Darren looked around, this was like home to him. The waitress asked what they would like, Darren ordered his usual eggplant parmesan. Why did the waitress even ask anymore?

Lillian ordered the same thing as always. She didn't understand why they asked, curtesy she supposed. Another dark thought invaded her mind.
The waitress nodded and smiled at Darren. She patted his back as she walked away. She seemed to know what was happening today by the sad look on her face. God he hated pity.
Lillian looked to Darren, “Soooo, How’s life?”
Darren sighed, "What kind of question is that? I dunno how is life? You live it with me everyday,"
Lillian laughed, “Um stressful? Sorry it just feels awkward.”
Darren reached across the table to place her hand in his, "What's awkward… We've never been an 'awkward' couple."
Lillian let out a long sigh, “This. I don’t know. Something.”
"What's awkward about this?" Darren looked around the restaurant as the music played. Had he messed up? Did he forget something? No, this felt right. Right?
Lillian laid her head on the table, "Like I said. It might just be in my head okay?"
(SHE BACK!)
(YEET!)
Lillian laid her head on the table, "Like I said. It might just be in my head okay?"
"Hey, it's fine," He laughed.
Lillian glanced up at him, "Oh sure it is. It's not like I'm moments near death and your about to go into surgery where you will more than likely die. But instead your running off to go find your idiotic girlfriend."
Darren shook his head, "Wait what? Moments near death? Find who?"
Lillian laughed, "Your face."
"My face?" He seemed very confused. Was she high or something? "I'm confused."
Lillian leaned back up, "I have no idea where that came from, but the look on your face was priceless."
Darren's face melted into a smile, "That's not fair, my cognitive ability is broken,"
Lillian laughed, "Still priceless."
Darren shook his head, smile still present as he checked the time.
Lillian was smiling as she looked around. She faintly asked, "How long?"
Not long. "We have time," He hadn't let go of her hand. "Do you wanna go somewhere else before the hospital?"
(Pretends like they already ate… Darren didn't eat much but meh?)
(Works for me.)
Lillian shrugged, "Not really. Anywhere you want to go in case………"
All Darren wanted to do was kiss her and tell her how scared he was. "Don't think like that, I'll be okay." he looked around and stood up as he walked over to counter by the time he came back the music changed to Imagine Dragons. "Hey, it's our song," He laughed like it was unexpected.
Lillian gave him a sly smile as she got out of her seat, "It sure is. I wonder how that happened?"
"Will you dance with me?" His smile faded into full seriousness. This will not be the last time
Lillian looked at him as she gave a soft smile, "Of course."
Darren pulled her toward the dance floor, his arms wrapped around her tight as he listened to the music.
Lillian wrapped her arms around him. She just wanted to be in this moment here with him.
