Veda walked into the booth and voted. When she came back out, she shakily slid down against the wall.
"Veda. Remember our promise. Stay alive, for me. If for no one else, then for me." Aaron's dying words barely left his lips before his body went limp in Veda's arms. "No–n-no Aaron. AARON!" Veda screamed, her newly blinded eyes overflowing with tears. "Aaron, you promised." She choked out as she held her best friend and first love's body close to her, which was covered in the bloodwolves' destruction, the price Aaron paid for saving Veda. "You said you would never leave. You p-promised."
Veda drew her knees to her chest and put her hands over her head, tucking her head between her knees. "You promised. You promised." She whispered. "I'm sorry Aaron, but I have to break my promise too." She said out loud, loud enough for everyone to hear her.

He slid down to the floor, unable to weep in his horror. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry…" Liam choked out.

"He's my……….he was my best friend. And my first love. I promised him I would stay alive. I promised him I would, for him. Then again, he promised not to die too." Veda said bitterly, subconsciously touching her eyes.

"You promised," he repeated, his voice cracking. What kind of man was he? What kind of man… he shook away those thoughts. He'd made a promise too. To someone who was very much alive and all alone. It still didn't make him feel any better.

Xander took a deep breath and went to cast his vote. He was hit with regret right away once he left the booth, but he was certain it would have been that way no matter who he had voted for.
