Wren rolled is eyes again, “What’s your name anyway?”
Wren rolled is eyes again, “What’s your name anyway?”
"Ashton." He said as he crossed his arms. He knew this summer was going to be boring so he had to find was to make it fun himself.
"What kind of a name is that?"
“Hoc futurum tantibus” Wren said, hopping the others didn’t understand.
(Meaning: this is going to be a nightmare in Latin)
Nova grinned, but quickly made her expression go blank again. She couldn't let them know how smart she was.
"Ashton is it." Lily smiled as she took his orange juice away from him and dumped it on the ground "One I was saying the rules and you rudely interrupted me. Two don't you ever look that way at Nova again!" Ashton glared at Lily but she ignored him. "Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be eaten together. There will be free time but only till after everything is done. My mother and I are in charge so please be respectful." Lily went to stand next to Nova "Oh, and Don't go into the paster with the cows and Horses."
"Why would we want to go near those animals?! They're disgusting!'
“Got it.” Wren said, even though he wasn’t going to quite obey the last rule, not with horses being here.
"Can we go unpack yet?" Nova acted bored
"Actually if you get to know them they are quite nice and fun to be around." Lily looked off to where the paster is "Sure they smell a little, but they also family to me." Lily clapped her hands to get Ashton's attention "Right one more thing Since Nova is the only girl here I will be staying in the girl's house with her. So, if you try anything." She glared at him "You know it's a farm there are so many ways you could Accidentally Get hurt"
Wren snorted, “Now that I’d like to see.”
"Yeah can we go unpack, Rude girl?" Ashton picked up his stuff and started to walk away.
Nova almost smiled, but quickly remembered not to. "Whatever. I could totally beat him up."
“Please do.” Wren said as he followed Ashton to he guest room.
"Sorry you have to live with him all summer," Lily felt sorry for Wren, but there wasn't much she could do. "Alright let's go" She walked them to behind the main house where to two-story buildings stood. "Left is the girls and Right is the boys."
Nova followed Lily to the girl's house and quickly locked herself in a room. She sighed and sat down, pulling out her glasses. Her head had been pounding since she had taken them off.
Wren nodded and walked into the rooms. He quickly unpacked and placed his guitar next to the bed.
Lily knew it was going to be hard to get to know them, but it's not like she didn't want to she's just done this so many times. She made lots of friends while her parents did this but once they all left she never talked to them again. And it hurt.
Nova looked out the window to the pastures. She would have to find some way to sneak out there to read.
Ashton Threw his luggage on the bed and pulled out a bottle of whiskey "Want some?" He asked Wren as he took the lid off.
Wren grabbed the guitar and walked outside where he found a small chair and began to play Dream by Bishop Briggs
Nova heard music and looked across the yard to the boys' house, where Wren was playing. Hopefully, she was far enough away that he wouldn't see her glasses.
He hummed the lyrics of the song while he played, for the first time since he got here he felt happy…ish.
Nova stared at him. He looked… happy? But how could someone be happy here?
He finished the song and played one of his own, pulling out a small note book with chords and lyrics scribbled messily on he pages.
Nova finally closed the curtains and pulled out a book. She left the window open, however, smiling at the music that came through it.
“No, E minor, not A minor..” He said, correcting himself a few times.
Lily walked out to the pasture, grabbed some reins. She needs to do something to cool off and this was her favorite thing. "Hey there Tucker." Tucker was her horse since she was young he was a big quarter horse with a golden coat. She put the reins on and rode bareback to the lake at the back of the pasture he family owns.
Nova found that she couldn't concentrate on her book, instead listening to Wren correcting himself.
This is dumb.
She got up and closed the window, blocking out his voice.
Wren continued to play as he watched Lily ride what looked to be her horse, soon disappearing out of his view. He sighed and continued playing.
