"Yup!" Nova jumped into the water. "Wanna join us?"

“No.” He said, a little too quickly, “I mean, no thank-you, I’m fine on dry land.”

Nova frowned. "Come onnnnnnn…"

“No, really…I-I perfectly fine here.” He tried a smile that didn’t quite work out.

"Yeah, man, come on." Ashton pressed a little harder. "Hey, guys it's fine he doesn't have to come." Lily spook out. "Ashton quit bullying him." Ashton turned and pushed Lily under the water "I'm not bullying him." She came out of the water out of breath. "Jerk!"

"Honestly, guys!" She looked back at Wren. "You know what, it's probably best if we stay away from those two. Anyway, you have to help with the animals. Come on." She got out and led him to the barn.

“Too make up for my…lack of swimming how ‘bout I go get my guitar?” He asked hoping to take his mind off the water.

"Not until the animals are taken care of!" She grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the barn.

“Hey! Nova!” He laughed and let her pull her to he barn.

Lily watched as Wren and Nova walked off together. "Of course this would happen!" Ashton kicked the dirt "You like her don't you?" Ashton Froze. "My guess was right." He sat in the grass while she stayed in the water "What about you?" Lily laughed "Me and Wren? No way, I've only known him for a day." But, it did bother her a bit. She quickly shoved the emotion down. She was already cheering Nova on, she can't take that back. "Mhm." She looked at him. "Seriously it's nothing. Let's just wait for them to get back."

"Okay, what have we not done…?"Nova entered the barn with Wren. "Oh… hey we've already done everything…" She laughed nervously, realizing her mistake.

“Honest mistake. Come on. Let’s go get my guitar.” Wren grabbed her hand and led her back to the guest house where he had left his guitar.

"Oh, alright." Nova followed Wren over and sat on the porch. "We probably shouldn't go back over there… looks like they're still fighting." They had a clear view of the lake from where they were at.

"How, did I get stuck with you?" Ashton sighed. Lily grabbed him and pulled him in "Hey!" She turned away."It's payback. I don't see why you hate me so much?" Lily said as she watched and waited for Nova and Wern to return. "I think I hate you, that's a pretty strong feeling. I just don't like you." He crawled out of the lake. "I'm leaving." Lily got out of the lake. "I'm sorry it's not my fault your not likable." She kicked Ashton back in the lake and ran to where Nova was.

“We’ll give them…ten minutes or so? See what happens.” He quickly walked in and grabbed the guitar and sat back down next to Nova.

Nova saw Lily approaching, but Wren hadn't seemed to notice. "Hey can we go inside. I'm not really a big fan of bugs."

“Sure, lead the way.” He said, holding the door open for Nova and smiling.

Lily hugged Nova. She just couldn't handle it anymore. Ashton was a jerk and she wanted him gone. She tried her best to hold back her tears, she didn't want Wren to see her like this.

“It’s…an escape.” He said, simple. Not wanting to go into to much detail about why, meaning he’d have to explain about his parents

"From what?"

He didn’t want to say but felt someone should know, “My parents…” He tried not to sound like a baby.

"Oh." Nova paused. "Sorry for asking…" He really didn't sound like he wanted to talk about it.

Lily was going to knock but didn't want to ruin the vibe Nova had going. She can't go to the lake, because Ashton is there. "The barn it is." She turned and walked to the barn and sat inside letting her tears fall.

“No, no…it’s fine,” He said strumming a few chords, “Just didn’t think you’d want to hear my tragic backstory.”
