Darren's eyes were working hard to stay open. His wet, tired, muddled, confused were saying more right now than his words ever could manage alone. It was Darren… He stared back at Lillian.

Lillian smiled at him and said quietly, "Hi Darren's eyes."

Darren opened his mouth slowly as his voice cracked out one quiet, simple word, "Lillian,"

Lillian felt her heart shatter and fix itself at that word, "Darren."

Darren closed his eyes again, his hand dropping back to lay limp at his side. A smile crossed his lips, he was happy.

Lillian continued to hold his hand. It didn't matter he didn't have the strength to stay awake, he wasn't dead.

His eyes opened a little again at the sound of the door clicking open and his brother encasing him in a hug so tight he wheezed. He hadn't been breathing for long and the extra chest pressure didn't make it easy.

Lillian gently pulled Cooper away, "He just started breathing again. Give him a minute!"

Cooper backed off, "I-I'm sorry,"

Darren wheezed and coughed, his chest hurt but he wasn't going to mention it.

Lillian rubbed Darren's hand, "Are you okay? Just nod."

Darren nodded and laced his fingers with hers weakly. He sounded like he was fighting to breath but his eyes were more open than they had been before.

Lillian smiled at him, "That's good."

He pulled on her hand like he wanted her to lay with him but he had trouble forming his words.

(Should Rory just burst in like "DARRENOMGYOU'REOKAY")

Rory threw the door open and rushed into the room. "DARREN! YOU'RE ALIVE!" HE glanced at Lillian. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME??"

Lillian looked to her hand, "Do you want me to lay next to you?"

Lillian looked to Rory, "BECUASE HE JUST WOKE UP!"

Darren jumped and winced, "H-hi," He rasped out. His breathing was fast and wheezy again.

"Hi and sorry." Rory smiled nervously. "Sorry."

Darren nodded an 'It's fine' to Rory, he wasn't so good at the talking part right now.

Lillian rubbed his hand again. She let out a sigh, "It's fine. Today's been nerve wrecking right?"

Darren nodded in agreement. Nerve wrecking to say the least.
