed to get up. The more he thought about sitting there, the more restless he bacame… or maybe he just had to pee.
Lillian eyes had shut and she was entering sleep. Maybe when she woke up this would have just been a dream. Darren would be fine. They wouldn't be in the hospital. They would be at home in Darren's room. Well at this point it should basically be their room.
(Hi)
Darren thought hard about hitting the button for a nurse to come and help him up, in the process, he too, fell asleep. He was worn out from everything and the war with his eyes was lost as they blinked closed.
(Hi)
(Hey)
(What's happening in this joint?)
(Fluff. Like that's all this has been. Just fluffy fluff.)
(Cuuutteeee
Where's my boy rn?)
(What's happening in this joint?)
(Fluffy cancer boi can't talk and he's afraid of sleep because he fears coma state… Ya know)
(Cuuutteeee
Where's my boy rn?)
(Sitting in the room on a chair next to the Dallian hospital bed)
(Right
Cool)
(Lillian fell asleep so maybe Rory could help Darren stay awake?)
(Okay that works!)
(Lillian fell asleep so maybe Rory could help Darren stay awake?)
(OKay!)
Darren's eyes were struggling hard to close and he tried impossibly so to keep them open.
Rory stared at Darren. "Why don't you sleep? You look exhausted."
Darren shook his head, really wishing he could speak. He reached for the notebook and wrote, 'I'm afraid to sleep,'
"Oooohhhhhh." Rory nodded. "I get that. When I was in the hospital, I didn't want to sleep the first night either."
Darren shook his head again and wrote as neatly as he could despite his shaking hand. 'I don't want to go back into a coma'
Rory peered at the paper. "Yeah it was the same for me Darren."He glanced up at him. "I've been where you are."
Darren raised an eyebrow and wrote on the paper again, 'Cancer?'
"Yep." Rory nodded. "I didn't have brain cancer, I had Leukemia, but it was just as frightening. I was so weak, that some nights I thought if I went to sleep, my body would just…..slip away from me."
Darren sighed in relief, someone else understood. He looked at Rory, he seemed to be okay, that would be him someday right? He wrote on the paper, "So your powers?" He suggested a subject change.
