(Yep)
"There's nothing that you have to be sorry for," Paige reinstated. "Nothing."
"But," Lillian had glazed eyes.
"Everything that happened to me was my choice. There was nothing you could do about it. Therefore, you have no need to apologize. "
Lillian looked to down. There was always something that could be done. Always. A mind can always be swayed, a heart can heal or shatter, but there is never anything that can't be done.
"I know what you're thinking," Paige said softly. "I really do. But… my heart was already shattered before the accident. It was broken long before, and there was nothing that you could have done."
He knew he couldn't erase her pain, but at least he could say he tried. "Does it hurt that much?" He mumbled under his breath.
Ginger didn't want to break the connection, but she pulled away slightly, only slightly, and nodded.
"Then we should probably ask how to fix it or at least how to stop the burning." He didn't want to see her in pain but he didn't really know what to do.
"I'll be fine. Darren said that it would go away," Ginger assured him.
Lillian noded slowly as she stood up from the couch. She walked into the bathroom locking the door. Her legs gave out and she slumped against the wall. In and out; her eyes were glazed over, dull, she didn’t want to see through them; in and out; her fingrs tingled telling her she was touching something, but inside she felt numb; in and out; she kept reminding herself how to breath because Lillian might stop if she didn’t; in and out, in and out.
Paige felt as if nails were stabbing every inch of her. I ruined it. I ruined it. I ruined it. She hates me. Is it possible to die after death? She covered her mouth and stumbled backward as if someone had smacked her. No. How could she think like that? She was Lillian's guardian angel. She was supposed to protect her. Paige quickly hurried after Lillian and entered the bathroom slowly. "Lillian?"
There was no response. She wasn’t hurt, oh no. Her heart had finally given up. It broke, and now she was broken.
Paige sighed. "I'm technically not supposed to do this…" She placed her hand on Lillian's chest, right over Lillian's heart, and breathed deeply. "Just focus on breathing. Match your breath with mine."
Lillian couldn’t hear, it was static. The words flowed in and out without meaning. Her breathing steadied as something pricked her chest. Why fix what’s always been broken?
"Lillian, please. Think of Darren," Paige pleaded.
Something said was familiar it stuck with her. But her mind was shut, what was it? What was so important!? She-She nothing.
