“I can kinda sing….” Aidan said a bit nervously made sure his guitar was in tune. He hadn’t played for anyone for a few years and was kind of embarrassed.
“I can kinda sing….” Aidan said a bit nervously made sure his guitar was in tune. He hadn’t played for anyone for a few years and was kind of embarrassed.
"Then sing." Ivory smiled. Pain meds and anti-depressants? What happened? She asked herself. I'll ask later.
“Okay…” Aidan started to play the beginning chords for I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables one of his favourite musicals but cut out the first few lyrics as he had already started the music.
“I dreamed a dream in times gone by, when hope was high and life worth living.
I dreamed, that love would never die. I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid, and dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid, no song unsung, no wine untasted”
Ivory stared at him in shock; Had he always been this talented?
"That was…" Ivory lunged at him and caught him in a tight hug. "-Beautiful."
Aidan hugged her back, “Thankyou…I mean, there are things to work on some chords were flat…”
"I couldn't tell." Ivory smiled and pulled away to talk. "Are you thinking of going into the music industry?"
He shook his head, “Probably not. In truth I haven’t really thought about what I want to do…”
"Well, I don't mean to push you, but I think I might be able to pull a few strings and get you performing at the championship cup after-party." She blurted out excitedly.
"That is, if you're up for it."
“Really? You would do that for me?” He asked, a smile forming on his lips already.
"Of course!" She said a little too loud. "So you'll do it?!"
He nodded, “Yeah, I-I will.” His smile widened a little.
"Perfectoooooo." She grinned, moving her head from left to right dramatically. "But first, have you written anything?" Ivory questioned, suddenly serious.
“I mean…a few things but they aren’t any good.” He bit his lip and frowned a little, thinking about all the unfinished papers on his desk.
"I'm sure they're wonderful, and I could always help you." She smiled and nodded. "Now, where are these 'few things'?" She used air-quotes.
“On my desk…” He said, picking at the guitar chords.
